  1. Well if you want one like the ones you buy then the machined one is the ticket. You get what you pay for. As for laminates if you want a more definite line then a laminate plate is the answer. If you want more of what you see in the store then a two color injection system is the answer. If you think you are going to save money then buying them is cheaper. Cause when you start pouring your own it will get expensive quick.
  2. Not enough vacuum with any air driven Venturi ones. There max is about 25.
  3. Looks like the one. There is one that's sixteen quart too. But a ten inch opening is a good size. If you guys want a vacumn pump for less than 100 go to eBay. You will find many many choices. Best value vacuum is there to so you can compare what they use.
  4. Here is a parograph right from smooth on. It pretty clear how much vacumn is needed. "For vacuuming silicone and urethane mold rubber or resins (urethane, epoxy, etc.) we can suggest the following minimum vacuum pump specifications; Rotary vane vacuum pump with a minimum airflow of 8 CFM (ft3/min) or 13.6 Cubic Meters/hour (m3/h). Pump must pull 29 inches of mercury. If the pump does not pull 29 inches of mercury, you are wasting your money and time. " I know these cost more.
  5. Get one that goes above 29.4 and you will be set. For a vessel get a commercial cooking pot. Winco is one you should find a lot, in the three gallon range you will get a ten inch pot. These are the same ones from best value vacs would send you. Resturant supply houses have them. These pots are about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. That bucket will not take the vacumn pressure it take to get out the bubbles in silicone. You will need a pump like the ones on best value vacumn sites. Any thing less and you will be wasting time and money.
  7. I should have said this better, the reason for the thinner coat is so when a vacumn is turned on it won't grow to three times the size and over fill the box. Brushes can cause air too especially with such a thick compound.
  8. Well there may be some air introduced when mixing too. It can be somewhat stiff at time and if mixed without regard to introducing air you could make it worse. Like Dave said a thin coat on the master and let it cure them fill the rest of the mold. When you make another one take some time and cut the bad one apart and look at it to see if bubbles are there. I would bet there are.
  9. Well said Little Crepper. Bubbles in the silicone are expanding when it is hot and causing this. I know this sounds expensive but a vacumn chamber will get all the bubbles out but you have to work fast and make sure you master does not have any bubbles either. Don't make any molds like that any more but did back in the day.
  10. Here are my thoughts. Unless you vent the top of each bait there will be no vents when the plastic hits the the ones on the end. You need vents on the top of each bait. The nose to tail baits will not fill because by the time you get the plastic through the second gate it will not be hot enough to continue flowing. I have mostly top fill swim bait molds and have no problem filling them unless there's no vents at the top.
  11. I have had one on a pot for four or five years and it is still going. These must stay in contact with what you are heating so don't over lap them. The 100 watt one is good for a thinner pot but if it is thicker and aluminum a longer higher watt one is a better choice.
  12. Pm me your address and I will get you some. I believe I have both. Going on vacation soon so be quick about it.
  13. Yes it will. Unless your non bleed is darker. You just won't see it. I have some real good laminate colors made just that way.
  14. Maybe look at some posts about which colors to start with and save money by not buying a kits with colors you won't use. Spike its normal price is 3.45 a bottle no kit. And not much more for 4oz. Because I would want much more of certain colors and less of ones that are not used much.
  15. Sounds to me he is getting his temp up to get the plastic to a stable state and reducing it to a more pourable temp. Some plastics I guess need to get to 350 deg to stabilize the process. So don't think there is a fix in the electronics as it is just a procedure. One note on the PIDs you will find many many choices but most of the less expensive ones only display Celsius and not ferenheight so buyer beware of a good deal. Not that they won't work just have to convert.
  16. Those are the best tasting fish out on the west coast. The one in his hand is top notch eating.
  17. I can answer the price comment. This craw was derived from an actual craw that came out of a basses mouth. It was sent off and scanned to get a real copy of the animal. In order to get that kind of detail it take a long time to machine. This is why the price is much higher. He actually edited a lot of the code that was produced to get the price down that far. Not that it matters but though you might want to know a little something about that bait. So you could say that bass like it!!
  18. Basstackle will be sending his notice out today!!!
  19. Are you using the same jug or is it a new one? You could have poured off the softer stuff and now you are left with a much harder plastic. So stirring will not do any good if the top was poured of before.
  20. This may sound funny but just heat up what you want to stick to the fabric and hold it till it cools. You guys know what happens when hot plastic get on your clothes, it does not come off. Heat it till it turns runny and press. No glue needed.
  21. Not wrong but that colors real different. I would call most others a green chart. That one would be a yellow chart for sure. When you have most of the colors available you can tell a lot about them.
  22. Wish you would have said that in the beginning. The color you are probably wanting is a yellow chart. Don't know where to get that one. And that one the color of plastic is not affecting the color as it is white pearl. I believe it's the sexy shad you are looking at.
  23. I have spike its in both colors and together they are miles apart. The chartreuse has more of a green cast to it.
  24. Spikeit lure craft and Mf. They all have that color.
  25. No I am saying that I don't hold pressure and don't have to reheat anything from the injector. I have the first press he ever made and love it for what I use it for. But there are many reasons for this application I would not use it. Heck for that kind of money I would buy the Ultra Molds unit at least it holds 2plus gallons. Most of the bells and whistles are included too. As long as we are spending other people's money buy two so one can cool down while the other has another color or two.
