  1. Killer job. Love it. The video you put together is like a movie trailer. I especially like the underwater scenes with the backlit lights up against the audio track. Coming to a theatre or lake near you soon! - bob

    Big Tic

    beautiful... love the eyes also...

    Purple Midnight

This one is my favorite yet of your baits. Fluid flow of the body shape to the tail. Nice paint job and colors. That glow tail should invoke a strike or two.

    pregnant micro frog

Looks great. Swims great at both low and high speeds. Nice work. interesting that you made it pregnant. Juicy target for sure.

    Smallie pattern

Looks nice from afar. Pattern looks to be spot on.
  6. I caught this episode also. The fact that he was just eyeballing things and guessing where to hang the hooks is, I think a case of "he's done this many times before". I did like the fact that he was pretty care free about the whole deal. If it didn't work he'd make another one. You could tell he was having fun and the passion was there to make, modify and build baits. Great show. – bob

    Couple of New Triggers

Nice looking details on the carving, paint/finish. I like the size of these two, bet they get hammered. You may want to make a few more.

    XM7 And Bloodline perch

    6 Inch Muskie Topwater

Should mulch the weeds with the best of them. Nice belly detail.

Pete, Thanks for posting the pics and the detailed "how to". You're right though when you try to explain it, it's difficult but you did a fine job. For me a picture is truly worth a thousand words. I think I'll grab a few yards of wire, a beer, turn a game on the tube and take a run at making a set of these critters. I may need more beer.
  11. Excellent. I was following the "domed eyes" thread in the forum where you show this bait unfinished. Sure looks nice with the top coat. The eyes turned out great. Those hinges are nice. How'd you put these together? Not only how are they built, but how are they connected together. Probably another custom tool you whipped together. Your style of bait transfers well from bait to bait. I know immediately when I see one of yours without looking at the builder's name. I do like the what you've been doing with your paint jobs lately. Much like Vince's work there is a tasteful understated refinement that is quite appealing in your work.

    Plum Purple Shad

I love what you're doing with your colors. I know you favor the enamels, I'm still fighting the good fight with the water based paints. Your paint jobs especially when using pearls are really on another level, a higher that is. Keep sending the pics, I know you probably have some new styles on the table that you've been carving now that the lakes are froze and the hunting season is over. Vince what are you using to make those eyes? A poured resin and then paint? I've been messing around with various epoxies but the results have been less than acceptable.

    Green River Minnow

The more I look at this one the more I like it. At first glance I wasn't sure about the stepped back line but it works. Your paint, the lateral red line and the way the it's jointed really pull this bait together. Nice graceful third section also. To pull this off from a simple description from your buddy is fantastic. He should be pleased. I'd love to have one in my ever growing arsenal.
  14. Thanks Bob. I thought there was a max limit on size you could submit. I'll give it a go the next bait I upload. Not that I'm ready for anybody to examine my mediocre work at close range but I think it's nice to see the details and a good tool for an honest critique. For better or worse.
  15. I was just browsing the hard baits gallery and have a question about posting pics. Vince, aka Fatfingers just posted a pic of his latest work, (beautiful btw) when you click on the pic you get a expanded view close-up. How do you do this? I think it's nice to be able to see the paint and details. A learning tool for sure. Tackleunderground Home - Luremakers Photo Gallery - 4 inch Musky crankbait Thanks

I think you'll scare the fish with this one. Bad Ass.

    Waiting for D2T

Anyway to post better pics and get a true look at them? You put all this work into them, it's time to show them off. From what I can see you have a nice color palette rolling.
  18. I have a Jet Mini Lathe that I picked up used on craigslist. I shopped around for quite awhile and checked many brands outs before opting on the Jet. Like many other comments here you have to decide what and how you plan on using this tool. Myself, I knew going into it I was primarily going to use it for bait building and the mini lathe fit the bill. No complaints so far. As Mark noted, sharp chisels are a must, protect the eyes, no loose clothing, a dust mask and you're in business. Play time.

    4 inch Musky crankbait

Really like what you've done with paint and transitions in textures from the scales to the gill area. Absolutely beautiful work. Sure gets me fired up to get back into the paint booth.

    First Underground swimbait

Nice work. I really like the eyes and positioning of them. Did you place a different type of reflective material in the cheeks? Hard to tell from the pics. Hooks look a bit small. Look forward to seeing future baits from you.

    Deep divers

Nice paint and finish, clean work. Those lips are crazy long. Are they made from circuit board material?

    First Adventures In Foiling

You are a king with the rattle cans. These look great. I like the abrupt ending to the tail/backsides. Nice shapes. Should run nice too. Good idea leaving a square end attached and then moving onto the milling machine for the lip slots and hook alignment/placement. I employ a similar tactic. Sure makes life easier having something square to work off of.
  23. I'll take some pics and post them. I'm in the process of adding some bearings one the ends of the main spindle to make things a little smoother. Right now it's metal on metal.
  24. Looks nice. It also looks like you have some adjustability with the wheels, also nice. I had a similar set up with that same motor but the noise drove me crazy. I ended up finding a rotisserie and hi-jacked the mechanics out of it. Works great and is whisper quiet. Looks like you have a fine collection of baits spinning on the wheel. Look forward to seeing the end product.

    B-jerks

Great looking work, all of them. I like the color on the black one, especially that fin. It's always interesting to see what people do with paint on multiple same shaped baits. The pattern on the red one is nice. I notice the center hook eye is not completely screwed in yet. Do you install the eyes after paint? If so do you seal them with anything?
