  1. Why not manufacture your own? Then you control the quality. All the info is on this site to do it if you want to search for it, and when you get stuck, ask questions. You will get the answers needed.
  2. I have some good sound board insulation from making m sound box for my sho vac. That project went great and I cna litteraly turn my shop vac on close the door and almost not hear it. I also have enough fans and flex ducts left over from my Heating and AC days I should be able to ventilate this one if it ends up needing it. This will be strictly for painting in this room. I cant think of anything else I would want to do with it. I have looked into the silent ones, but ouch. Thats going to be for when all else fails. Some good ideas here. will let everyone know what I decide and what ends up working
  3. RJ, I saw in another post someone mentioned you have a website. Would you mind giving me the web address so I can check out your other baits? Thanks. Shane

  4. Deleted as it no longer applies. Ha way to funny. opened this to respond to king 4 minutes after he posted, took a phone call and poof Im out of the conversation. LOL. You guys are way to fast for me:)
  5. I almost have her convinced to give the airbrush a try. I think she would be awesome. She had some real artistic talent in high school and I dont think it woulld take much to get it back. Definately would not take much to pass me up. I have thought about a smaller one for after hours. Problem is I dont know for sure It would make the difference. I am dirrectly under the bed she is sleeping in. No insulation between floors to amount to anything. Atic is out of the question because of the layout of the house. There is a way I could run the pipe all inside, but it would mean taking this from a half day job to a couple day job. Im not sure I have it in me. I really need to make this as quick of a transition as possible. I need to dive in here in the next couple of weeks and just comit to whatever I decide and go because i have way to many have finished projects going and im beginning to feel them comming to bite me in the a$$. If anyone thinks this will not work then maybe another small compresser will be the way to go. I guess I can always figure out some sort of an insulated sound box for it to go in to or something.
  6. Well last night my wife finally had enough of the airbrush compressor kicking on in the middle of the night. She said something had to change. Well we have had this conversation many times before. That is why I cant run most of my woodworking tools after 10:00PM and why I have a bed taking up half of my assembly room so I dont wake her up comming to bed whenever I decide to. If I am not in bed by midnight, I know where I am sleeping. (Ha, look what time it is ) Well heres my solution. Obviously she cant make me put everything out in the woodshop area because it needs to stay in a clean enviornment. And the room in the house barely can be classified as that. So since the flytying desk looks the nicest Its now been moved into a part of the living room that does not get used much. No problem there. Its the Made2fly desk, if I keep it straightend up we wont have any arguments. I cant even type it without laughing. Oh well. Heres the important part. I need the compressor moved out to the woodshop but I also need air in my assembly room. Would there be a problem with running pipe around the outside of the house and then into my hobby room and adding a connection in there for my airgun hose? Now I have done this before and I know my compressor will handle it. I know what type of pipe I need. What I need to know is I have never done it specifically for an airbrush. The outside pipe will be the flexible poly pipe being used in homes today for waterlines. It will handle the airpressure and everything but with our long cold winters here in MT I am worried about moisture getting into the system. Should I have a dryer at the compressor and at the outlet where my airhose attaches? Hopefully someone has done this before and will have some advice.
  7. I agree with Fatfingers completely, and I am usually one to go and buy the top of the line what ever I am going to need the first time. But, $400.00 for an airbrush if you are just starting into this in my opinion is not how I would go. I have no idea what your artistic abilities are or how long it will take you to achieve the level of craftsmanship that you see on this board or more importantly the level you want to achieve yourself. But it does not happen overnight. It does not even happen in 6 months to a year for most people. But then again only you know your abilitys. If your not artistic by nature, then you would be better off spending $100 on a descent airbrush and get lots of paint, lure bodies, epoxy, and whatever else you need to start practicing. That initial $400 dollar purchase could be stretched into a lot of practice and completed fishable (maybe not perfect) lures. If your lucky maybe a family member or friend will even buy them for the cost of materials (padded a bit of course) and your off to making more. Im not sure as a begginer I would go as low as the $30 one off ebay though. It looks like it would work, but it also looks like you need knowledge of airbrushs to bring it up to the standards needed to make it work for our hobby. Both badger and Iwata have brushes close to the $100 mark that should work just fine. I am not an expert on the different models though so I wont recomend a specific model. I will leave that up to everyone else.
