  1. Wicked or auto air would be fine the most important thing is prep and a quality clear coat like a 2 part automotive clear. I've also seen powder coated reels although I'm not familiar with the model your doing and if that's an option.
  2. My Del mold is an exact copy but its older don't know if he made any changes.
  3. Works like a charm I see your from PA as am I join the Eastern Pennsylvania Fishing Reports (EPFR) and let them know I sent ya it's free you'll like it there I can't copy and paste on TU for some reason but if you join goto the custom corner board and read the Perkiomen craw thread a very talented member has been making his own line of baits for personal use and you will get to see the progression of how its done, Darren's a heck of a guy I'm sure if you ask him some of the ins and outs he'd be glad to help.
  4. I can tell you this Sculpy is a great medium to work with as after you bake it you can then "machine it" meaning that it's hard enough to sand or dremmel to get to the level of surface finish your looking for. You can seal it with epoxy or similar material to get a really smooth surface then make your mold from RTV silicone.
  5. Let your base coat air dry with cool air before heat setting, if you heat set too early the base coat may skin over giving you the impression that it is dry and not allowing to fully cure in a reasonable time.
  6. What paint are you shooting? Are you using a transparent base? I use candies when I want it to really show thru.
  7. Check out Paul Adams on you tube he builds a phox minnow with a thru wire and internal weight, I think he even has a shifting weight option.
  8. Well you'll get way more than you paid for it, but you'll have to sell it in the dark or hope it sells quick because it is a patent infringement. And if I'm not mistaken Limar took that mold down, not sure if it was on the side of caution or they received a warning.
  9. That's the magic of an airbrush, that and a little imagination look forward to your progress good luck!
  10. Are you making masters out of the clay? If so get Sculpy polymeric clay and after you make your master you bake it to a hard but machinable part. If you want a real shiny bait you can coat the master with epoxy.
  11. Yep that's the holly grail of molds it's a copy of a Reaction Innovation sweet beaver, If you find one it will prolly be on the black market as RI is pretty protective of their intellectual property. Think they even get a little squirrely just using their image.
  12. May be me Nuno but the Yellow Magic Lures look like a foil/chrome base (inside the blank) then the paint is transparent. I didn't search the above site for glitter so I'm not familiar with that but Component systems has micro glitter that folks use for mixing with clear coat/top coat. can't help at all with gel coat.
  13. Looks like yellow base, green around the eye/gill plate then masked the white then the bars. He looks like he repositioned the netting though not sure at what layer but if you have 2 brushes you don't need to remove the netting, That's how I see it. Check out lee butz video's on youtube he made these netting holders that the larger production companies even use it looks like a tuning fork and really helps when your doing mask work, also if you don't have them yet get yourself some helping hands from harbor freight they are cheap ($2-$3) and are a very versatile tool to hold you work freeing your hands up.
  14. Sure looks like vegetable netting to me then painted in layers.
  15. Mountain dew, it's also good for cleaning battery terminals!
  16. Wow that's odd I had great success right out of the box but it doesn't take much for one to not work properly. I've since put it aside and use it for my wife's finger nails (hey you gotta keep the peace right) It was getting hard to explain all the packages coming in from Chicago airbrush supply!
  17. I haven't had any problems with my NEO but as far a nozzles go that is one of the smallest ones I've ever seen, don't drop it it's a bear to find ask me how I know
  18. Are you sure when you say airbrush their not talking about powder paint? Powder paint can be sprayed both wet and dry I personally have no experience with either but you can see it being sprayed on tj's tackles site and search "powder water" that is the additive that has been mentioned to spray powder paint wet. Either Badger or Paasche has an airbrush that will do this have a look at Chicago airbrush supply prices are pretty good there.
  19. Soft or Super soft is more often used along with softener and salt as the salt will stiffen the plastic.
  20. You got it Teflon pins but most use Loctite super glue gel as do I.
  21. Welcome aboard! I started with a NEO but I would recommend either the revolution or the Eclipse as they handle thicker bodied paints. I'm a gravity fed fan as you don't need a ton of paint and you can run a gravity fed brush at much lower PSI settings giving more control and as a plus they clean up nicely. Nice baits and good luck getting them finished.
