  1. No that is not what I ment and most that have been here for any length of time know what I am saying. But if YOU come on the site and say you are having a sale then that is different. Someone else might give people a heads up. You can see some of those posted once I awhile. Clarifying what someone says is your right but sometimes that does not end so well. You would know if you have been here over the past few years. Most wont find them as they were deleted. It works both way cause if someone say something about you and it is not true would it be better to fight it out on a public board or get it deleted and no one would ever see it again ever. Cause we all know you can't put anything on the Internet that is not true. Plus if you really search around many of the business owners don't fare as well as others, not that what you say does not matter but in the past others have been flamed bad. I believe there is a place for advertisers to advertise there products but not directly on a board. FrankI see you found the add place.
  2. Well said Mike. The difference I see is that I don't work for any of these company's. I don't have a banner link to a site or anything to promote me. I know you can but I don't. I have many more videos not posted in the tutorials forum because I think some are just to promote company's. most of my videos are worth way more than words and a lot of people get more from that than just words. Most of those were made to show how I do it and do not promote me in the least. Richard great point on how thing go sour real quick when the cheerleaders come out. I remember a lot of those threads and you have been here way longer than me and most others. Can someone really say it would be better with all the self promotion that other sites let go on. But then when you are on there site you are the bad guy when you disagree with what they believe as the truth. Seen it happen and has happened to me but never here. Frank
  3. Not sure why some people think the ir guns don't seem to be accurate but a thermometer has a probe that can be on the bottom or middle which give you the same so an ir gun just in a different spot. I stir the plastic and take a reading, as you stir the temp will stabilize and the reading will give you a great base to start your own findings. I have both and if the plastic gets down to the bottom the reading on the thermometer is nonexistent. When full there is about ten degrees difference but not a big deal as it is mostly for a reference. You can get an ok one from harbor freight for under thirty dollars. Cheaper if you get an online coupon. Other from say Home Depot and lowes are in the 80 range. They are used for the hvac and electrical industry so they will be in that area of the store. Use it to get a reference and get a system down that will work for you. Frank
  4. Agreed you are right but some things are better done in PMs and that is where I get most of the questions. Was there not a time when you posted a subject that it warned about such a thing? And asking for negative remarks and calling outa company was not permitted. Which it is still not I believe. Maybe a learning site was the wrong way to say it but this site is controlled by some pretty neutral party's in my eyes anyways. I think we are pretty much on the same page. Frank
  5. Shipping is something that most say they can't control. Two company's that I use only charge me what it actually cost and I really love that. They are Spikeit and MF. After the order is shipped I get an invoice with the actual costs. MFs drum shipping is the lowest I have seen with a FedEx lift gate truck but that is only half way across the country. Spikeit always seem to shop for me and find the best price from coast to coast (thanks to Amy). I try and not use the company's that think shipping is a profit center. I know it is easier but when it is not in there favor they always seem to make time to charge me the difference but won't take the time to credit me when it is not. Shipping cuts 100% into my profit and I like to keep it down. Frank
  6. I really agree with this statement. How could you compare if you really don't know the temps you heated to. All the plastics I have used are different and require different care. The Spikeit injectasol hard is the only one I could get up to a working consistency and not start to yellow. Don't use much hard though. Frank.
  7. I though this site was for learning not to promote business. Remember when people would promote there own company's and products they were deleted. When people tried to get an opinion on there product by hiding behind another name they were deleted. Not even sure if self promoting another website is what we are about even if it is learning based but sells product too. I share so people could learn not any other reason. Just the way I am. Frank
  8. Just draw up plastic and shoot. The other way just gives you bubbles in the plastic. You see when you draw up plastic it cools and solidifies almost immediately which give you particles of plastic that are not liquid. Also some injectors are made of a thicker tube so it take them longer to heat up. No matter who's injector you use you should be able to draw and shoot. As you do more it will heat up and become easier. Try and not use all the plastic as near the end it will be just a bunch of cooled plastic. If you watch any of my videos you will see my version. Frank
  9. When you say hot enough do you know what temp it is? I use that stuff all the time but no folding issue. Now red and blue yes even at lower temps it does that for me.
  10. Spike it has it made up. Pretty close too.
  11. No they are not. They sell them as post cards. Think it would take longer to line up the holes and staple than just fold and punch holes after. Frank.

