  1. Wow very enjoyable read felt like I was a witness even for a short moment I felt the sun on me even though I'm up north:) Nice work thanks for sharing.
  2. Thanks guys I ordered a fluke mold from del but was curious about the dipping thing. Thanks again:worship: Chris
  3. O.K. you got me going now, enlighten me I was thinking of buying one of those dipping thingee's not for production just for my own use as I'm on the tidal section of the Delaware River and it's striper season. Is that what you've used? Oh and thanks for the speedy response:? Chris
  4. O.K. sounds good my last question is, if there hollow do they fill with water?
  5. But do they get put into the hollow portion or do you rig them like any other swim/paddle tail bait?
  6. I actually like when that happens because I get an under cut that keeps the plastic from over flowing the mold. I just let it set then run it over my flatbed sander to remove a small amount, works great.
  7. Thanks Del, I do have pearl powder and it made me wonder how the silver would work. I got the white pearl figuring its neutral and would work with almost everything. Chris
  8. I have a bottle of LC Minnow Siver has anyone tried to mix a color with this to make say silver blue or red or anything like that. I haven't toyed with it yet but was wondering how others made out. Chris
  9. I've been working with the resin and love it, a little pricey I know but you can mill it, modify it where once RTV is set that's it. I would like to hear from someone who has used RTV in a 2-piece set up it seems it would be more difficult to keep the half
  10. Appears to be 2 different approaches to this, one is a mold such as the one sold by Delmart and the other is dipping like the devise sold by Lurecraft. Your start up cost can get as high as you will let it so consider other types of baits as well.
  11. How is this type of bait rigged? is there a certain hook type like a tube jig? http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog/images/products/medium/med_Blade%20Dipper.jpg Chris
  12. Yeah but the problem I'm having with some is I read a post that said in the absence of H2O you would not get a heat reaction? Plastic and H2O don't mix so how is this possible?
  13. Unfortunately when it loosens up and becomes liquid that is when it requires the most stirring in order to keep your additives suspended.
  14. I don't think you can get away without stirring it just goes with the territory, anything you add requires stirrring like color, salt, scent or glitter - remember that plastic goes through a gelatin state before it becomes pourable at this point you will always be required to stir.
  15. I just tried it and worked for me!
  16. It all depends on how far you take it. My start-up cost is around $350 - $400 but I now can make 1000's of baits in a wide range of colors and on demand, plus it doesn't hurt to sell some to your friends to keep it going:) But you can make quite a bit with just a used microwave and a pyrex cup.
  17. Also looks like moisture infiltration if the slightest amount comes in contact with plastic you get a similar result. Is there anyway your molds have moisture trapped behind the Elmers along with the pin hole issue and can you here any noise when pouring? Just a thought. Chris
  18. This is kinda still on topic does anybody get plastic "clots" between molds, I'm working with 2 aluminum 2 Pc molds and I seem to get a clot between molds which will and does produce the same problem as Bass-Boys so I have a little collection cup and pour off before putting the mold under. Oh and I have a 3/8" hose nipple and suspect that's the culprit - Bass-Boys can you tell if you are having the same issue? Chris
  19. Thanks guys always good to get positive feedback But the negative is also welcome because learning is a group thing P.S. Removed my baits from the plastic trays and now in an aluminum tray, Thanks for the advice!
  20. Clam shell containers from the local deli, keeping eye on them don't see anything yet I ordered bags should be here soon:wink: How is everbody storing large quanities? Chris
  21. Just wanted to share my 1st volume pour, had a blast. Have all the components for ventilation system so will be working on that today;) Might even go to goodwill store to look for used microwave for two color pours.
  22. Thanks for your sacrifice but by all means ask away:yay:
  23. Do you let the top of your pour "pucker or Dimple" I found that when this occurs the top of the pour will set from the air but it will pucker inward and thats when I noticed the air pocket. What I believe is happening is the top sets and the plastic below will shrink inward on the pour thus leaving an air pocket.
  24. I found that you need to top off then run back over to top again. What I do is fill the 1st and fill the 2nd then top the 1st, fill the 3rd top the 2nd and so on until I've topped all off twice.
  25. Also you may try dental suppliers that supply rubberbands for braces. Chris
