I second the part of being to soft but it is tough. The medium soft is a little harder than Mf super soft. That is the only one I can compare it to. My customers say it's tougher than most they have tried even though it is soft.

Kevin and Sarah had a baby Kevin. So some time off is expected.
-
Water and plastic don't mix. I would say no.
-
I am going with the title on the photo that says its a spoon handle that was dipped. Some could be a knife handle too.
-
Is it a smooth intersection? Any corners or ledges and it will start to roll and swirl. By the way you have some nice swirls going on. Again it is a hydraulic thing the less it has to move around the better it will be.
-
So the injectors are not together and can be pushed individually ? The principal is a simple hydraulic one, same viscosity pressure and it won't mix. Looking at the pics seems to be a pressure thing. Plus if you fill the injectors one at a time the first one is cooling while the second is hotter then there is a viscosity difference. I know it sounds easy but to get a good laminate there is lot of things going on that make it work.
-
What are you using to laminate? Are your injectors singles or are they like the Twinjector? Although temp is a big thing if you re not getting even pressure all the way through the bait one color will lead the other and not give you a good laminate. Color temp are different but does not make so big a difference with temps in the 310 range. At this temp you should get a great laminate. Know the temps and 90% of laminate problems are gone the other 10% will be in execution.

And they are not made here. Still come from over seas. Per bag was not that bad but the amount for a minimum is. Sorta weeds out the serious ones. Johnson bags were more per color and more minimum. From what I heard they were from over seas too.
-
You can check with clear bags. They quoted me 60 for each color and you would need separate plates for each size. Can't remember if the minimum bag purchase was 15k or 20k. I think my first set would be around 2400.

I have this mold. It's not like the molds you are using, it's more like an injected bait. But the nose is large enough to pour a stream of plastic through. And there are no thin spots in this mold. It is really easy to pour and not much goes wrong as long as the plastic temp is normal. It can be injected but with the insert right in the middle if gets air bubbles toward the nose. Not always but it will. It can be injected with the Twinjector but the insert causes it to mix a bit just from being in the middle like that. Picture can be deceiving though this is a BIG bait and will fill the palm of your hand. Pm me your address and I will make you one before you buy.

No still have the same ones from its beginning. Seems to be pretty much the same idea. It would take something that would make a huge difference to make me change or try. I know what I can do with these Twinjectors and haven't seen anything faster. At least in my mind. Oh and one other thing these things are built like tanks and will last a lifetime.
-
The main thing about the Twinjector is the whole system. It's not just the top cross bar it's the whole design. It is designed top fill both injectors at the same time so they start at the same height and pressure is even. The middle cross bar is just as important because of the rigidity it adds and eases the loading onto the blending block. As for buying parts from them I don't think they ever sold parts other than the blending block. To many variables and each set is fine tuned by his father before they are shipped. If you saw the video on there site, there has been a few changes since that was made. That set was the first set ever produced. Now the top caps are longer, the tubes have a little more length and what you won't see in the video is the blending block has deeper channels to keep the plastic flowing. The block also has a removable handle that with the aid of you hand will keep the block and injectors together while moving from mold to mold. I use a larger thumb screw to do the same thing now. Hope this helps.

Mf has one called blue craw fish. Thought I had a pic but could not find it.

It's not like there is a list but every time I have needed a color to replace another one from anyone, they have it. The only one that I asked for was a flor red(rocket red), they did not have it but made me one. It's not on the site still but they have it. Gotta remember they supply a lot of big company's and have made everything at least once. If nothing else they can tell you what to mix and get what you want.
-
They all settle just a bit but some way more than others. Try this get something that will fit in the bottle neck and reach the bottom and you will see it is thicker at the bottom. Maybe not much but the more you pour off the top the thicker it will get. On some colors your formula will be off as the bottle gets lower. Fluorescence are worse than most other colors. I like to know mine are mixed everytime.
-
You are right. But that works along with the not being mixed too. The hardener settles to the bottom so in a sense it is to much softener. I am a big fan of stirring just to make sure all of the settling is off the bottom.
-
Went through the same thing. Now just use Spikeit and have not had any issues yet. They have even made me some new colors. Most of them are on the thick side but not so thick they can't be shaken. Price is about the best around. Oh and they have many colors not even on there site so if you don't see it call and ask the odds are they have it.

I made a mold like that before and had the same problem. I would start pouring the tail while opening the thin opening with my other hand. This give you a bigger target to pour to. Once it was more than half full moved to the body and let it fill the rest of the way. Sorta backwards but opening the thin part with my other hand really helped, plus when you let it go it pushed the plastic up toward the top. Only works on silicone molds. Make sure there is a glove on the second hand though. I poured from one cup Pyrex cups half full.

Just have no time. I have to take time off to go fishing. Then customers get mad cause they did not get there baits. I have a daughter in law that might be interested in working the web site. But she has my grand children to watch and one on the way. When they are here with me they are a great help. But they live two and a half hours away. Maybe one day. But not soon. I could keep her busy on eBay stuff with remelts if I had time to pour them. I throw away so much plastic away cause I just don't have the room to store it. Plus swim bait sprues are not the best looking baits. Oh and if some one says do black that does not work either cause pearl shows in black. Some day.
-
Don't have anything to prove here considering the source. Just one word wholesale! Some of you guys might even have used them on the west coast. Never kiss and tell. Way to busy as it is. As for a website don't have one and never will.

I don't have to imagine I know. But you always make it sound like you NEED it but I don't because most of my baits are swim baits. Everything does not NEED to be automatic. That just adds cost that is not necessary in my eyes. I make thousands of baits by hand and no automation. Even this press is not automated. I keep an open mind and never think I know it all. We never stop learning, well some do but they know it all. This is a really nice piece of equipment and well made. But it's not for everyone. It does not matter how much it cost if it does not work for you.

While I know you have never had one in your shop so you can never REALLY appreciate the quality of this machine. It has many many machined parts and good quality components. It's a pricey unit but in hand it just plain feels sturdy. Turning handles to mix is not a big deal. And the handles are not as hot as you might think. But the unit can be so don't be fooled you need gloves.

Very nice looking system. Finally someone was smart enough to put a vented lid on. And no kitchen products. I am impressed.

Aluminium Injection Swimbait Mold For Two Colors
Frank replied to Walking Dead's topic in Soft Plastics
By design a swim bait with a GOOD tail is hard to machine. Most designs have an angle to them which does not allow it to be a top bottom mold they are side to side molds. You really liming your self that way. You will find a few fluke types but not paddle tails. The best by far are the ones from Basstackle with a flat thin tail. Any of those types would be a great baits no matter the body style. Have your buddy's chip in and get a Twinjector this way you have way more options.
