Thanks for the advice on the chemionics( I just got mine 2 days ago) And am looking forward to trying it. You definatly have a differant climate than me in CA. I can still pour in my garage with the door open in the dead of winter and still do now. As for smell I have worked in an auto body shop for 30 years now so my sense of smell is gone. I am in smell all day long. You are in an enclosed shop and need the exhaust fan. That being said I am guessing alot of your heat is going out too. I was thinking about getting something like a smoke eater fan. We have one at work that is nothing more than a giant hepa filter that cleans the air within the shop without an exhaust on the outside. The channels still have the angles you talk about but I still have had no issue with them in fact most of the time when i clean out the block it is more like a straw even with the angles.Frank sorry forgot the ruler

Thanks Del that reinforces my video with the temp gun showing the molds were room temp and shot well. I have posted before I pour on an aluminium plate that is up off the table so heat can be drawn away from the molds while I am working. I never stop from hot molds but have the ability to run a fan below the table to help get rid of some heat in the summer. It is a big heat sink. I also have one for my injectors to set on that does the same. Thanks Frank

I knew when I posted my video I would get some criticizm on how I did it. And dont mind it but at least I had the guts to do it. But most people here dont have 12 tube molds and four stick molds. That is the reason I do it the way I do it. And many people do too now. The block is lightning fast because it is thick and sucks the heat from the plastic and cools it. Just like Basstackles. I posted before Basstackle has 2 blocks one narrow and one for the twin. My bet is your new one has the same specs as the narrow one from Basstackle. Could you post a pic of your injectors on top of the block. One thing that we have not discussed here is that the plastic you use has a big impact on how easy it is to use one of these units. I have tried some meduim plastic that is hard to get out of a single injector let alone two at the same time. I think your goal is to fill all the molds you have at one time an so is mine but you have more so there is the differance between my way and yours. Glad to see some one is listening to you on the mods. Hope it all works out. Frank

OK I watched my video again and see the temp gun I think you are missing the decimal point. Frank

Well my reason for making the video was to show that it does work and that the molds dont have to be hot. The temp on the ir gun were to show that the molds were not warm. I know you have a way of injecting and do not want to change. That said how long do you have to wait to get the plastic out of the injectors and the block? I have heated up my injectors before and it just caused me to wait longer to clean out. As you cane see in the video there is almost no time waiting to clean out. And cleaning out the Twin is fast too. I would love to see your way and how long it takes to clean and refill. There is a time counter on the video and have not even looked at it or tried to manipulate it. Seems to me it would take you longer to clean out three parts especially if they are hot. I dont use thick gloves, so I dont loose my sense of touch. But then I do know thin wall injectors get hot real hot and my gloves might be lacking protection. Great mods on the block. Before it came out I told Bear to try and make the passages as large as he can. He had it at 1/4" and were already made. It may not sound like much but in there a little makes a huge differance. As you can see from your results it does. Tell me why you could not do these mods to The Twinjector? Frank

I thought it was a do-it mold design first. I think they have been in business longer havent they? I dont think we want to get into mold history here, you may not like what you hear. Frank

When I do thing for people as a favor, I have to admit I use remelts but people cant tell. Your skirts were what is called a core shot, I poured a little black is the sprue then followed it with the clear. I did use the 2oz but it does not use much plastic at all. On another note with clear I dont use it again due to its yellowing I just add color and pour something else with it. All mold makers are a little differant and a system can be used. You all just have to find one that works with what you have at the time. But keep an open mind for new ways and some day it will work for you too. Everything I am asked to make does not come from the same mold maker so I have to adapt a system that will work for me. Alot of molds does not always equal alot of baits if there is alot of idle time. I would love to see what you all can do with what you have. I have talked to alot of people about this lately and seems that everybody has a differant set of obsticles to over come. Frank

Ok you are right but think about it yes you will have to fill the injector twice as much and have twice as much plastic, because you will have twice the baits coming out. Dels molds have guide pins that come out so there is twice as many pieces to put back compared to say a mold with two nuts. But you dont have to use the nuts you can clamp six together just like you are now except maybe you will have to use two clamps on some molds with say 4 cavitys just because of the size. I am sure if you had asked Del to put guide pins that are stationary he would have for you. I understand you dont like the nuts and I dont have a problem with it but if I was doing as many baits as you I dont think the hinge is that much of an advantage over a clamp, but you still have to clamp yours too. My twinjector video show two four cavity molds with a two clamps no nuts, that is how I use molds with nuts if I have a large order. I do have some hinge mold so it is not like I dont have any. To demold them I have to get something to pry it open but with the other molds clamped I just pull it apart. One thing that can be difficult at times is the 4 cavity molds have a pretty good suction from the plastic shrinking. Sometimes it takes a little longer but you dont need tools. Frank

I think me and Jim are on the same page here. We, I think are saying if the mold were two cavitys each for the laminates you in theory would have 822 baits in about the same time. Correct me if I understood you wrong Jim. Frank

Yes it will be a strugle with 4 oz. Try double that and see how much easier it is till you get down to 4 oz or less. It is a breeze till then. And then you have to slow down because you suck the plastic so fast you will cause it to suck air in the injector. The faster you do it the worse it is. Some times it is and advantage to have a small injector like Del sells just to do small things. I use his 2 oz for my skirt molds because I do not need alot. Frank

