  1. Has anyone tried to add pork fat to their anise or other scents? I can't see how it can work. The fat that i save always turns white, and if left out of a frigerator, will get rancid. I no there is a bait made with pork fat added, but wanted to try it for my self. Anyone tried this? Thanks in advance
  2. The teflon pins are a great improvement,in my opinion. I got soo tired, of trying to pull the aluminum pins out of the jigs. And it leaves a much cleaner looking hole for the weed gaurds.
  3. Crock pots do not get hot enough to melt plastic. A least none of mine ever have.
  4. I pour this color alot, and I use royal blue, with 035 blue flake and green pumpkin and 015 blake flake. Different strokes fpr different folks. The fish like it.
  5. I to, am having the same problem with the color, green pumpkin,Iv'e just started using a fluid bed ,when you talk about swirling before you paint,do you mean swirl the bait through the paint,or take something and stir or swirl around in the paint before dipping?
  6. Thanks to all for your replies, I will be ordering the 4 inch bug eyed shad from Basstackle ,At least that's my thinking at this time.
  7. Thanks, 152nd street baits, that is what I really needed to no,Iv'e read everything I could find ,and read where most people were using Createx, but I didn't no If just any transparent colors was what I needed or opague, or what. This is all new to me.Up to now I just sprayed a base color of off white out of a spray can,and then added my other colors the same way.But most were enamels. Any one have anything to add,I would appreciate it.
  8. Thanks for the link,I don't understand about the mediums though,do you have to add pigment to some of the colors for special applications? I just was trying to figure out which one would be the best to shoot on lead. I no I will have to use an undercoat first.
  9. I.m wanting to start using an airbrush to paint some of my lead baits.I'm just learning to use the brush, and what I need to no is there a type of createx paint that is best for painting details on lead? I will be top coating the bait with D2T using a brush. There are so many types of createx paint,I just need some help, explaining which paint to use. Iv'e been using spray cans, and can do pretty well with them. I was given a Badger paint brush for Christmas,so I thought this would be a great place to start to learn. Any help would be greatly aappreciated.
  10. Frank, when I was looking at the Basstackle site, I must have overlooked the 4 inch slick shad, I just saw the 5 and 6. It's good to no they sell a 4 too. In the picture it looks really good, but I just wanted to here from some one who had the molds, to make sure they had good action. Thanks to every one for your imput, TU is a good place to learn from.
  11. Do any of you have the 5 inch slick shad mold.from Basstackle? If so, how good does it inject, and how's the action of the bait?
  12. I know many of you shoot swimbaits. I'm wanting to buy a injection type swimbait mold. Something along the style of the basstrix type bait. Would some of you chime in on what mold you like best, and have good luck with,in pouring and action of bait. The size I want is around 4 to 5 inches. And do you only pour these baits out of soft, and super soft plastic, for best action? I sure could use your help,as I really value the opinions here on TU. The best way to learn is to ask people who do it,day in and day out.
  13. I too, have problems with uneven glitter coverage. I was hoping someone else had figured out a way to correct this.
  14. Thanks for sharing that with TU,I thought it was interesting to hear what he had to say about spinnerbaits.Sometimes he gets a little out there, but you have to give him credit,he has won about any tittle out there. I do agree with smalljaw, people like Roland Martin and Bill Dance will advertise anything,it gets rediculious after a while.
  15. You should get a hold of cadman,he sometimes will make you a good deal on powder paint. He offered to sell me some, but I did not need any right now.He will no which paint works best, too .He uses a lot of it.

  18. Sorry to hear about your problems with your back.It seems most men have some trouble, some time in there life with their back. I too know something about your problem,as I have had 5 back surgeries,I can't fish for long periods of time ,but I still go when I can. I have a place on Barkley Lake, and after my last surgery.had given some thought about selling my place. But I decided that it is what I love to do most, and will fish as long as I can. I go out and fish sometimes for 3 or 4 hours, until i can't enjoy myself for the pain, and then I go back to my place, for the rest of the day. Sometimes I will have to skip a day or two,and sometimes not.I just fish when I can. Hope you heal up well, and don't give up even if you still have a few problems with it ,Where there's a will there's a way.
  19. I have the skirt maker from naked bait, and I love it. Different strokes for different folks.
  20. I have also found this to be true,
  21. Do you still have any plastic left?
  22. I have tried to make molds, to pour lead in, out of Durham's water putty. And yes it can be done, but what I keep having trouble with,is they do not hold up. long enough to get 2 or 3 pours out of,and then they come apart. I have waited between pours as long as 10 minutes apart, and still have the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem?
  23. Looks great, I may give that a try,the bass around here love Tequila Sunrise,
  24. I still, just use marbles in the first half, works great, and very simple.
