  1. Yeah. I have been hooked on making my own stuff for a while now. Just got into making jigs over the weekend. The only plastics I still buy are Netbaits Paca Craw. I haven't found a mold that I like to replace that yet. My buddy caught a 6.7lb (weighed) about a 2 weeks ago on the bait that I designed. Haven't received the pic yet.
  2. The one one the Jig was 5lbs. The one on the worm was 7-8lbs 23 inches and really solid/fat.
  3. Thanks man. Really exciting. I didn't say it in the original post, but you can click and enlarge the images.
  4. Just wanted to share a couple of bass caught in the last 2 days. I can't post to the gallery from work (firewall), so I just made a thread. On homemade worm: On homemade jig:
  5. Yeah, there is a thread on his forum about it incase anyone else is wondering about it.
  6. I am pretty sure that I bought Calhoun plastic from Del, but I don't see it anymore. It looks like he is only carrying PolyOne. Am I wrong or did he stop selling Calhoun? I get a lot of compliments on the plastic worms I pour, so I don't want to change it out. I just went back to his site to confirm what kind I bought and I don't see it now.
  7. Yeah man. He is an awesome guy. He has been helping me out for a while with a presto pot that I am making and stood to make no money from it. I will definately be making purchases from him in the future.
  8. What exactly do you mean by fluid bed?
  9. Barlows Tackle Shop: Browsing Epoxy Powder Paint - Regular Colors Here is a link to the powder paint. This stuff is extremely fast and has many colors to choose from. Heat with a torch or lighter for about 10 seconds and dip. You are suppose to cure it by baking it for 15-25 minutes. You can skip that process and just let them cool, but they will chip over time without curing.
  10. Anyone have a tip on how to keep the jig eye from filling with powdercoat? I am brand new to making jigs. My buddy turned me on to it over the weekend. He is green too. Anyway, he uses powdercoat to color the jigs. Directions say to heat the jighead with a torch, then dip it into the powder, but the eye keeps filling in and I am sure you all know what a pain it is to remove this stuff once it hardens. We started poking the eye while the coating was still wet. This helped, but when we cooked/cured the jighead, the eyes filled back in. Airbrushing is not an option for us right now.
  11. Thanks for the reply. What size is the knotch in the middle where the nozzle goes? I was drawing something out here. I made it 3" wide and 1.75" deep. Will this work? I am working without the pot, so this is all guess work for me right now.
  12. To clarify: I have a friend cutting this for me. I just need the specs.
  13. Does anyone have a template for the wood stands that presto posts sit on? My presto pot is almost complete and I need to get someone to cut the stand for me. I want to modify this one slightly so, if I can get the dimensions for the top, I should be able to figure the rest out. I don't have the pot in my possession at this time, so I can't measure it and come up with something. Something like this:
  14. That is what I figured. Does anyone have any tips to speed up the process? Like a fan, put them in cold water, etc?
  15. Are there bubbles in the plastic when you are pouring, or are they only forming after the plastic is poured?
  16. Is there a certain amount of time that I should let me worms sit after pouring before I bag them? Sometimes I will get a batch that won't lie/hang straight. Any tips to fix this?
  17. You guys rock. Thanks for all of the replies. -Jeremy
  18. Cool. Thanks. That looks a little more amber than I am looking for, but pretty darn close. I will get the LC color and see how it works. Thanks for the replies.
  19. What brand watermelon are you using?
  20. I know... another color Q: Has anyone been able to nail GY's watermelon red? This color works excellent at a pond I fish everyday. I pour my own worms now, but I can't match this and I don't want to buy anymore worms. The color is really dark green (watermelon) on the thicker parts and has a great color/transparency on the thinner parts. The swim senko lets you see the difference pretty well.
  21. I wish I could paint. This looks like a ton of fun.
  22. THAT IS ABOUT 4800 1" WORMS! OR 1 300' WORM!
  23. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Can anyone give suggestions on what brand to use for each color, or what they found (from experience) works best for the colors listed. e.g. Watermelon - MF 3342 Watermelon (non-bleed)
  24. The best way would be: -Put the tip of the hook through the nose and out the bottom like you are rigging a standard texas rig. -Remove the hook from the bait leaving just a hole. -Insert the eye of the hook into the hole at the bottom and out the nose. (The hole will work as a guide and reduce the amount of tearing). -Then hook the tip in the back texas style, skin hooked, or whatever you prefer.
  25. I want to post the baits that I designed a while back online for sale. Just looking for a little help/recommendations on colors. I want to start out with about 10 basic colors. Any info on which brand of colors to use/purchase would be appreciated. I don't need your recipes, just the colors and brands used. I haven't had the time or money to purchase and test them all. Thanks in advance for any replies. Here are the colors I want to start with: Watermelon Green Pumpkin Junebug Oxblood Black/Blue ...any other red/purple recommendation?