    Softener

Just have not had time to figure out how to say this but with my plastic I use a weight for changing formulas. 8 pounds medium plastic to 1 pound softener will give me soft. 1/2 pound will give me med soft. But like everyone says that is to me and everybody is different. I know it is a large amount but I don't use less as it will vary a lot with small batches. Frank
  13. The size to look up is 214. I use the orange silicone ones they stay real flexible and seal better for me. Frank
  14. I know it sounds funny coming from me but single cavitys molds are not as bad as they seam unless you laminate your baits a lot. I shoot a lot of swim baits and most are single cavity just so I can laminate them properly. Also there is a lot of heat produced buy say a four cavity mold versus a two cavity one that shares the sprue nose to nose. So it does go faster but cooling the molds is a challenge. Two cavity molds that share a short sprue nose to nose are the ticket for me.

    Softener

To get what? Medium soft or soft.
  16. I live in a bigger town and have not found ANYBODY that can even come close to the price I got from Got Print .com. They made me 1k post cards(6x4) for 54 dollars shipped. They were on shinny heavy card stock printed on one side. I sent them my label I had been printing and they had the order to me in a week. Just fold them and staple. I have yet to ask if they can make me wider ones but these look good. But larger quantities are cheaper still. Cheaper than the ink I was buying. Frank
  17. I remember people saying bear had clear bags for less than you could buy them from clear bags. Might want to check that out. No small order fee from bear either.
  18. This sounds good but I have noticed I have to move the mixer around the bottom to get it all mixed up. Laying it on its side sounds good but turning a 500 pound drum on its side could be a challenge. There are already drum mixers that lay on the side just not sure if it would be an advantage or not. It would take more room for sure. Could just put a spigit to pour from. http://morsedrum.com/products/201-image.htm
  19. Do yourself a favor and open your sample outside. It is real bad smelling stuff. Frank
  20. Was actually thinking about having a round rod that scrapes the bottom with paddles above them. Just shows I have been thinking about it. Frank
  21. Yes it would but how much plastic would you say is small? I only use the Presto pots if I need a large amount. Half a gallon of each color and more would get me to fire them up. Less than that and it's Pyrex and a griddle. No stirring system there either just my stir sticks. Frank
  22. Yes the temp is lower by about 25deg. All pots vary so I will not tell you any temps. But with the new heated unit it is way below the scorching temp. By the way that scorching come from the presto because when it needs to turn on the heating element it goes full bore till it comes up. With a lower temp on the pot is gets there much faster so the temp spike is lees likely to happen. The unit for the double barrel has much less of this going on as it cycles much faster so the temp is way more stable. The original one I made was with a resistor heat controller but needed a temp gauge separate. Kyle put this together so it was way more appealing to the end user. I use a micro to heat plastic cause it is faster. You see I have two so it gets there fast. Two gallons in twenty minutes ready to go. Frank
  23. Sometimes it is a personal choice. You all know I have mine and I share how I do it in depth. I shoot a lot of plastic and when I am working I don't go off and leave It there. I finish the amount that is mixed and move on. If I just sat around and said it was good enough then it just would not be me. Kajans paddles are great and not saying I don't need to use but my system does not utilize them. You see sometimes it takes someone who injects bait to say what they would like to see not adapt what is there. This is the reason for this holder. I had another video that showed me using the Twinjector and setting it in the pots. Now it is much cleaner and being heated makes the cooling plastic melt much faster. Now there was one other thing that I notice is that heat at the top of the pots helps keep the temp up and washes the sides down. I did not mention how I heat plastic but it might help to know I don't heat it in the presto. I use a microwave and Pyrex then transfer to the pot so getting hot spots is not an issue. Again this is how I do it and everyone is different. I don't criticize how someone stirs plastic. On a paddle system it does not need to be smaller or offset. You see the Twinjector does not set on the bottom so the paddles can be cut but leave the bottom full width. In theory it should be just fine. I really like that the pots don't have to be modified so you can go and get your own and have as many as you want. Shipping on those pots are 50% of the cost of one. 30 dollar pot 14 to ups it. This is not a comparison because I don't have a shooting star. Just never saw a need at least for me. The double barrel is just one part of a system that can be tailored to suit your needs. Your needs and knowledge will lead you in the direction that will suit your needs. Frank
  24. So you are saying when I buy there plastic I sign a paper that states I won't resell it? When I buy it it is mine or do they still own it till it is a bait. I am confused trade cash for plastic and I still tell you what to do with it? Are they not in the business of selling plastic? If someone is a distributor for them then they should not sell to the public. Am I right or wrong on this?
