@ Thad Not quite sure , what you mean about including the lip ? If you have a shallow running minnow bait with a smaller lip pointing somewhat downward , you don't include the wire harness , as the line tie is located at the nose or chin of the blank , thus no tension of a fighting fish applied onto the lip . On such lure models the lip is just slotted at it's base(the part inside the lure body) to fit over the internal harness , when glued in . But if you have a deep diving lure with a bigger , somewhat forward pointing lip , you need to locate the tow eye onto the lip for proper function of that lure , .......so I would call that "to include" the lip into the harness !? In this case the lip is connected to the harness and you need to glue them in together . For a better bond of the lip to the blank drill some small holes into the lips base and/or file some grooves into its base edge , .......this is for the glue to find better grip on the plane of the lip . If you are still uncertain on such big deep diving lips , you might additionally secure them by small wire pins , glued in as well and leading crosswise through lip and lure body . good luck , diemai:yay:

@ 21xdc Some years ago I had mailordered a few of these spinnerbodies(unpainted) from :-:-: Lure Making :-:-: The Official LureMaking.com Website | Tackle Components | Lure Components | Lure Making Information | Lure Making Supplies , located in Ontario/Canada . Here in Germany there are some triangular weights available , that one can attach to the line-tie of any small to medium sized spinner to render it a weight-forward spinner , always carry a few of these along in my boat tackle box . You might also utilize an oval or teardrop inline sinker , rig some wire through it and kink the wire arm ahead of it a little upward to have the line tie a bit upward of the sinker , ......this prevents line twist as well(but does not look too good , I admit:huh:) I have also made experiments with weight forwards having a sinker inline , not offset . To prevent twisting , I had rigged TWO "hatchet" or "Doc Shelton" blades behind one another . These blades are available clockwise and counterclockwise spinning(one is little smaller than the other) , so this has eliminated line twist as well . But the ultimate keelweight of a weight forward spinner is the one of the famous Swedish "M

You're the the master of mini lures:yes: , ......these turned out very nice , even detailed painting in this small size(about 1 1/5" !!!!) . I can figure out , that such small lures would always turn out to be sinking , as the simply can't provide sufficient buoancy , .....but I wonder , why you always mount this kinda big"deep diving" lips on them ? A small , downward pointing lip would surely be enough to get them to wiggle , no diving lip neccessary as they are sinking , anyway ??? Or is it to protect the hook from snagging at bottom ? Well done lures , for sure:yes: ! greetz , diemai:yay:

@ ricam I see it the same way like Dave as well ! These pictures coming from your OWN computer picture file are your own property and you can upload them anywhere you please . That particular rule can only refer to copying pictures from this site(even if they are your own uploads) into your own files and from there posting them elsewhere . Once a particular picture is in the gallery in here , it also gets labeled with "tackleunderground" , .........these are the ones , the rules refers to ! But you may still post the VERY SAME picture elsewhere , as long as you do that from your own picture file , thus that particular picture would not be labeled with"tackleunderground" . This is the way , that I see it ,...... seems logical to me , and I also do post idendical pictures on different forums sometimes , but all origined from my own file and unlabeled ! good luck , diemai:yay:

@ KB Tackle Couple of months ago I was lucky to find 24 pcs cards of disposable brushes at a local 1-dollar-store(over here 1-euro-store , off course:lol:) , 1 euro each pack . These plastic-bristled brushes came in very handy for applying topcoats onto my lures , so I have bought about 1 1/2 dozens to last me quite for a while . Always worthwile checking your local dollar store ,.......... you may be lucky , as they usually don't always carry the same stuff all of the time ! good luck , diemai:yay:

@ Jonjon I am sure , that your Grandpa would be very happy , if he could know about you carrying on his heritage , ..........something , that has become quite scarce in these modern times , I suppose ? Anyway ,........ welcome at TU ! greetz , diemai:yay:

I use a black permanent felt pen(the type to label CD's)on bright base colors , ......on dark base colors on the lure I utilize a gold or silver ink pen(the kinda also rodmakers use) . Both of these inks are vulnerable to some topcoats , so I always apply two layers of acrylic clear over the writing , never had problems of it running this way ! good luck , diemai:yay:

@ 68KingFisher A bit embarrassing to me to have advised someone like you about power tool maintainance:o:o:o , .....but I did not know before:huh: ! I use my "Dremel" most likely with a coarse sanding drum(the bigger one available) to round off back and belly of my lures . The tail and nose tapers(viewed from top)I'd furnish previously on a 5" coarse sanding disc , chucked into my lathe's motor . The fine sanding I do with a sandpaper file and finally just by hand sanding . I haven't yet carved details like gillplates , etc. , onto my lures that much ,.... the few ones , that I made , I also did with the "Dremel" and small router bits ,......also shaped the pre-drilled cavities of a few aluminium lead casting molds like this . But I guess , that the hanging motor with a transmitting cable would be better suited for finacky carving work , as it would surely be easier to guide the handle portion of that cable rather than the entire "Dremel" unit . Some guys on a German site(and elsewhere too , off course) , building a lot of flat-bodied gliders , utilize table routers to round off backs and bellies of their lures .....if all settings are well , this work operation comes like a breeze . greetz , diemai:yay:

@ 68KingFisher Concerning your "Dremel"(I have had some issues with them as well and have already wrecked two or three) , .......have you checked the carbon contacts at either side ? There are screw caps on either side of its casing , unscrew these to access these spring-loaded contacts , you can buy spare and replace them , if they are rubbed down . They might also be smeared with dirt , giving them a clean-up with some fine sandpaper/alcohol might help as well , ........also the round copper contact drum on the main shaft , where the carbon contacts do engage . Also had problems with the internal contacts of the on/off switch/speed control , might try to clean these as well or CAREFULLY bend them towards one another(very finacky) , as they probably might have bent apart under constant use . It is not that hard to disassemble the "Dremel" and put it together again , if you watch your steps and study the fittings of the few single parts . PLUG OUT BEFORE ! No guarantee to get it running again , but well worth a try before having to buy a new one:wink: . Sorry for a little off-topic ! good luck , diemai:yay:
