    Mudbugs

Bream color that I'm playing with. Cut the little eyes of two of them and put a bigger eye to see if it helps the look.
  2. Hey, I'm doing pretty good. I started with nothing and still got half of it left!!! LOL.
  3. Not for sure, but just by reading your post, sounds like your using sc9000. I had that same problem. I found out later, that the lures I done that came out slick and looked good was in the cooler months. When I dip my lures in the warmer months they orange peeled. It's like the clear skimmed over and the wet clear under the skim was sliding underneath it causing the orange peel. If that makes any sence .So! First I let the lures dry over night. Bring them inside were the temp is cool and dip them. That's what I do when It's hot outside.

    Bagley"s DB-3

Just playing around, Got out in the shop and started shooting.
  10. You'll find that the 30 minute Devcon will not do you a good job. No working time and it turns yellow after awhile. Use the 2 ton Devcon that takes 6 to 8 hours to cure. One thing I've learned, if you start a masterpiece you can't finish it in 30 minuites. One coat for bass. Be even with your coats because if you get too much on one side your lure want run correct. Devcon is good but you'll fine out DN is better.

    DD 22

Trying to do a crappie here. Wish I would have painted the eyes instead of using stick-ons.

  13. Working on my bream pattern.
  14. Stingjam, How do you laminate the two together? with PVC glue? I found some 1" thick foam board from " Tanza " that I going to try but I really wanted 3/4" to do a deep divivg flat side.
  15. Thanks' guys. I'm having a time finding some were I live. Talked with a local lumber store in town and they said that they could get me a board or two, so I'm going to give it a try. Just trying to find something different to get that edge. Nice looking crank stingjam. I like the way you did the eyes, I was planning on doing that myself, now I know I will. When I get caught up on fishing and customer's lures I'm going to get started and then post some pic's. Thanks everybody.
  16. Water slide is the way to do it.
  17. I'm thinking of building some deep divers out of PVC board. Will PVC board float so the lure will back out of hang - ups? I would like to know before I spend $$ on something that I don't like.
  18. I don't think a chip bag is a good choise. It's slick and probley would have a hard time getting paint and clear to stick to it. Something that I've used in the past is cigarette foil from the inside of a cigerette box. If you look hard enough you can find different colors of foil also. And if you don't smoke you can ask a friend to save their cigarette boxs for you, thats what I did. But, the best foil I've found so for comes from Hobby Lobby. Go back to the paints and stuff for modal cars, and there should be a small pack of stick on foil, I think from Testers. There's only 2 sheets in the package and there about 3"by 10" . They cost a little more but their thin and easy to work with. The lure I posted is cigarette foil with D2T for clear.
  19. Sorry for the double post. Was not sure I was doing it right the first time.

    What To Buy?

My best advise is: 1) Hold on to that gift card! 2) After she finds out how much you are spending on painting lures! 3) Take that gift card and buy her something real nice with it! 4) That will buy you another month of lure painting time! 5) After that month (LLH) Lie Like Hell>>>>LOL
  23. Bobp has covered all bases on this. I use the bottom of a soda can, it's works great, just clean the bottom first. The only thing that I do that was not mention, is after I brush the epoxy on the lure, I hold it up to a light so I can see the glare coming of the lure and turn it slowly to make sure I have the lure is completely covered. There's been times when I check the lure later on that I'll find a spot that did not get covered. If that happens just sand the epoxy being careful not to sand through into your paint job and apply another coat of clear.

    South Texas Cichlid

The only thing I see wrong with it is, that it's not tied on the end of my rod and reel. Looks good RG.
  25. I got one down to about 14'. I really don't like there deep diver. I'm a hard core deep cranker and do alot of target fishing (hitting underwater brush piles that I sank in 14 to 18 feet of water). The few janns 5' crankbaits that I've fished seem to hang fairly easy, telling me that they do not back out of hang ups very well and I've had to retreave them more often them the better market lures. I beleave you get what you pay for. I also beleave that the Bomber Fat Free Shad witch is the same in size will out fish the jann's 5' diver hands down. Some good deep divers for me are Bomber 9A's, Mudbugs. Rapala DT16 or 20 and Normans DD22. I also build some of my deep divers, but have a hard time getting myself to pull one down in the wood, "fear of getting hung up and losing a lure I worked weeks on to lose it in just a few minutes- but thats fishing LOL.This is just my thoughts. BUT "I sure do like Jann's rattle baits" now they will catch them in the spring.
