    McD Shad Rap

Some alternate view of my new favorite color. I was liking a bit of extra yellow tinting but I think now I'll stick with less and more of the pearl white. Let me know what you think.

  5. Came up with the novel idea after watching a Memorial Day segment on TV. As usual capturing all of the colors of the chameleon and camo are difficult with a cheap camera. And to all of those who have served our country, Thanks!

  11. I'll tell you a cheap(er) way to go to cast shad raps. Buy a Daiwa Costal Inshore rod CL701MFB (I think) provides the 7' length and whip you need. For a not too expensive reel, get a Pinnacle Inertia ISP10, and take your pick of premium lines. I like 8# Suffix. I can cast #5, 7, 8 shad raps, xraps, Daiwa Shad Masters... The beauty is, it is finesse cranking and they'll all feel like monsters. I have put together two of this combination of rod and reel just for this purpose. On any given day in NC if you can't figure them out, pick up a Shad Rap and go find rocks and docks. I got tired of respooling spinning rods so mush just to throw Shad Raps. My last go to for light cranking is an older (mesh looking blank, foam handles) Team Daiwa light cranking rod that telescopes to 7'6" along with a Shimano 100 Curado and 6-8# Suffix. This is great combo too if you can find the old rod. And the reel will be 3X the price of the Pinnacle.

    golden creek chub

I like gold and black combos, and they will flat catch fish at times.
  13. Ever had much luck with all the Rapala glass Raps or Xraps? I wasn't, until I started softening the flash and taming the colors a bit. Here is a fix applied to one of the latest versions. Now this puppy will hunt!

    bass bait

Very cool, very realistic eyes and good color transitions on the gills and back! Kudos The bait looks similar in shape to a Spro crankbait I have been using for repainting. Are those 3d eyes and did you make them or buy them? If you bought them and don't mind sharing I'd love to know from where or how you did it.

    New Flat Maxx Crappie

Well after fishing a Bandit 200 I had done in Crappie, under docks on Norman this past Sunday and catching a few I decided to do a larger bait and used a Flat Maxx. I wish my little camera took better photos. It looks even better live than on a digital picture.

  19. Geeze after looking at those baits, I suddenly feel like I am in kindergarten and that guy is Michelangelo I may retire before I start. Those Japanese guys are really good, I guess that's why their baits are so blooming expensive. I can't imagine what those baits would sell for.
  20. Well if this is your first effort at painting baits, you've been waisting time doing other stuff. Although all that other tinkering helps. Nice looking stuff, especially if this is trully your first foil! And abstract can be sooooooo good! At least at catching fisherman
  21. Well if you lived further north where the water gets cold, you're 'ol grandad would be missing a whole lot of fish he could be catching if he didn't cough up the $16 for a LC Pointer.
  22. BassPro Shops holds classes on tying flys and doing this sort of thing. So if you live near one check it out to see if they are holding any classes. You'll be tying up your own trebles in no time.
  23. Well when I think of a minnow bait, for me it all started with Rapalas and there floating versions that only dove a verys shallow amount, yet I basically combined them as a crank and a twitch. Then for me along came Smithwich Rogues and Rebel Long A's and these were pretty much only twitched but some versions went deeper, but while they still had that 'minnow' shape they were mostly called jerk baits. Well along comes the suspending versions of Rouges and Long A's as well as the influx of Japanese baits that mostly suspend and the 'Jerk Bait' acronym pretty much stuck with these baits. The shapes changed some also to create a little more random action when twitched or jerked and pause during the retrieve. So for me jerkbaits suspend and minnows float, well kinda sorta.... because some jerkbaits have the classic minnow shape.
