  1. If you want tails like ther original you probably will have to go with injection because the tails are real thin and would be tough to pour. Basstackle has a dead on one and quite a variety of variations. Free shipping is a big plus as you will have to buy an injector but it will help with the cost. His mold really shoots a nice looking bait. Frank
  2. X2 on the idea love it. Have to modify one of mine like that. Frank
  3. Here is how I pour an open mold with a vein or third color. Frank
  4. I was not trying to hide it but it is a custom mold owned by my customer. Not sure if he would approve. The results are the same as all other times 80 to 90% real good baits. I was just showing the way to use the Twinjector for large orders. Sorry Frank
  5. I needed a more productive way of injecting and came up with this. Now reheating is pretty much minimal. Frank
  6. To get all the plastic out just put a cup below and open it up. The temp is pretty much at the nozzle. To clean it I use a rod blank and move it around the rim and it picks up like a cotton candy machine. Frank

    Dels 5" CC

I have a Dels 5" cc that I just dont use. Single cavity. Shot a few times and makes great baits. Sell for 50 dollars to your door in the US. http://www.del-mart.com/shop/product.php?productid=17184&cat=0&page=2
  8. That in my opinion is a design issue. If the sprue was longer you would not need to do that. Hand pouring it is ok but injecting it can be a pain. If I had an issue like that I would design a longer adapter to avoid that. Frank
  9. Finally got some time to make a video of the unit. It is a prototype so it looks a little differant. Hope you enjoy the tour of this unit. Again this is my way of production and comments and sugestions are welcome. Transfering the plastic is a pain and ideas in this area are very welcome. Frank
  10. I bought a doit mold that was made for lure bodys and added two slots across the cavitys. Now I get an insert that looks like a double T. This way It does not slip out. Frank
  11. Lure Craft and Spike it have what you need to paint a soft bait. You should buy the retarder to reduce it, gives you more time to get it right. You can dip after but dont need to. Frank
  12. Yes it would help if you warm the mandrel for the first shots. Then the heat from the plastic will take over. MF soft sets fast and is the reason it wont fill completely. Frank
  13. When you get a chance Jim ask Kevin who actually though of the idea of the Blending Block. You might get a kick out of the answer. Frank
  14. Actually it is a good time to ask this Question again. Lure craft has some and they work well. But there is a new player now with spikeit. They have came out with some and have more of a color selection, I believe it is the same price or real close. Real toxic stuff you will need good ventilation. Buy there retarder to slow the drying process it still drys fast but gives you a little more time to get it just right. Frank
  15. How does the hook set in the new bait? I think if you refine your mold a bit more you can get some really good looking mice. I need to make something like that for Alaska. Great work. Frank

    moss mouse new fixture

If I am not mistaken Frank his baits are hollow. This is the reason for the turning apperatus. He is making hollow Mice just like the frogs from say snagproof. Frank
  17. Ok here is the honest truth. I LOVE it. It had some issues with the mixing blade when using salt. But that is fixed now. I have talked to Rick alot about it and have come to the conclusion it is worth every penny. The mixing blade is now tapered to get closer to the bottom and keeps things mixed well. I have ran about ten gallons through it and have yet to have an issue. Like I said before having four mold with two cavitys keeps you going. I have filled up some four cavity ones with out so much as a hickup. The new one will be fitted with an additional heat band to speed up the heating process( about twenty minutes) but once it is there it stays there as long as you want. Jacobs baits will have a few more units ready in days to come. Overall I really cant say anything negative about it. I have it set up to fill the tallest molds I have and will probably leave it that way. I asked him if I could post a video and he said yes. So soon I will post a video of some production.Frank
  18. I am thinking the tube idea would work. You will need to figure out how to keep it from sliding out. But think the hook will look better if it is floating. The tube does not even have to be a tube it can be a rod that is removable. Then you can make it a line through. Maybe use a high strenght rtv around that part. Good concept and a great start. Not to highjack the thread but you build rods too. Is that a renzetti or a clemmens rod lathe? Frank
  19. The swirls I think are coming from two things.Tthe plastic is to hot and the second is not putting the same amount of pressure on the injectors. That is how you make swirls in the first place. Frank
  20. Well that would be easy. But dont think there is such a public place. I talk to most of the mold makers here and with there info have come to a conclusion, They are all designing there own and not putting it in a public forum. Alot of work goes into what they do and giving it away is not good business practice. I know that there was a fued here once about this subject. Good luck in your quest. Frank
  21. Here is an idea for someone to try. Why not make your own cup that is thicker and more stable base. If you make a box and put a cup in and pour silicone around it. May be the cheap silicone will work or you might have to use the good stuff. Just a thought. Frank
  22. I am the one who posted the video. The two injectors together just make it real easy to fill and shoot without fumbling around. It is fast and easy. For me there really wasnt anything to learn. Just heat the plastic evenly fill and shoot. If your temps are close you will get a 50/50 laminate all the way through even the smallest parts are 50/50. One note on the griddle, I use it to keep the plastic from cooling to fast and NOT to heat the injectors or molds. They will get plenty hot on there own. Search my you tube channel franksrooty2 and there is a video on just the twinjector. There you can get ideas on how to attach the two together. If you have a blending block that is narrow it may be a real challenge to mount them together as they will be to close to fill at the same time. This is the reason the twinjector is wide. Smaller pyrex cups will be easier but big one almost impossible to fill because of the width. Frank
  23. Jason from Caney Creek molds has been using them for a while now. I think his are a little thicker. He said you can make your own pour spout just pinch and pour. I think he said he got his from mcmaster carr. Looks like a great idea. Frank
  24. Welcome nice to have you here. Looking forward to some of your new creations. Frank
  25. No Mark I sure dont have a 7. I make lot of these for a real good customer but only the 6. The one I have is close enough to the original the unless you see the length you wont know. Frank
