  1. Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a new injector out there and it is great! I spent the day with the injector and some of the molds that are from bearsbaits. Together these products offer a high production system. It is best used with a presto pot or larger pyrex. The reason I say that is because you are going to be going thru the plastic with this system. Here is a link to the galery of some of the baits I shot with the injector and the molds. Tackleunderground Home - Luremakers Photo Gallery - Injected Baits This pic is of a 7.5" worm, 5.5" lizard and a 5.5" busw bear. The bush bear is an awesome looking bait. Kinda like the brush hog from Zoom but IMO a better bait. All these baits are full round and can't wait to get them in the water. The molds that and injector that are part of this sytem are quality products. There have been some horror stories about injectors blowing apart or blowing back on the user. I don't forsee this happening with this product. It is very user friendly. here is the link to the gallery. Tackleunderground Home - Luremakers Photo Gallery - Injector and molds The molds are hinged similar to the DO-IT brand of molds for lead. This makes for a really nice mold. I was concerned about them being single cavity. Now that I have used them it make perfect sense. These molds cool faster than any other mold I have. This allows you to demold the baits on average in under 1 minute. That is even when the mold is hot from multiple pours. I hope everyone will take the time to check these out. For the guy's that have webstores or sell to tackle stores, you owe it to yourself to check these out. It will save you time and money. here is a link to bearsbaits. Bears Baits

    Injector and molds

This is a pic of the injector and some of the molds that are available from BearsBaits. These are a great system and together with a presto pot it is a very high production type system.

    Injected Baits

Thesse are a couple of baits injected using the molds and injector from BearsBaits. It i a real efficient process when using these items together. Combine these 2 things with a presto pot and you've got a efficient, productive and proficient pouring system.
  4. X2 on the BBCP. I heat with pots and pans and have had the same results. I have reheated it 4 times with no ill affects. MT is correct that it is only in the soft formula. I beleive bearbaits is working on some other formulas that may suit you better than the soft. If a soft texture is what you're after, check it out. Bears Baits
  5. All these guys are right on the money. What you have to weigh out is do you want your hobby to become a "job". There is a big difference between, "I HAVE to go out and pour" as opposed to "I WANT to go out and pour". I only sell to a few people. That way I can control how much "work" it is.
  6. Usually about 7-10 min. You can double that by adding 5% vinagar to the mix.
  7. They still bleed. Like stated above, you can get some interesting effects if you plan it right.
  8. That is the best thing you could do headshot. I got it and it is very well worth the money. I beleive the reason bojon put this together is because there was a vast interest in his method. He is a great guy and will help you in any manner he can. You'll be glad you got the CD if for nothing else than to have a contact with bojon. My . jimcline, I tried the wooden dowel rods and had crappy results. Tried high heat paint and thinned epoxy. I will be sticking with the aluminum.
  9. Welcome to the dark side finfever! You gonna need more plastic now.
  10. search out a member named bojon. He has what you need in the form of a rotary tube cutter.
  11. No, I believe they are different Romeo.
  12. I put my eyes on and then dip the head in clear plastic to seal them in. It works but is another step.
  13. Welcome! Your coloring will go a long way. Which brand of coloring are you gonna get? Some are a little more concentrated than others. You could get by with getting 1 or 2 ounce bottles instead of the 4 oz and get more colors. Here are some places that have colors and plastic supplies: www.bearsbaits.com www.lurecraft.com www.m-fmanufacturing.com
  14. I will lay odds that it is a sealing issue. Not saying you did it wrong or anything, but I bet that if you seal your molds again you will see an improvement. If not, I'll eat my words.
  15. Thanks for that info bass4ache! Gonna try that later. Lets see, how many drops in an ounce of color? Hmmmmm:?
  16. The light bulb just went off! If you do what you're saying nova, pretty soon you'll have a bunch of different appendage molds that you can mix and match to create different baits. Wow. What a concept. Here I've been carving and recarving appendages for all this time. New project on the horizon. Thanks
  17. Thanks PitBull. Nova and vodkaman have taught me a thing or two also. They have good advise as well. It is just that each of us has something that works for us. That is the beauty of this site and others that you can share info and find out what works for you. Thanks again.
  18. ninrigger, I have used wax for making masters and resin for my molds http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt226/zbasser/baits/creatures/35ZGRUB.jpg That is a bait that was wax master and resin mold. No spraying involoved of Pam or otherwise. Wax will melt off almost completely when the resin cures. Your mater will be gone, but you already have a mold of it. As far as using clay for a master in a resin mold, I have not done that. I might suggest not spraying directly on the master a you may get more of a mess then you want. Try brushing it on with a soft hobby brush. It should give you a glossy finish as long as it doesn't soak in the clay. The smell factor is one that I don't understand. I have not had a smell transfer that I can detect from a cured mold. resin Gets hard quickly, and you can pour in it. It takes a day or 23 before it is fully cured. After that you should not have a smell problem. I have not found that talking fish yet that can tell me if he can smell rein in my baits or not. But have caught plenty of fish on my baits. Hope that helps.
  19. maybe my smeller is broke or something, but I have used resin for 4 or 5 years and have not noticed a resin smell on my baits. Once the resin is cured, I do not smell them. I don't pour hundreds at a time so the molds dont get that hot. Maybe that is what is causing the mell you refer to. As far as the hardner goes, I only ue about 2/3 or less of the ratio on the can. if you use the exact ratio you will get cracks or splits because it has too much hardner. Hope that helps
  20. I traced around a colorado spinnerbait blade when I did mine. Works well. Hope that helps
  21. Stick with the presto TEE. i've got a Lee's pot and didn't like it all that well. They also are a stir by hand type of deal. Hope that helps
  22. What is Dels new plastic romeo? Have you used it yet? What is its texture like? How does it pour? Maybe Del can fill us in. thought he handled Calhoun's.
