  1. I am going to give you the name of a web site that is one of the best websites out there for flyfishing and flytying. My only problem I have with it is that you get the attitude that tends to come with flyfisherman that here way is the only way and their pompous attitudes just turn me off. The main one comes from the owner of the site. However if you can wade through the arrogant attitudes there are some real good people on this site and a wealth of info that cant be found anywhere else. Just be sure to come back here also.Fly Anglers OnLine, Your Complete Internet Flyfishing Resource.
  2. Rookie has perfected the straw method of painting. I believe he will be chiming in on this one soon.
  3. yep, just blend em up and let em ferment a little. If you want to know how to make anise oil, you better PM me. I dont think I should post it.
  4. If your refering to the way Nova seals his molds, maybe something was done wrong or something didnt quite set up right. You can see his baits and know they are not crap,(and we all know you were not saying that) so it has to be something that was different.
  5. Possibility you may need a different tip for your airbrush, but it would help if we knew more about what kind of equipment you were using.
  6. It has been said before on here that the ammonia damages the finish on your air brush also. It must take a long time because I havnt noticed any damage on mine.
  7. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen to me.
  8. Anything I use for Bass is likely to get bit by something with teeth where I fish. So Im going to stand by my original statement of not using Flexcoat for lures. Not bashing the product by any means. I love it for its inteded purpose. But the amount of time spent on making and painting one of our hard baits warrants better protection than that in my opinion. But like was stated above. Everyone has their own opinion.
  9. I wasnt here when Rookie started but I was really enjoying this.
  10. I use a ton of flex coat on rods. I honestly dont believe it will hold up on a lure. Even if its not for toothy fish. Its just not designed for that.
  11. I dont have anything to add other than what has been suggested already but its not a failure when you and the rest of us can learn something from it. You cant even imagine how many I have sitting in buckets that dont swim like I had planned, Some of them were casted as copies of other well known baits also that didnt perform like I wanted. But man this is fun!!!!
  12. Contact Bojon by PM. He sells a kit that I hear is great. I plan on getting one soon. It is around $49.00 if I remember right and includes the cutter DVD and E book. I have heard nothing but good about it and have contacted him before about it. Before I jump into producing tubes on a large scale instead of just playing with them I will be purchasing one from him.
  13. Its all up to you. Whatever your time is worth. Some are going to say its to cheap some will say its about right. Only you know the answer. Will you stay home from a fishing trip to make baits for that price?
  14. I am still trying to figure out novas frogs. I like that idea Nova. Brilliant. I have trashed 4 different homemade irons trying to get them the way I want them and I am not happy with them yet. I refuse to give up though. I will have them yet!
  15. Dave, Your awesome! I looked and looked. I tried the search and couldnt locate it. I didnt have the patience to search each and every thread. I was going to wait a couple days and PM the info to him myself. This person will be happy to share it with you. He just didnt want it on the open forum and I figured I should respect that since he shared it with me. Shane
  16. Worth is a great company to deal with. You wont be sorry. But then again so are the others mentioned above. If you are selling, you will just have to raise prices to reflect your costs. If not well your still going to save money for the quality of tackle your going to build.
  17. This video was posted here just a couple weeks ago and a member knew the machine and the clear coat. He didnt want to list it on the public forum for a reason that I cant seam to remember. I have tried to find the thread but for some reason cant locate it. It was only a couple weeks ago. February 19th was when I talked to the member by email. See if you can search and find the thread and contact him. He will probably share the info with you. Or maybe he will see this thread also.
  18. Fatman, Hate to say this but you are S.O.L. Prices have just gone up since your last order. Welcome to our world. If you dont like it now, you wont like it anytime soon because things are not getting any cheaper either. It looks to me like you have hit the right suppliers, time to bite the bullet and break out the check book.
  19. Why the post here about it? Why not start a new thread so everyone can either know about the contest or know your true intentions which are to end this thread and to carry it on over there. Its pretty easy to just follow Jerrys rules. They are there for a reason and dont affect the thread at all. Just make the pictures a bit smaller. I am a member over there also so I dont mind posting on both sites but this just seems like a slap in the face to avoid following a litle rule.
  20. I have found some that are up to 13 foot long. St Croix made them and they were considerably lower priced than the others. I dont think they are so much a Fly Rod though as they are advertising a slow action. The length has to be (I am assuming) to get the line above the tube or boat that you are in and to aid in casting such as a fly rod but a Fly Rod generally has a fast to moderate fast action to be able to controll the line. This wont help you find a blank but here is a custom builders web site that looks to have some knowledge on float rods and actually has them up to 17 feet. http://www.customfishingtackle.com/custom_float_rods.htm
  21. The tutorial is not posted on here so there is no link Eric. But find a way to get your email to cadman The tutorial is well worth it, very well written and will have you doing multiple colors like a pro in no time.
  22. Well ummmmm Phill I hate to admit this but I actually had to do a bit of research on this. I honestly have never built a steelhead float rod, and did not know whether that would be the same as one or not. But hey I guess we are always learning right? Heres what I found out. Yes. It looks to me to be the same as or very very close to a steelhead float rod. I compared it to this link here. G.Loomis Steelhead Float Rods As for where to find rod blanks for you I am still looking. I will post more later. I believe I had a source that sold there but need to find it. Lost it in my computer crash a few months back but it will turn up.
  23. Tommorow could be down the road. They are not that difficult to make and they are a whole lot cheaper that way. They are expensive if you are going to buy every one of them.
  24. Well I would start with whatever you fish with.
  25. Respiraters dont protect the eyes either. And I dont know of any blind bait makers out there, I know I wont be the first one. Thanks for the info.
