Hello gang check this out. A few of my larger swimbaits went swimming in mexican waters and a 100 pound yellow fin tuna decided to eat my bait. Now the hook in this bait was not designed to be fished on these larger monster tuna but this feedback was awesome it has now given me some insight as to insert a hook that will withstand the brute force of these monsters. Those fish will soon be in those boats. In this picture you will see a standard Mustad 6/0 heavy gauge jighook that the monster fish straighten out with no problem. Per the anglers story he fought the monster for 25 minutes and the fish was at deep color before the hook went straight. The great new is that the fish found my handmade lure good enough to eat. All of this hard work is starting to pay off and has given me more of a motivation in perfecting my lures. Till next time gang. BP

Frank you got it dialed in brother. Your shad bait looks incredible. Digging the addition paints schemes you are applying on the baits it is just adding that extra touch that makes them look live, This style bait really don't do much in the water for a swimming action but it does mimic a dying shad and I have really tore up some greenies on them. I can't wait to try out the ones you sent me. I know that the fish are going to chew them up. Thanks again brother I wish you the best of the holidays and God Bless you and yours. Keep cranking out them lures brother and I tip my hat to you brother you are making some real cool stuff. inspiring work that drives me to continue to design and make my own lures. Thanks for sharing. Frank

Have you guys ever tried using Fiberglass filler instead of bondo? I would think it would bond better and it will also be more water resistant. This also is a bondo like product that will sand real easy once it sets up. There is a product by the name of MAR GLASS that can be purchased at many auto paint supply houses or I believe they also carry it at PEPBOYS Auto part stores. Frank

Hello gang this is my first attempt at making a hard bait. I carved up a little 5.75 inch proto type and sprayed these two with some rattle cans laying around the garage and gave them a single coat of clear. Here is what came out. Hardware and hook will follow. Still need to figure out the proper ballast weighting on the floating version of these baits, But in due time I will figure it out,. Till next time Gang. BP

Micheal its Big Pancho. Brother your killing me with the trying to save a buck in trying to make your master molds with a cheaper product other than silicone. When we all started this crazy hobby we all went through the same thing as you. But just bite the bullet and save and buy the silicone in a bulk five gallon pale. Remember this your baits will only be as good as the materials you make them with. Just my two cents. I am no pro at this bait making stuff but have put in a little time making a few. Brother best of luck to you with the bait business. Frank

Billy thanks for the information on the silicone. I have been playing with RTV silicone for the past three years and have never had anything like that happen to me. Than again I have never let the silicone sit for more than a week. I have never used aero silicone is it any good. What I have heard about it is durable and just a bit cheaper that the others on the market today. The only thing I can think of that caused the silicone to stick to the pan is that there was some sort of silicone spray that covered the pans surface. Thanks again for the info. Frank

Hello brother Basscandy. Thanks for the cool comment on the baits. I to had to slow down a bit. This hobby is very expensive. But its the love and passion I have for making new lures to hook a few fish. I got quite a few carving just begging to come to life that are just sitting right now. But in due time brother your going to see all kinds of neat things coming out of my lab. I also want to thank you for the well wishes for my wife. She is still battling with her illness. But our lord will provide brother!! We will fight this fight till the end. My focus is in my faith in our lord that he will work this miracle I keep asking him for. You take care and I am looking forward in seeing some of works of art. Frank Frank

CB I have been using sculpy clay for about three years now and really like it very much when carving up my baits. One tip I can give you is to primer the clay once you have it formed. Follow up by wet sanding the bait to remove all the sanding marks, If you have really deep sanding grooves you can always apply glazing puddy over the grooves . Re sand and apply a second coat of primer sand again and the bait should be ready for casting. Once you mold box is ready fasten you bait to the box and apply some pam cooking spray over the bait and inside the mold box. This lubricant will help you release your bait out of the POP. I hope this helps you with your projects. Frank

With all the wonderful baits I have seen on this site. I taught it would be cool to maybe start showing your lures in action and put up a few fish kills your lures have caught. Here is a nice size calico saltwater bass that ate my fat shad swimbait. These saltwater bass are very aggressive fighters and I really enjoy fishing for them. Take care gang. I am still yet to beat my personal best of 10.4 pounds which I caught back in the late 90's but I am still in the hunt for that big fish. Till next time gang.

Bob thanks for the nice compliment on the baits. All of these baits are top pours. I have not yet tried to inject any of my baits. One of these days I will do it right and have all the right equipment to pour these up a bit faster. It would be cool to have some of my carvings machined into some aluminum molds but I am a little low on cash flow so I have to stick to the silicone for right now. Silicone cost alone is killing me but its this love for this hobby that keeps me going. I will proceed as long as I still afford this expensive hobby. Stay tuned in for up and coming baits.

Mark the top bait is just clear with heavy silver flake. and the others silver color bellies are pearl white, Ya I have been a bit busy carving clay lately. These are just a few that just got completed. Stay tuned in I got this pretty cool looking slug that is almost done. I have been trying to cut up his body a bit to give him a snake like swimming action. I am on my second proto type mold now so I will shoot up the finished bait once he is completed. Cash flow has been a bit tight lately so I have to pace myself.
