    Three little trout

Nice looking batch of angry lures. Really like the paint and patterns. Bet these things really wobble.
  3. That paint really jumps. I imagine it will be compounded in the h2o. The whole bait looks nice, the lip, eyes shape and paint. Strong bait. Does the paint change in color as you move it?

    Finally!

Great story and congrats, one to remember.
  5. Like this series of baits you have going.
  6. John, fabulous work. Those fins work better than I expected when I first saw the post in the gallery and that flounder is hypnotic. I watched those vids about ten times, each with a smile of amazement. Love your work.

    6.5" Oak Sinker

Sorry guys for the duplicate posts. The TU site kept telling me my file was too big and was posting it anyways. Not sure how to delete posts.

    6.5" Oak Sinker

6.5" Red Oak slow sinker. Haven't time the rate of drop but I'd guess 1-1.5 ft per sec. I tried a reverse joint on this one. It works well but I really didn't find a big difference in the action compared to that of a traditional joint. If I build another one with the same joints I'll hide the hangers. I like more of a seamless look, don't think the fish will mind much the way it is now.

    6.5" Hi-Rider

6.5" Red Cedar Swimbait Thru-wire, custom eyes Rides right at the top of the water column. Kept it dark for good visibility from down under. Some of you may remember a swimbait put together and posted in the forum that I was having trouble getting it to swim, well this is based off of the results of that experiment.

    7" yellow perch

Looks nice to me Mark. Guarantee you'd fool the pike here in MN. Well done. Your top-coat looks heavier on this one, did you add more coats than normal?

    7" Cisco musky bait

Fine work. I've been messing around with custom eyes lately, they look okay but your hand painted eyes bump the bait up to the next level. I may have to give in and give it a go. Like Fatfingers your paint work and it's subtleties is just plain beautiful. The only thing that would make it look better is if it was full of tooth marks.

    articulated pectoral fins

76gator, what is amazing is John paints his baits by hand. He has a video that runs you through his process. Stellar work from start to finish.

    10 inch musky topwater

The shape of the head on this one is nice. Frog-like. The paint job is kickin' as usual and the larger eyes are superb. Love it.

    New Medium!

Interesting. My first thought was that it was rubber. I could see many possibilities with this process. Nice internal wire work too.
  19. Nice color and patterns. Your finishes/top-coat look great. You should pick a few slabs up with the group of baits. Nice work.

    8 inch Jumbo Perch

Color is spot on. I think you nailed this one. Great work.

Good lord John, what next? I'm still trying to catch up to your base model. Well done all around! Love to see the video.

    8" Slim Green Crank

Thanks guys. As always I'm surprised by the shapes, colors and patterns people gravitate towards. Lately I've been trying to keep things simple.

    First Working Swimbaits

John, Congrats on getting the swim bait to swim. I went through this myself not long ago and learned much through the fine folks here on TU and also by failure. Tapering the sides worked for me also, but some are able to get them to swim with zero taper and swim nice. Now you have a solid place to start for your next build.

    Big Doggy

This bait has a great look. I like the belly line where the green meets the off-white. Nice job.
