  2. Nice asp you've got there , congrats:yes: ! Did you retrieve fast on surface "as usual" or it took your lure a bit deeper ? greetz , diemai:yay:

    Stealers

I always enjoy watching such alikeness amongst a batch of baits ,.......with this one you seemingly have carried out some little experiments with particular color designs ! But they all came out nice , anyway , ......great job:yes: ! greetz:yay: , diemai

    7" yellow perch

It definately will , Mark ,....... but not in all waters , ......in some places the pike rather feed more on silver-scaled forage fish like roach and bream ,.... but in others they go more for perch ! I know swims over here , were you could cast your arms sore with a perch-colored bait without hardly any strike ,.......but I'm also familiar to other waters , where pike will sometimes even pick a freshly hooked perch off your line ! greetz , Dieter
  7. @ Balls Thanks a lot for posting your little tutorial , even I could easily follow;) ! greetz , diemai:yay:

    7" yellow perch

    Hi , Mark , Even it's not a trout:huh::lol: , it still looks very nice:yes: ! You're getting better every time , as it seems to me:yes: ! Great job:yes: ! greetz , Dieter
  12. Nice statement , Tim , ......I'd surely second to that ,........what else can I say about John and his baits ???? just amazing , John ! greetz:yay: , Dieter
  13. When a Belgian friend introduced me to Etex years ago , he had seriously advised me to stir it very well for some minutes and also stated , that I should not use up the entire remainder in the mixing bin's bottom . greetz , diemai:yay:
  14. @ Vodkaman Nice site , Dave , thanks for providing..........too bad , that I've packed up with drinking a few years ago:lol: ! I wonder , whether that company uses genuine bottle caps or they have them especially made from rustproof material , since the real ones would rust for sure sooner or later . greetz , Dieter
  15. @ Vodkaman Thanks , but it's not me , who had the idea , just found it on the web;) ! @ hazmail I have made some trials about bottle top lures as well , but since my first efforts these have been hanging in my shop for years:o ,.... always had new ideas to work on;) ! Actually these lures consist of screw-on plastic bottle tops simply rigged onto a piece of wire , only held aligned by the tension of the two closure coils either end(after a fish or snag the wire shaft would have to be bend straight again , I suppose) . This rig is subject to water sepage , off course ,.... it would sink sooner or later ,.....to make it easier for water to enter , I had drilled some holes into the plastic tops . But once submerged , the lure , supposed to work as a sinking glider , did not have any action when jerked ,..... so my theory is to also rig some buoyant material(cork, styrofoam, etc.) onto the center wire shaft inside of the bottle tops ,...... this way I would achieve a buoyant lurebody:? . For sink rate and action I would then also internally rig some inline sinkers fore and aft , just like I would do on a wooden bait ,......this way I guess , I could get it to a darting action:? . Once I would have determined about sizing of buoyant material and weights , I could make multiple lures without too much hazzle ,...... due to always using same materials , it would be repeatative . For various test rigs I would only waste a piece of welding wire every time . Well , that's my theory , haven't yet tried it out:? ,.......so many ideas , so little time ! The jointed one consisting of beer bottle tops has also never been tried , these would rust anyway , if not kept dry sufficiently . I had the idea about these "lures" having talked to a guy being unemployed and did not have the money for lures , also not to obtain tools and material for "real" homemades . Maybe one day I should continue with my experiments to see whether my theory above would really work out:) ! greetz:yay: , diemai

    some new baits

This one looks really mad:yes: ! Your scale pattern is of greatest accuracy:yes: ,........must be very hard to keep the lines straight and parallel with that screw driver tip , especially on a curved lureblank . great work:yes: , diemai

  18. Hi , folks , Just found this on a German site , the cod in the Baltic Sea seem to be deLIGHTED:lol: ! greetz , diemai:yay:
  19. @ spidergrub6 Have you done a search on the topic(s) utilizing the search function and some key terms . A lot of info is already there , you only need to find it ,........! As stated before , the subject is very widespread , would be better to specify . greetz , diemai:yay:
  20. Hi folks , Had difficulties weighting the teakwood lure shown in here ,..........since I had not used the possibly most buoyant wood for it:( . The unweigthed lure is still floating , but heavily tail-down , the hinge and its pins add more weight to a lure , than I have thought . By putting a 10 grams sinker right into the tip of its chin I could render it to hang horizontally , but now it does sink at a medium fast rate , though it's supposed to be barely floating . It still provides its "wave pattern" swimming action , but for better control I would have prefered it to be floating . So , in a nutshell ,...... always use the possibly most buoyant material for lures equipped with these hinges ,..... I'm gonna stick to abachewood in future ,.......PVC should also be buoyant enough ! There are simply more balancing options that way ! greetz , diemai:yay:
  21. Have been weighting my lures equipped with these hinges yesterday and I must say , that I had a tough time doing that . These hinges do add quite a bit of weight to the rear of the lures , and I had failed to use the possibly most buoyant material for them . So for future hinged lures I would only use abachewood , also PVC should be sufficiently buoyant ........also keep the lures a bit more voluminous , if possible . Don't have experience with PVC baits , but I have seen on pictures and vids the loads of lead placed into their bellies , so it should be OK . greetz , diemai:yay:
  22. Best wishes for your B-day from me as well .......have a nice one:yes: ! greetz , diemai:yay:
  23. @ makohunterz Don't worry , lead melts at about 260° Celsius , not quite sure about aluminium , but its melting point is far beyond , at least 600° Celsius , probably even more . All commercial molds are made of aluminium as well , even the softest alloy would withstand the molten lead , no matter how many casts you make . Silicone molds do not have such a long shelf life , only up to a few hundred casts , but this really depends of the size of the cavities , the bigger these are , the lower the lifetime of the mold . Guess , for bigger deep sea pirks these are not suitable . greetz , diemai:yay:

    chartreuse synthetic

Don't know much about tying material , but this is a very innovative design ,..... wonder , how it would act in the water:? ? But my concern is , whether it would always swim hook-up ,.... also I might have added a second ,-or at least a stinger hook somehow . But I really like the looks of it with its scaled silvery body:yes: ,.... if the fibres would be made to pulsate , it must be looking very attractive ! greetz:yay: , diemai
