  1. captsully18, I too am interested in how these guys do the laminates in a two pc mold.:?I can tell you that the one pc mold sticks have a place in my tackle box ALWAYS! Have seen where the "glide" from the flat side IMO made a difference. Really like it around docks. Our lakes get hammered so hard that the fish have started to shy from regular sticks. Or mabye it is just me? I have a 2pc mold that I made from Durhams water putty, but have yet to figure out the laminate thing. Zbass
  2. Robert, Those are amazing. Gives a soft plastic guy like me some ideas about doing hard baits. Great work!!!!!!!!! Zbass
  3. Maybe we could trade swimbaits instead of a cows tounge. I have not thrown a baby e, only seen pics. What size is that trout bait? Looks good. Zbass

    motor oil

daveh, I have looked online for a good pic of zooms motoroil and can't find one that you can see well enough. This is the formula I use. 4oz plastic 1/2 tbls spn salt 4 dps LC motoroil 4 dps LC rootbeer med red flake This is pretty close to berkley's motoroil. Hope this helps. Zbass
  5. That looks good! Is that a baby e or something like that? If you got trout in your lakes that pink should shine. I personally like red and yellow eyes. Been looking for some good cat eyes in a certain size to give some of mine some cattitude. Zbass

    Hookeyes

Thanks Allen. Seems your the only one with a preference. I personally like the 60 flat eye for most of my jigs. I don't fish them that much. I was just curious as to what others liked. Zbass
  7. I haven't got a message from you yet. Let me know if I can help in any way. Zbass
  8. nugene, Sent you a PM. Zbass
  9. I guess I'm just hooked on the wicked look of cat eyes when you put them on at an angle. Makes the bait look MAD! Zbass
  10. Palmetto, Those people have a lot of selection, but what nugene and myself were looking for is a smaller cat eye than what they have. Their smallest that they have is 9mm and we are hunting for 6,7 and 8mm. Doesn't seem like much difference, but in my case I have molded the baits for 7mm. Zbass
  11. nugene, Try a web site called papercraftsource.com. Go to the embelishment catagory and they have cat eyes in 5 and 7mm. the only thing is they do not say what quantity you get for $2.50. I have not seen it. I would hate to order and get two eyes or something like that. Let me know what you find out. Zbass
  12. squigster has hit it on the head. The flirt worm would be difficult to make due to the tail. You may have to trim the bottom of the tail off to be able to glue it down. The tail will be difficult to pour also. Definatley mix your dwp to a runny pancake batter before you try to pour. I have not basted before but that seems like a great idea. Zbass

    Hookeyes

Just wanted to ask you wire guys what hookeye on jigs is the most prefered. Flat, straight, 60 deg, 90 deg. What is the preferences, advantages, disadvantages? Zbass
  16. The first coating on electrical wire on the outside is a mylar plastic. You will want to remove it before pouring. The remaining sheath of plastic should stand up to the temp for no onger than it will be hot. Zbass
  17. Thought I read somewhere in these forums about the rtv breaking down after awhile. Is that true or is that just in high use situations? Zbass

    Newbie

Hey Dave, Welcome to the underground. The people here are great. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have. There are NO dumb questions, but some of the answers you may get might be a little odd. It is great to see a young man your age making creations that he can enjoy on the water. I hope to see some of your baits in the gallery sometime. Good luck. Zbass

    newb

Fishface, Welcome to the undergound. There are a lot of great people here and they know their stuff. Don't be afraid to ask questions and also get familiar with the search function. It may save you a lot of time. Look forward to seeing some of your creations. Zbass
  22. Being a relative newbie myself, I feel the need to chime in. When I received the first PM, it kinda freaked me out. I am new to the forum thing as a whole. Never talked to anyone thru the internet before.(other than email). I didn't know how to respond or if I even wanted to. Sorry Vodkaman. Thanks for the advice. For the newbies, don't be shy. These people are great, for the most part. Mutual respect is what I have found to exist here and that is in part of what keeps me coming back. The other part is the addiction that is mentioned in almost every 'welcome' post. I totally agree that it only takes a second to say "THANKS". Zbass
