    new prop bait

Very nice! Are the white stripes hand brushed or done with an airbrush?
  2. Well, I just checked into my hotel room at Mariner's Landing in Huddleston, Virginia. Tommorrow will be my first day on the water at Smith Mountain Lake as an Elite Series Marshall. Needless to say, I'm excited. I participated last year and was delighted to find out I could do it again, so here I am. I will update you all with my experiences here throughout the tournament. What a marshall does is ride along with the pros during the tournament and ensure that all rules are being followed. Oh yeah, and learn from and talking fishin with the best in the business.

  4. Thanks for taking one for the team! Keep us posted.
  5. Let us know how that jewelry cleaner works out.
  6. Most popular I have seen are xacto or other hobby knife handles and hemostat forceps. You can use a block of styrofoam as a base to hold these clamps.
  7. At the store I go to it was in the aisle next to the cheap fabric style (Americana) paints. It was with the spray adhesives and all the other types of glues the carry. All I could get at my store was the larger quart? size. I suppose I'll use it all eventually...

    Beautiful! What type of paints?
  14. If you are wanting the bait to be clear to paint a "ghost" pattern, use 220 grit wet/dry paper to remove the paint then go back over with 400 to smooth it out. If not, the just use the 400 to scuff the existing paint and paint right over it. Don't worry about cloudiness on a clear bait as the scratches will be filled when you epoxy the lure and will take away that cloudiness giving you a clear or "ghost" effect.

    Hot Lipps

I start with 220 paper and wet sand to get paint off. Then I go back and smooth it over with 400 paper or a 350 sanding sponge still wet here too. Cleaning up around the hook hangers and lip is very tedious. I used the back of an exacto knife to scrape very carefully around these areas then touched up with the sand paper. It was all a bit cloudy until I cleared with Etex of course.

    Janns blank

Thanks. Its a pretty simple pattern, but one that I've gained a lot of confidence with having at the end of my line.

    Janns blank

Ghost Table Rock Shad. I based this pattern off a Rapala Glass Fat Rap that I used to catch my personal best largemouth.

  20. Great ideas! I have only tried scale masking once, just in practice. One question I have is whether to remove the masking before or after heat setting (createx). Thanks!
  21. Not sure how to edit my post but I forgot to mention that I'm talking about the blanks. (unpainted)
  22. Jann's has these available. They have been out of stock for awhile. If you are a Norman DLN addict like me, get them while you can. They are pretty close.

Did you use alum. foil or foil tape?
  24. Janns has a pretty good selection. You can also find good deals on eBay once in awhile.
