  1. Also split shot will hang up in rocks more often that a drop shot weight.
  2. Get a few molds from Lurecraft they are silicone and give them a test run, they work great last long and are dirt cheap in the world of 1 piece molds.
  3. Just curious about MCU, if you stored it on its lid does it still have issues with curing/skinning over in the bottle?
  4. Not sure but seems like a lot of folks are using Bloxygen and its seems to help with evaporation/skinning over.
  5. I hear ya on that always burn yourself first then put on the safety gear.
  6. Take a look under a magnifying glass it may be small pits in the resin, are you using micro balloons they tend to burst leaving very small pits in your bait. There's a thread going on about this very subject. Also do you have an inline moisture trap on your AB hose could be moisture in your air supply.
  7. That's is correct but you will now have to clean your lead, not really a big deal but I don't like doing it because of the fumes its bad enough your breathing lead fumes adding to it, well I think you get the idea.
  8. Just scoop the dross off the top, but it would be better if there's no paint the other stuff will float on top. A little candle wax to flux won't hurt either.
  9. You can do either brush or AB the manufacturer recommends to dip when you use the CoLure coat2o water based paint so I would say it doesn't hold up well. The solvent based does not say weather to dip or not.
  10. You can use the spike it dip and dye but not many colors to choose from they also have 2 different lines of soft plastic lure paints both water based and solvent based. Either one should be sealed either bye dipping in clear plastisol designed for that purpose or they make a clear coat in the paint line but I have no experience with it so I don't know how it holds up. I'm told by a friend in the business that the solvent based is better in his opinion.
  11. Yeah flake and glitter are one in the same but you will find several variants such as hex, square, string to name a few then you will need to determine size as there are 4 to 5 sizes as well. You can shoot any strength plastic in your tube mold but they may take different approaches soft likes to flash in the spline with too much pressure.
  12. Well if your using micro balloons you're almost guaranteed of pin holes because most micro balloons are actually glass spheres and they are prone to pop or burst so any on or near the surface are suspect. An etching primer would prolly resolve that.
  13. How bout Northland tackle they appear to have 3 lines of slip on skirts listed under spinner baits!
  14. I've had the same problem and I started using lighter multiple coats and that seemed to help but I was not using auto clear persay it was rattle can clear for auto use I'm now using the 4012 reducer and like it allot that seemed to fix a few other issues as well.
  15. What reducer are you using 4011 OR 4012? Sounds like your out gassing may need to give more time between basecoat/topcoat.
  16. In my opinion it allows the bait to move more natural not so rigid as it is with the old standby, after all crayfish don't always move in the defensive posture that the standup football jig provides. It also allows for more contact with the bottom.
  17. The soft plastic cookbook is at the top of the soft plastics page its pinned.
  18. polymeric clay (sculpy) works well and as far as injecting RTV that sounds scary why not use fiberglass resin? I know a guy that uses the clear acrylic (I think) seems to work well and you can see the mold fill out.
  19. There is adhesion promoters out there but I have no personal experience with them.
  20. Nothing a little JB weld can't get rid of But I have a delmart mold and as far as I'm concerned its the same as a S**ko.
  21. Yes as long as its not body filler, and my disclaimer before I'm jumped here on the subject is I don't know if body filler will work it may but my experience with filler back in the day it was to thick but the formula may have changed. For purposes of your question he is using 3M bondo version 402ES I found version 402 and believe it is the same, on 3M's website I searched 402ES and did not get a hit but if you read the MSDS sheet PDF for 402 it covers like 15 types of 402??? so I think they are basically the same.
  22. yeah go on ebay see if you can find one dirt cheap not to use but to carefully disassemble then modify and stitch the new one up.
