  1. Do a search of posts by diemai I believe this is something he posted. There will be a lot to search through, but I am almost positive he posted it. You may pm him if you cant find it.
  2. What your doing Matt is a lot different than repairing a rod broken as far back as the second eye. Your talking a whole different type of repair job on it, Not just regluing a tip back on.
  3. Just a guess but I am leaning towards force drying elmers is a bad thing. I was kind of thinking this is how it might turn out when you said you were going to try it. If it was me I would attempt with a new batch of elmers just to find out but I think the same will happen. I am trying to figure out why I was thinking it wouldnt work when you posted it and for whatever reason, (probably because its almost 1:00am here) I cant remember what I was thinking. But who am I to question the genious of the Great and Noble Vodkaman. I think the pop dryer is a great accomplishment. I can wait for glue to dry. LOL
  4. Tierce, Good luck. It can be done, but isnt easy. The hardest part is finding the sleeves you need and having them the right size. Here is a link to the info you need. http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/repair-oquinn.html Make sure that the rod is either worth it monetarily or has sentimental value to you because It will not handle exactly the same as it did before. But it will be fishable and if your careful it might surprise you how well it can turn out. If you cant dig up a chunk of pole with the right taper to work for your repair, email me shane@montanafishingrods.com I have several hundred broken poles I should be able to find something for you. Shane
  5. Dave, Why the two fans? Could you use one larger or a higher speed? Or is there a reason you chose 2. I am asking because I have everything sitting here in my house to make one of these if it can be done with one fan. I can move 100 CFM with this one fan or use a rheostat to turn it down if needed. Thats a whole lot of air moving through a little box.
  6. Wow after reading that post Dave it makes me feel kind of amaturish throwing an idea together and running off to the dock to see if it swims. If I have to learn and actually understand all that I am going to stick to rod building.
  7. Bears are built for him and available for sale on his web site. I wonder how the seal in the bicycle pump will hold up to the 350 degree plastic? Post your results Keith
  8. This site has some interesting products. Alsa Corporation [Vernon, CA]
  9. Yeah heat heat that solvent up to 350 degrees. Just make sure your nowhere close to my neighborhood when you do it please. Solvent fumes are bad enough. But heat the solvent up, one spark and by by or you will be burned severly. Trust me on this one. I have burn scars on 25% of my body from doing a similar thing. You will regret it sooner or later. Now how about using just the pigment without the solvent? Take testers model paint and let it sit. the solvent will separate from the pigment. drain off the solvent and your left with just pigment. If it works with testers model paint maybe it works with others.
  10. I was wrong, 25 psi is what I had it set on last. And that was shooting createx paints. But you can go as high as 40 psi I believe. Thin it till its a milk like consistancy. And remember stencils are our friend lol.
  11. Boy I wouldnt think so on water based paints. Im not quite sure whats up. Maybe my pressure is off but I dont think so. I will go check and get back to you. I havnt painted in a while but I am sure thats where its set.
  12. I know this isnt what you want but Dick nites was developed for their spoons and would be much easier to apply by dipping. But you could brush it on also I would guess. Just nor sure why you would want to when dipping would be so much quicker and easier.
  13. I am usually down around 10 psi nova. Im no expert but if I had to guess thats where I would start.
  14. KB, Happy Birthday! Havnt seen you on here for a while but hope your out there using them beautiful rods you built over the winter. Enjoy your day. Shane
  15. I vote for "A free two hour lecture on vortices" and I nominate Pete for the Speaker.
  16. I think a lot of it is what you get used to using also. Spike a pike loves his Boggs tackle maker. I wouldnt be with out my Hagens. No matter what you choose they all will have a learning curve to them. I know Spike makes some inline Pike baits with his. Not sure how its done because I have never used one but it evidently can be accomplished.
  17. It is a very creative idea. Not sure how it would work on a larger mold. But interesting.
  18. Best hand injectors I have seen yet Bear. I will be purchasing one from you on your next order.
  19. Richard, Unless I am mistaken I dont see A price. So since its free shipping I guess you can consider them paid for and ship em to me. Just kidding. Wanted you know you left off the price. Shane
  20. I use pigment that is used for marbeling on the fishing rods. Mixes in just fine.
  21. Not only should you send them back but I would be done with them. What a bunch of BS. So not only is their quality bad but your supposed to pay for the poor quality ones also??? If its not a problem Papamark PM the company to me. I wont say anything, I just want to be sure to not do buisiness with them.
  22. And now we know why his name is Barry the batchelor
  23. I am not sure that theres much room for improvement on them molds. You should probably just give this hobby up now and move on to something else please. Before you make us all look bad.
  24. this has been around for quite awhile, but still funny as heck! How forums work.... How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb would have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 1 to move it to the Lighting section 2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section 7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs 5 to flame the spell checkers 3 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty 7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's 3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs" 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
