@ seeking 54 So I figure out , that everyone has his preferences and experiences , which I surely respect , ........your statements really do sound senseful to me as well . But I guess , that this leader question is somewhat similar to the attitude of some guys always going after blondes wheras other men have a crush on brunettes only ! tight lines , diemai

If I may chime in again , ..........fluocarbon is tough , but just not tough enough ! A musky or northern pike might not be able to snap it straight away , .........BUT , ...the problem is that the sharp teeth of those fighting fish would cause rashes and nicks on the leader , which would decrease it's strength , ......so after each fish caught the leader would become weaker and weaker . The question is , how many fish it would finally hold up to , .......2 , 3 , ....or even 5 , ..........at which stage you would finally have to replace it ? If you change fluocarbon leaders after EACH fish , you might be relatively safe in terms of loss , ....but how about that deep inhaling trophy 50incher just does not feel like coming closer to the boat for the battle to last a little longer , ..........I won't like to rely on a material that I know to be subject to a certain grade of abrasion , ........ there is no alternative to a wire leader to me , may it be single or multiple strand(depending on what kinda lures are on) . just my , .......tight lines , diemai

Hi there , folks , Just got this bait delivered from US Ebay , .....it was pretty cheap and I bought it out of curiousity , as I had never seen nothing like this before . I know , that these chatterblades are supposed to be attached to leadheads , though I had never fished such lures before as well , .......but now to a hardbait , too ??? Just putting it up in here to ask , how to fish and work this thing for local pike , especially in which manner to attach it it to the line , .........would the round eye of the connector be the attachement eye or vice versa the elongated oval eye , ...don't have any clue . And also , what would this bait do in the water , how would it swim , ....what would be the most effective way of retrieve ? I'd also like to know the manufacturer or distributing company , ......so if someone out there knows , ......please go ahead ! Thanks a lot for your replies , ......please make me smarter ! In my opinion you cannot get around steel leaders for pike and musky , no way . Something I found about different leaders on a short term , ......in German language ,though , ......but maybe you can figure out by the pictures(I could also translate text portions of interest , if desired) ? http://www.lutz-huelsse.de/themen/angelgeraete/schnur/schnur_text/raubfischvorfaecher.htm greetz , diemai

Hi , folks , Nothing to do with lures or lurefishing this time , probably still interesting to some folks out there ! Just thought about doing this little clip this morning , .......sorry about my stammering language at times , ...I could play it over in my mind many times before , what I actually wanna say , ......but once the camera is on , most of it is gone ! So please read my describtions straight on YouTube as well if you need some further infos . ..................tight lines , diemai

My missus prefers me making woodchips down the workshop rather than gurgling down a few beers in local bars like I used to in younger years , ......no complaints on that side now , ......and often she catches fish with the stuff I make , anyway . greetz , diemai

@ aaron4mvp I've made a few before , ..turned them down on a lathe out of buoyant abachewood , .......made them in a kind of elongated teardrop shape , also a bit tapered towards the rounded nose . Sanded down the lip plane on a sanding disc freehanded , ...should sit at 45° to the blanks center axis . The shaping of the nose on the lathe requires planful processing , ........if it becomes tapered and rounded too pronounced , the sanded 45° plane might become too short for all the mounting screws covering it , ...or , ...in other words , ....you might have to sand off quite a bit of material from the nose to achieve a sufficiently long plane for coverage of the screws . For my first one I've used stainless steel lips , but found these to be too heavy , ...my Jitterbugs would never float up level this way but head-down , ........since I go for aluminium lips exclusively . But I've also made Jitterbug-style lures out of rectangular timberboards , ...these also worked fine , ...have a look in my gallery : http://www.tackleund...tyle-topwaters/ Please check next(or previous ??) pictures as well . Good luck , diemai

.........you're lucky to sit in your man cave AFTER the job , ...I'm forced to do it before , which can also be stressfull , if I plan to accomplish certain tasks on my lures ,.......... f.e. like topcoating , glueing in screweyes . I like to do the working operations on ALL lures of an actual bunch , sometimes I'm tight with time not to get to work too late ! greetz , diemai

I'm working lateshifts all of the time , so've only got about 1 or 2 hours during the mornings to hang out in the workshop , ..wish it was more . During winter I also have the weekends . cheers , diemai

Probably the silvery one would turn out a reject , ....whilst the glue was curing , the springy force of the internal wire form pushed the lip to one side without having taken notice , ...once the glue cured , it was too late . Guess , that I gotta shave and re-shape the lip to probably save the lure , ......too bad ! greetz , diemai
