  1. Just a thought, I see many small hand pour operations with what they call "pro staff" well why not put a new spin on it and have couple local guys work for your product you know like a temp hire I'm sure some would appreciate the opportunity to help out with the reward of some of your product in return. Not sure about your work load but just having someone de-molding has to be a big help in production and certainly a good way to keep a pulse on what fishemen are looking for in your product.
  2. What cracks me up is every plastic supplier\manufacturer has had issues at one time or another and I mean every one of them you can't get good plastisol from any one provider and it be good all the time, price drives the issue but some swear by paying more to get quality but I never know what quality is unless you mean the batch I have now which I've had no issues this week but maybe next loyalty is cheap around this issue so buy what works for you and screw the rest!
  3. Nice to worry about the bucket but how bout the baits that don't come home on every fishing trip x the millions of fishermen No unfortunately I think we already do the damage for sure.
  4. make whatever you want just don't sell, post or provide photo's, fish them yourself and the platics police won't be over your shoulder it's when you try and profit that things will get sticky.
  5. I would recomend buying a two piece senko mold from say delmart I think he still sells a 4 cavity combo mold 2 4 1/2 & 2 5 1/2 cavities you can't go wrong with that mold plus it gives you nice usable baits right out of gate while you master hand pouring and yes for the money lurecraft molds work great. Before you purchase colorants check for recipes many with pics so you know whats needed. Recomended to start off with 4 ounce batches many recipes are based on that and take your time and soon enought you will have the disorder called a hobby.
  6. I read that rtv silicone will work for your repair, as for your pouring cup use a 1 cup model half full if your not already also root through the cups when buying as they are not made equal some have narrow spouts. I saw a video posted on youtube where the poster was using silicone baking bowls or cup for pouring you can squeeze them to make a narrow stream but think you might need gloves for that operation.
  7. It could be but I would recommend going forward as a hobby and not ruining your first experience. I started 2 years ago and I will tell you that to start count on 5 gallons or at least 1 gallon so that you have plastic while 5 gallons is on its way I bought a combo stick mold from del and a dozen open pour RTV molds from lurecraft and that kept me into it, I now have jumped to injection and love it just keep it simple at first and if you get things going then by all means go for it.
  8. no that's not what I meant, take the mold the way it is and just block the right side with the JB Weld then you'll have a top pour with sprue.
  9. Put a wad of JB weld on the right side of the mold as pictured and mold it to make a sprue hole the when you pour you will have a reservoir for additional plastic, it appears your getting an air pocket from not enough plastic available when it shrinks due to cooling.
  10. I believe I read a post some time ago that they did with the GP but not sure about the RB, you may find the post if you do a search.
  11. If your using a burner how are you gauging the temps? Sure sounds like your cooking it.
  12. yeah I have several single port muti cavity molds so I collect alot of large sprues so it's not like I don't have to remelt anyway just thought I'd ask to see if I was missing a step. Carry on men.
  13. PW I think your right that was what I was thinking that the inner wall would "set" at full draw and when I pressed the plunger down I was getting the bulk of this layer.
  14. Hard to tell from the picture is that the diameter of a tube or more close to that of a brush hog?
  15. I have an injector question but before I start this is not intended to bash any manufacturer in any way so please refrain from doing so. I have a 6 oz Basstackle injector and love it but I seem to have difficulty with an approximately 1 inch plastic plug at the end of the injection cycle i.e. I'll inject 4 multi cavity molds and when done I cannot purge anymore plastic from the injector, when I take the tip off there is a 1 inch pug of plastic left in the tube, I do cycle the injector before my 1st shot and it seems to occur from the beginning through to the end no matter how hot the molds and injector get. So I guess what I'm asking is is there something that I'm not doing to assist in this or is this pretty much the norm?
  16. Isn't that the same as a senko? if so everybody makes one, Basstackle, delmart, bears.
  17. when I started I bought del's 4 cavity senko combo mold it's a 2 piece cnc top pour mold 2 4.25 and 2 5.25 and I like it allot and still use it often even after switching to the dark side (injecting)
  18. In a sentence: "Ventilation is not an option"
  19. I'm trouble shooting a minnkota maxxum trolling motor I got with a boat I just purchased. The previous owner was up front with me that during prolonged or extended use the inline fuse would blow but I noticed he had spliced a 12 AWG lead with inline fuse now I'm no electrician by any means but it sure looks like the main wire for the motor is much larger and I was wondering if this lighter gauge wire could be the problem, does anybody know what gauge the factory puts on their motors? Also read that if you hand tighten only on the battery that that could cause an overheat arc issue which could also blow a fuse any takers on that question? Thanks in advance for any assistance offered, Chris
  20. Maybe if you had 50 gallons of plastic and a life time! That idea may work in theory but I think most will tell you that doesn't apply here, try making changeable motor oil or chameleon with that method
  21. I use an exacto knife and roll the bait and cut in one motion.
  22. Thats it thanks Ron I'll have to book mark it, it was on my desktop computer but she died and took everything with her.
  23. If someone knows how to find it I posted a web link that had around six of the major bait makers color charts just like zoom's I just can't seem to find it and it appears I can only see about a half dozen of my latest posts and its been a while since I put it up.
  24. X2 next to Bear's, Kevin has superior customer service & quality products! HaHa that's funny somehow (duh) I've popped my tip off into the cup even with the pin
