  1. Well then if you say it is faster for you then it may just be for you. But using that amount of plastic from my experience it is a waste of time moving plastic that can stay in one place. And if I said I have a 6 quart rite heat pot to hold my plastic would you still say it is cheap. Cause they do the same thing just hold plastic at a usable temp. Spending a lot of money on a machine does not make thing better or a replacement for hard work.
  2. Yes it can be but it could be sucked up in an injector just as fast and you don't need the holding tank. I find the press to be much better with small molds, which use less plastic. This way color change will be much less. Just saying with big molds the plastic goes so fast it seems like you are just moving it from place to place so why add a step.
  3. I have 25 for one customer but found 10 to be the best. I do pull them and cool them in water. This keeps denting down a lot.
  4. It will push plastic as fast as you need to fill any mold.Would not hold enough to do it without having a pot next to it filled with plastic ready to go. Having that next to it make me say just a presto would do it(and I do it a lot) But some need to have a machine that does something magic. I have found that hard work beats out a machine pretty much all the time. Clearance under it could be modified with a stand to hold it up higher. A nine inch bait will take about 2 oz of plastic and you will need a lot of plastic ready to do any type of production.
  5. I use two presto pots and ten molds get about 100 an hour. These are 8" baits. I pull them early and put them in water to cool. There is some tricks to it but can be done for sure.
  6. Just for the record Basstackle has them in 1.5" 2.5" 3.5" 5" 6" and 7.5".
  7. Spikeit has some soft plastic eyes that go on with there soft plastic glue. This way there is one step and you are done. They are soft and flexible just like the bait. These are made with the same glitter we use and a dot for a pupil. As mantioned before they have two types of paint for this also, if you use this method get the dotting colors they are a little thicker and work much better.
  8. It takes about 2 oz of plastic. It will be close but you should be good. Oh and by the way they do have a 6" version.
  9. Not to burst your bubble but this bait is a monster. The volume of plastic it uses could overwhelme you. Just cutting it down will make a smaller bait BUT it will have a BIG profile. The mold shoots different than most others as you need cooler plastic. About 290 will be good and demold as soon as you can. Put the baits in water and let it cool. If you don't do this it wants to dent at the head. Just due to the large belly area. I have guys that use it in the salt water all the time, and be assured it will get you some big lings.
  10. All plastic formulations are not the same, they use different products to achieve the same end result. I use to use Mf plastic and if I did not use laminated bags it would react to the one I had over time. Now I use Spikeit plastic and no reaction to the same less expensive bag. It's reaction to certain plastics it come in contact still happens.
  11. The hinges on those molds were never designed to hold the mold together for injecting. They were there to align the two halfs. Try this put a C clamp on each side right in the middles top to bottom then shoot. That wood working vise puts more pressure on the bottom of the mold which leaves the top with less pressure. I would be surprised if this doesn't work. If it does not then make sure and drill an alignment hole for a dowel pin before you takethehinge off. Then another hole for a bolt and nut.
  12. The one from Spikeit is a hilite film. Clear when held up to the light. You said opaque so that puts out that one.
  13. I thought that one too but it's to small. That bait looks like 040. Mf has a lavender that is the 040.
  14. It amazes me too. But then most things are made out of nessecety. It not really hard it just takes some thinking and a away of getting it done. Help to have some one who can make parts for you too. That's if you can't do it yourself.
  15. No he means one machine for 30-40 gallons. Thus the reason for drum storage. Not to mention all the runners that will pile up.
  16. Are you running them all by your self or do you have employees?
  17. Glad to have helped. I was heart broken when they changed it. So we're my customers. Now we can all have it back again. Unless the colors in the recipe change!!!!
  18. I thought you might say that. The number of baits my customer had to buy to make it worth turning the machine on was the deal breaker for him. He had to sell a heck of a lot of baits to keep it going. Actually sounded good for me but I don't have a market for 20k worms or 10k other baits a day. A place to store drums of plastic and finished goods. And by taking to Mike awhile ago it is not a machine that you can just let go, it has to be attended by some one to unload and wait for the next cycle to do it again and again. So now you know some of what the machine is about. Not by someone who owns one but one who has seriously looked at it. My way I can produce enough baits to keep most customers happy and do ok for me. Think hard about what you want and you will make the right decision.
  19. Reading this got me wondering what kind of numbers you want to pour. I have looked into these machines and even had a customer offer to buy one for me to use on his baits. What I found out was it was not for me, I need to change colors a lot during the day and molds too. Could be done on a big machine but takes some time. If I were to get one of these I would have to compete with the bigger company's with price and delivery times. Not going to happen for me. Really hard to compete with them when they sell baits cheap. Smaller is better for me. My prices are higher than the big company's but there is an endless supply of customers that want small runs. The price of mold will scare you a bit unless 7-10k sound reasonable to you. That is each size and style. Getting them made is a chore too. Not to many choices for big molds. And they are all busy.
  20. You would probably sell it quicker if posted in the classified adds. Look at the top of the page.
  21. Basstackle.com. They have all sizes.
  22. No this is a formula for the green pumpkin colorant. Then you have to add it to plastic. If you add these colors together you will get the old green pumpkin. I use to use this to make a pint and then add it to taste for the plastic. I hope this makes sense. It's is close to the last green pumpkin but not the one from about eight years ago. That one is way more opaque and more of an wwII army color.
  23. Probably 8 years or more. Most people don't even know what this color looks like.
  24. Found my old formula. Sorry it took so long. 20 drops Lc yellow 6 drops LC brown 4drops Lc black 1drop Lc electric blue This will be close but the last time I made it the yellow bleed. So beware. Just a note you can change all the drops to ccs and make a large amount.
