  1. guy be very carefull of rattle can TOP COATS they are nice and fast and well they do work fine for guys like me who just cant wait to try the new paint job out. But when it come to storing the lures make sure to keep the plastice worms AWAY FAR AWAY. their is some thing in the plastic that will re-activate to top coat and in most cases ruin your work. I have been lucky since I was able to save mine. I have not tried the 2ton stuff and to tell you the truth from all I read it just takes to long. But from all I have read it seems like expoy is the way to go. Any one know what type of top coat that norman uses on its lures like the dd-22, it looks like a gel coat but i'm not sure.
  2. Well thanks for all the help guys. I have looked at DN's and the 2 ton stuff it all seems like good stuff. The only problem with all that stuff is time and ease of application. DN has to many issues when using dont do this dont do that. the 2 ton stuff takes way to long to cure and you need to keep turning the lure or it will sag not good. I really need some ting I can dip or spray from a rattle can and just hag up to dry. I have been painting a lot since I got my airbrush a few weeks ago. I like to paint about ten or more lures at a time since it takes me a long time to set up my stuff and my wife really hates it when I start painting. shes like you could be doing some thing more productive like rakeing the yard. I have not paint any new blanks but I like going out to the lake and walking the shore line to find old lure which I can give new life to.
  3. I was looking at a lot of posts regarding sealers and they all say use this use that. I guess you use what ever you can get your hands and what evers on sale. Now for my question I have a lot of super glue laying around, can I use it to seal the wood then paint or is it just used to test the bait then reseal with some other sealer:huh:
  4. Thanks guys for all the help. I need to learn how to upload pics so I can show you all the two baits I got now. I think they look real nice, me and my daughter sat around and came up with a nice and simple blue gill pattern that just pops. Well I guess I'm off to the flea market, but before that I will interrogate mife wife to see whats she knows about microwaves8O
  5. Thanks ipock2 but I dont have a drying wheel and my wife is not to happy with the money I have spent so far in this hobby.

I painted my 1st bait and it looks fine but I need to put on a top coat. I was at Wal-mart and saw a can of clear gloss acrylic spray paint(Krylon) in the rattle can section. Has any one ever used this stuff as a final top coat and achived good results:huh:
  7. Well its like my buddy says If you think its to big get some thing bigger. Well at least thats how it work here on Lake Amistad.
  8. Thanks you all, I'm waiting for my airbrush to come in the mail to get started:popcorn:I have never even tried to paint a lure, but my buddy got me hooked. He has been doing it for some time now and he turns out some cool stuff. I have read a bunch of stuff here to will help me out. pluse with a little instruction for my bud it should turn out pertty good as long as I can keep the wife forking over some money for supplies.
  9. Thanks 21xdc for your help I'll look into it. I'm also on my way to Home Depot to see if i can find a nice clear to use.

    acrylic

Has any one used the wildlife acrylics? I saw them on the net while looking for paint and there price is hard to beat. I'm just not sure if their colors are all that good. I also saw the acrylics at wall-mart are they any good or should I stay away.
