  1. Wow the power of the internet nice going there Cyrano
  2. I just bought a few of those and have not tried them yet (winter here) but I've spoken to many that have and all had good things to say but you will need to work them to keep them in the mud as they tend to ride up in the water column. And no I have not found a mold for those yet, some day soon I hope.
  3. I tapped mine with if I remember correctly an NPT pipe thread tap and as stated I tapped mine so I was just about touching the element with the nipple, that gives you the best performance on reduced clogging of your valve, also keep the nipple and valve assembly as short as possible, you may need to dry fit the assembly first to ensure a good fit.
  4. All I would add is stated above make sure its not from shaking the plastic before hand and do not use wood such as a popsicle stick to stir they will impart bubbles in your plastic. Now I have heard of drastic measures such as flaming you plastic with a torch to eliminate the bubbles but I would not recomend it.
  5. All good advice above, Jim is right injection is fairly quick to learn I would go with a kit with a quality 2 piece CNC aluminum mold of your favorite bait and also buy a few silicone molds from say lurecraft they are cheap in price will last you prolly forever and this way you can be producing a nice bait right away and learning the hand pouring as you go, but be warned a gallon of plastic is like an empty crack vile to a user I started with 5 gallons Also try to work with 4 oz recipes that way if your not quite satisfied you arent wasting plastic, most color recipes are 4 oz anywho so you should be good to go.
  6. Bass tackle has a few molds for injecting skirts.
  7. IMO I think it would be fair to state that bears injection machine is above the hobby level
  8. Try one of these folks, great products and all have a starter kit and materials needed, welcome to the madness : http://www.bearsbaits.com/ http://www.basstackle.com/ http://www.del-mart.com/shop/home.php And make sure you read up well on Jannsnetcraft all reports I've ever read is that they are trash and quite dangerous to use now mind you I have never personally used them but all reports are that they are.
  9. Dollar store plastic containers or tupperware work well, find the 1 that best suits the size of your bait / mold and your good they will release without any problems I've even used the plastic cap to the 1 gallon container it came in without any problems
  10. Sounds like how I do it, I also found that it is easier to continue to pour from cavity to cavity with out stopping. Here's how I do it I start with the 1st cavity and when it is just about full I back off the stream a bit and with a quick motion move to the next cavity, I get a very thin strip of flash or plastic between cavities and when they setup it easily pulls away with out leaving any behind, you don't even see where it was connected. Nice little bait by the way, you made that mold yourself? nice.
  11. I have used 5 gallons of their medium and other than settling out and having to mix it up after long periods I liked it, If I were to grade it based on all that I've read it is about the middle of the road with the other brands out there. I will be trying the chemionics next.
  12. I don't as there is no need to the finish is excellent right out of the mold no sticking and it only takes a few minutes to demold.
  13. I second that if you are starting out they can't be beat, I have around 50 or so molds and they work like a charm but they do have a draw back if you like fully rounded baits, but I have most that are offered by big bait companies and they are as good or very close to identical, take for example z**ms trick worm on left http://i133.photobuc...ky/DSCF0236.jpg The 2 baits on the lower left are before tail splitting and the 3 on lower right are fully rounded from 2 piece aluminum. PNF the 2 upper right are what you are interested in the first one is 7 inches the other is 5 inches also a few are custom made with silicone.
  14. Hey Fuzzy yeah they seem to like misspelling the names of baits for what appears to be avoiding conflict with the manufacturer's of said baits.
  15. All's good when I started to post the phone rang and when I got back and posted you had corrected the situation, I was scratching my head on that one
  16. FYI If your in a pinch lurecraft has a 10 inch version #5x381 2 cavity @13.75
  17. I would beg to differ, the melting point of alumnium is 1220.58 F and 660.32 C and when it comes to apples and oranges theres a difference!
  18. Check out lurecraft they have a few sluggo molds and priced right and of course they have everything you need to get started. This would be the easiest way to get started then you can proceed from there as you become more experienced.
  19. X2 I started out with del's combo mold makes nice baits.
  20. you ask a loaded question the best advice is try a search on customer service and see if you can gleen any info on who you ordered from, also most have forums see if you can get info there as well. I can tell you this not all are created equal thats for sure. A word of advice don't call them out on a public forum you will get nowhere and will only open up a can of worms.
  21. I believe the tip mold is an injection mold but you shoot the tip mold 1 color then demold cut and insert into the primary mold and proceed to shoot the main body color.
  22. outside of trying to match a bait don't count out one sided molds, there's a ton of them out there and work great and are 1/5 - 1/10 the cost of a 2 piece aluminum mold.
