Thanks Stratmanv for the cool comment on my new bait. We fished a few of these big baits this past Friday and had a striper blow up on one but the bastard bit the lure right behind the hook. The conditions at the lake were all wrong with many of the big fish handing in the deeper water. The bait was fished the next day on some saltwater bass and were inhaled as one of my buddies did real well catching some nice size Calico Bass on them. Thanks again for the positive feedback all of this hard work is starting to pay off. Stay tuned in more designs coming soon. Wish you tight lines. Frank

Jim another awesome color combo. It is real hard to see the blue in your bluegill. One suggestion. add a light blue spot right in back of the orange spot. You think the fish are tearing up that bait right now. Do this brother and you will see that will be a serious go to bait many anglers are going to want in there arsenal. Great Job brother Jim. Keep em coming I really enjoy looking at your pours. Till next time Frank

Jim thanks for the nice comment. To answer your question about the rear fin. Here is what I have noticed while adding this extra feature. The rear fin actually has two different functions to it. 1. it add a little bit more weight to the rear end of the bait which causes the force of the tail and fin to apply more force to the sweet spot of the bait just in front of the rear fin. 2. it works as an addition attractant as it shifts side to side along with the big tail. I hope this helps you brother Jim and good luck with the new bait. If you need help with the new design I will do my best to help out. Talk to you soon. Frank

Hello gang here is another one this one is 8.5 inches long and it weighs 3.25 ounces. I gave this one a little attitude and loaded him up with details. eyes. lips, face, front and rear fin. and added some nice flutes in the tail section. Let me know what you think about this guy. I would have poured more colors but I ran out of inserts. I need to make more. Till next time gang Frank

Steve and Frank thanks for the insight on the bait. It makes sense now to me I was trying to figure this one out if steve was pouring it with the standard plastic. I would hate for someone to get discouraged while making there first two piece mold. This is what is so cool to this site. We can all learn from one another.and boy let me tell you guys I have learned the hard way with very little help from any lure builders. I can understand that secrets are kept to one another because those folks think that it is something of there own. But remember most of these secrets were taught up many years ago by the oldtimers,Now I am not saying all of these secrets because I have seen some incredible swimbaits and lures in my time and till this day scratch my head and say to myself how and the hell did they build that. Again guys I am a rookie at this but will always do my best to help out a fellow baitmaker. Steve and Frank Keep the lure coming I have really enjoyed reading your posts. Till next time. Frank

Steve I know this is your first two piece mold and I wanted to share a little insight to improve your pours. By no means am I a pro at this but have been playing around with silicone for the past two years. I have a silmular two piece mold something like yours. The only mistake I made was I forgot to installed a vent hole on the mold. Now without the vent hole there are two things happening within the mold once you pour in the 350 degree plastic. You have to allow for explansion and contraction. Explansion for when the the plastic is hot and Contraction for when the plastic cooled down. The vent hole is very important for the mold to breathe. What I have noticed is that when you don't have a vent hole that a dimple will form in the bait durning cool down mode what is happening here is that the mold create a vacuum during its cool down phase and actually will want to pull air in from the pour hole. You can still cut in a vent line in your mold by carefully taking an exacto knife to it. I hope this help. Again just wanted to share a few tips. Good luck with your baits. Hope to see many more come out. Frank

9 1/4" bait in some saltwater colors
Big Pancho commented on Big Pancho's gallery image in Soft Baits
Jim thanks once again the the nice comments. Man I keep having new kids I feel like a baby machine. The one great thing about having all these kids is that I never have to give them swimming lessons. These fish better watch out Big Pancho is getting ready to feed them. I must be a bad dad wanting my kids to get out and fight , But I trained all of them and they will not prove me wrong. These baits are diffently going to get beat up but will win the fight. Thanks again brother Jim, More designs are a coming I just completed a slender 8 inch bait that is real whippy in the tail section if you hold the bait up in a vertical positon you would think the bait took YOGA lessons. I will post this guy up in a couple of day along with another design that is almost done. Till next time FISH ON. -

Hello gang I wanted to show you my big bait with a few modifications. I redesigned the bait and gave him a couple more body fins. I think he came out pretty good. The color mimic the 8 1/4 inch bait I just posted. Here are three colors for the freshwater critters and I will post a second picture of the big bait in some saltwater colors. Till next time gang take care. Frank

Hey gang here are a few saltwater colors on my new 8 1/4 inch bait. Colors are Blue Mackerel, Green Mackerel, Sardine, Anchovie. Brown Bait. Watch out fish Big Pancho and friends will be feeding ya real soon. Well gang shoot me some feedback and I am always open for suggestions on trying different color combos if you are willing to share. If you like any of my colors I would be happy to share the recipes with anyone. Till next time. Frank

Hello gang I was able to complete two out of the 6 large swimbaits I finished carving last week. This guy is 8 1/4 inches long and weighs 2.75 ounces. The internal lead and hook insert is something I also made. The making of the inserts can be very challenging but I think I got it figured out now. In this picture you will see three very popular colors we use here on the west coast. Rainbow Trout, Large Mouth Bass, Silver Shad. These baits will also be tested on some saltwater critter. I will add a second picture so you can see a few saltwater colors I just poured. Well gang let me know what you think about the baits and colors. Till next time. Frank

Jim your colors on that bait look great. Jim can I suggest something add just a little gold highlight powder to the top brown color and that bait will really pop. What color brown did you use tor the top color? or is that color motor oil? I am learning a great deal here on this site and it is always a pleasure logging in to see you pros at work. You got mad pouring skills Mr. Jim as I have seen many of your wonderful looking baits you have posted on this site. Thanks for sharing brother. One of these days my baits will get the time they deserve. But for right I feel I am on the right track. What I am learning in making baits is that everything is time based pouring my plastics. Well Jim keep em coming. Check in by the end of the week I got something that I think your really going to like. Till next time. Frank

Blazt that looks really nice. You just gave me a new idea about another baits. I really like the little modification you made to the bait. it would be cool to see some side fins and mouth on that thing. You are going to make me grab some clay again and make another bait that I really don't need to make. Thanks again for sharing. Frank

Jim great looking color on your new bait, Is your mold a two piece or is that a flat top single piece mold? If that is a two piece mold did you make a custom head to except the three different colors and use three different injectors. My bet would be that is a single flat top mold but I might be wrong. Keep em coming Jim. I got to carving again and just finished the fifth large bait in my arsenal. Pictures and videos coming soon. Talk to you soon. Frank

Thank for the nice comment Mr. Longhorn., I don't know about 1000 baits but I sure do have many designs and more in the works. I think thus far I am working on the 20th gallon of RTV Silicone. So you can just imagine all the proto type molds I got in my lab. I just can't get stop. Soon enough I will have to stop so I can get some time to go out and start catching some fish on some of these larger baits. My smaller swimbaits have done me justice but now want to start trhrowing some of these larger baits at some big lake bass and also going to feed some to some saltwater critters to see how long they will last being eaten up by some fish with teeth. Well thanks again Mr. Longhorn. Talk to you soon. Frank
