  1. Thanks for the info! So far the shaping and messing around with the stuff actually works pretty easy. Yeah I read about the thicker stuff but have yet to find any small quantity and cheap, I dont want buy a big ol sheet of this only to find out I dont like working with it.
  2. I just started to mess around with this stuff, I got some from a local sign shop owner. The only thing is that the thickest he had was 1/4". So working it just like wood I glued some together using some thin CA glue, I found a website were someone did some testing and to my surprise that was the best for glue this board together! To my amazement CA glue bond this stuff in like .00002 seconds flat. Any pointers on this material? Any issues on painting this material?
  3. It think this is what he is talking about...
  4. I have used Toothpaste on headlight covers.. that seem work... I donno if I would give it a shot or not but a suggestion...
  5. Yes you can brush it or spray it... and it is water clean up.. the stuff I have and have been using is this Parma Liquid Mask 2 oz Now I have not tried it on unpainted wood bu tit works well on plastics its kinda like when you get white glue on your fingers.. when it dries you peal it off. Very true bob, but say you have a lure with a metal fin.. that you would like to keep silver this allows you to get right up next to the lure and such.. I purchased it a couple of years ago.. when I was into RC cars and painting the lexan bodies, figured I would give it a shot!
  6. has anyone ever tried using Liquid mask when trying to come up with a paint design? Tower Hobbies Search Results Maybe a good thing for repainting lures?? It tried some on a lip, and a metal fin seemed to work just fine.. peeled right off.. your thoughts?
  7. the bluegill.. was just to see if I could do the foil wrap... it has not been tested, so it pretty much floats..

    wood sealing

well I have been using a 30 min epoxy from the hobby shop for sealing the lures I have been playing around with. the stuff is used for boats.. and you can sand it and paint on it.. we will see here in a couple of weeks how it holds up.. My fishing buddy who we started this lure making adventure on is going musky fishing .. and this is what we sealed all of the lures we are making for him Will let ya know though..
  9. OK... well I just got my unpainted lures today.. so I figured I would try my luck... OH also the bluegill is the foil job... he is included aswell.. but he was hand carved and hand painted.... it was just a see if I could do it type lure.... well lets get these posted..
  10. OK I have to thank you.. being new to this and all.. I got an airbrush about5 days ago.... I tried playing with acrylic paints, mixing them with water and such.. just to play with..... and see how this brush works b4 I start on trying to paint a lure.... and well I have to say THANK YOU.. on the windex tip and paint ratio... WOW.. that cleared up my issues!!!! Pictures to come one I figure out what colors I wanna try!!!
  11. Another newbie thought on this topic, has anyone tried to use a piece of leather to make the joints?
  12. Hello ALL, YES another newbie tackle maker here, I will eventually get some lures posted for some pointers!! But as I search and read over threads, I am finding that it seems to be a great Idea to create patterns so that you can duplicate the lure as needed.... Well I have played with a FREE program called google sketched up a little when it first came out, but now I am sitting here wondering if anyone has played with it for lure making?? This seems like it might be a great way to develop and share ideas with others.