Great pic Jon that is alot of baits. Now one comment on at least one of those molds. The beast is one mold that I cant speed up. There is so much plastic you have to let it cool a long time before demolding. But as Jim says I do believe that bait count could be bettered by more cavitys in the mold. With two people there you have a great system but every time you open a mold is time and if you double the outtake think of the numbers then. This video I made is like I said before more like a one man band thing. If I had a partner that was serious as I am I to would have a system just like yours. Now on mold count, to me anyways you only need enough molds so there is no idle time. And they only have to set long enough to demold without issue, then put it right back into rotation. So lets say with the beast mold you may need ten mold to inject then by the time you get to the tenth one you can demold. Is it really an advantage to have fifty and demold for a longer time. In this time everything has to be kept hot and cleaned out. In my video you may have noticed I have my mold on what looks like an aluminium table. It is actually that but it helps disipate heat from the mold so they wont get to hot and take longer to demold. It is raised and in the summer time I can run air below it to cool it off. Winter time no issue but the heat is there. So with my system I can use less molds and keep moving with no idle time. Like Jim says get a system that work for you, but try and keep an open mind for something new that will save you time. In production time is money. Hope this all makes sense. Frank

Getting the last bit without air is a trick in inself. After doing it with more plastic ,when there is less you have to slow down or stop and make more. I can get down to 2 to 3 oz in each but the last injections are slower. Think about it guys that are starting, when you start out with say a half cup of plastic it is actually harder to do than say a full cup. Try it and see. The heat in a cup of plastic stays hotter longer and makes it way easier to shoot laminates.Frank
-
Yes you can do that. I have a few 4 cavity molds that are in the middle but I move fast enough to get by. And Jim I thought I was in production mode but you are a master now to get those numbers. Great job. Frank

Basstackle has two blending blocks one for the twinjector and the other for single injectors which are closer together. I talked to Bear sunday and we talked dimensions for the output of the new block. His numbers were spot on Kevins so it being differant ,I would not count on it. Any other changes in my mind dont matter. The output is what matters. Your other responce to the changes were not what I was expecting. Seems to me in your mind you redesigned the whole unit. A few things that ring in my mind. You stated you want to fill 24 molds before it clogs. I am guessing these are single cavity molds. So if you had 6 molds with 4 cavitys each and two sets of twinjectors (318 dollars) you could in theroy shoot three molds set them down and fill the second set and shoot the last three. Now when you demold you only have to open 6 molds and cleanout two set of twinjectors to get 24 baits. Just the way my mind works. People say nuts are a waste of time but it is still faster to open one mold with 4 baits than it is to open 4 molds with 1 bait in each. And on the nut issue you can clamp them and just not use anything else. On my twinjector video I use a clamp on two molds that have 4 cavitys each. The thickness of the material is at least in my mind backwards. A block of aluminium will hold more heat the a thin one. A radiator in a car is made of thin pieces to release heat from an engine not a block. This does not have to be a big deal but I have a thin wall one and Kevins which are thick. The thin one gets hotter than the thick one. But if you want your injector at 330 deg it is easier to get a thin one there faster but will radiate heat out faster. Seems to me you have a way of shooting that you want to stick with and that is OK but most of the people here dont have 24 molds of one bait so this system works. The most cavitys of one design I have is 4 and I am OK with that. Except for worms but dont pour many of those. Frank

They are pretty much like pearls. They are dry and give the hugh of the color they represent. Added to virgin plastic it almost like they are milky white but at an angle you will see the color they represent. Good addition to any color arsinal you have. They give you so many variations. Some actually have a color to them like red and olive. Frank

So why not just buy Bears injection machine and be done with it. I hear it will do what you want and then some. I want to see what is going to keep the block attached to the two injectors that are seperate so it does not fall off. If you have a good idea and dont want to share why not make your oun and market it. You make it sound easy. Let us in on the secrets you have Please. Frank
-
Yes that is exactly why I did the video Jim. I see people saying it wont work it clogs, cant shoot a cold mold and a few other minor things. But in the end it does work and has for me since it was made. I think I even have the first one sold, or very close to it. Yes there have been some updates and I think they are for the good. I think if you make a product like someone elses it pays a huge compliment to the original maker. Dont we do these thing as bait makers. We make baits like others with as much as a few changes to suit our own needs. Let me tell you all what I think makes it work. Filling the injectors with a large hole so it has less time to cool, the reason Kevin put the two together so you can fill them at the same time. He has a blending block that is closer together but you have to fill the injectors seperatly which gives them more time to cool. Then you have to push on two injectors evenly to get a consistant laminate. To much learning curve for me. I like to keep it real simple. Frank

Ranger is 100% right. The 6oz are big and the amount of plastic you need to warm up is alot. The 3oz are the ones to have easy to use and handle. Thanks for watching, Frank

Bear told me he had eyes made of pvc( same material as the plastic) and dont need to be dipped. Have not used them but did get the info from the source. Try them and let us know. Frank

A how to on injected skirt baits. I use a soldering iron to melt the two together. Frank

I see they take two differant hook sizes. With pics that big and a small screen I have to scroll alot. My attencion span wonders. Thanks Frank

Do both of the mold accept the same hooks sizes?