  8. Ive noticed that Sagacious is good at staightening everyone right out!:)And I cant say I have seen him steer anyone the wrong dirrection yet.
  9. Or else you will end up with a bed in your shop. (Been there, Done that, and Have one!) I would have a lot more room in there if I could move the bed out, but it saves a lot of late night fights.
  10. WOW! And with cans. Simply amazing. And what an awesome job for a first foil. This man gets hold of an airbrush and look out!
  11. It wouldnt hurt to tie one up but off the top of my head I would think that it is not going to flare like buck tail does so it wont look as full. I have seen a little attachment called a skirt umbrella???? I believe and I think I have seen that used on trebles with skirt material as a bucktail replacement.
  12. Nice try but your going to have to blame your dirty UA on something else. I will trade ya some clean urine for Hooks, Blades, Beads, Paint, Epoxy or just about anything.
  13. His best bet is to go get a card reader from an electronics stare as oposed to finding a cord for the camera. They are less than 20.00 and are universal for any of the types of cards for digital cameras. Some of the cords for them older digital cameras can be spendy. Ask me how I know that. Went to order a cord for mine, 90.00 bought the card reader at best buy, 14.99. Hmm easy descision for me.

"from an oak pallet slat" You might be a red neck if......... Just kidding ya. Looks likke that New saw is going to get a work out. Pallets, What a great idea for some free wood. My wife is the manager of the local Grocery store here. I have let a lot of wood go the last couple years. Anyways back to your lures. They look great! They are missing some Detail though. If you are artistically challanged like myself make some stencils. Tacklemaking.com has some this month on their site. Would be a good start. I bet these catch fish though.
  15. Hi Joey, Welcome to TU! Your going to get lots of different opinions on bending wire and how to do it. Sometimes it varies based on age and the amount they make. Sometimes some of these guys are just damn hard core.(YakeBait:worship:) I use a wireformer from Hagens and would not try to bend one by hand for nothing. Problem is it was $130.00 plus$30.00 for the heavier dies to bend the larger wire. But my bends are perfect every time, and I can bend wire every day of the week all day long if I wanted to and my hands would not be tired. There are cheaper ones available. dont know how they work or if they would hold up to heavier wire that is needed for musky baits. PS You two are quick, when I started typing noone had responded yet! LOL:)
  16. There just does not seem to be a lot of info ou there on this particular rod or Mitchell rods in general. So with that in mind, and with what Grub Man has posted, and the few prices on mitchell rods I was able to come up with I would make a guess and say its just another rod and does not have any excess value. But keep in mind I am just making as educated of guess as I can make. If someone comes along and contradicts what I have said, then believe them.
  17. I would say it would depend on how much you have thinned it, but in most cases it should work. In fact after thinking about it will work no matter how much you tin it.
  18. I have looked through my books and cant find any info on it. Any idea how old it is? If I had an approximate age I might have a couple ways of finding out some info.
  19. These are cool. I do have to admit, Your paint is original.
  20. I guess if you dont want to spend any money you could check your neighbors bbq out for a motor. But seriously if your going to do this as a hobby your going to have to spend money. Its not a cheap one.
  21. Mine has 3 coats D2T and one top coat of DN so I dont know but Im thinking its pretty tough.
  22. You know we can beat a $1500 dollar pit bull with the same stick we are beating the dead horse with!
  23. Oh yeah RJ bass Im a proffessional fisherman and think ya should send me some free samples for use durring my tourneys for advertisement for your baits. I will email the list to you of the ones I want. Go ahead and throw a free tackle box in there also would ya. You do great work though. Keep it up. It keeps us all motivated.
  24. I think the action is bottom line what we need to shoot for so looks like we give these Gator spoons a shot. It is so hard to get him to fish with anything else that I have actually considered attemting to have a die made to stamp my own. Not sure how much money would be involved but have several friend with machine shops so I think we could work out some trades. Thanks for the advice Guys.
