  1. most of ri's colors are pretty simple its the flake combinations that are different; so you might be right but there salt formula throws all of their colors off somewhat. post a pic and ill help out
  2. i dropped a bears mold when they first came out luckily it was on a anti-fatigue mat and it didnt distort that side of the hinge very much. sounds like whats happened to you maybe? kind ofr easy to believe with the shape some packages i have gotten last couple of years have looked like!!
  3. frank anything that pours/shoots out of the bottom will have less bubbles even none in most cases!!
  4. very carefully dont go into the channel that the element runs thru. use a 3/8ths pipe tap and a 23/62" drill bit i believe dont remember for sure on drill bit size
  5. if it got soaked in the material forget about it coming out i have a couple pairs like that luckily i figured out to turn the openings of the molds away from me after the first pair i just didnt realize i got my wife also!! luckily it was from the knee down on both of us and they are now cutoff river shorts
  6. unless bear has changed suppliers since last year i believe his his diamond crystal and it is the finest flake salt they sell. when i say that i like it well but it is the finest grain size of flake that they sell.
  7. from what i have seen the tray that the molds sit on is only deep enough to get the depth of bears side injection molds into. if we had one to tinker with i am sure someone could make it so that it accepted other side type molds just as easily. but i defer back to my previous post as it being useful for me at the present time!!
  8. there may have been the technology for years; but the demand to make one avaiable and cheap enough just didnt go hand in hand. just beacuse anyone can pour/inject baits doenst mean they are creative enough to make a business of it. lots of people doing this but not alot of people could afford to run an injection machine. i could use one and probably mcut my time down on making laminates. but by last years sales i am not going to invest 4000.00 right now to make roughly 27-2800.00 in laminate baits i can do by hand injection. if they money appeared in my checking account tomorrow i probably would still buy molds before the injection machine!! just my opinion!!
  9. they dont clog if we are doing our part and getting the plastic out of the injector in a timely manner!! just dont dilly dally and it wont clog up!!
  10. how do you figure they are color surprises? did you just think every bait was going to be a killer? that is how you gain experience in a creative hobby in my eyes!! also there shouldnt be any wasted plastic as long as you keep the pearls and hilites down to a manageable level it can all be made into black. then you dont have to waste baby oil, colorant and flake!!
  11. EVERYONE MAKES A GOOD FROG ITS A FORD CHEVY THING BUT I BELIEVE IF YOU WANT THE BEST DEAL THAT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY CHECK THE PRIICES ON M-F PLASTIC FROM ZEINERS I KNOW THEY USUALLY ARE ABOUT THE CHEAPEST ON M-F PLASTIC.
  12. i believe all of the manufacturers will make you a kit and price it accordingly for the mold/molds you would like to start with. just starting out choose colors and baits you know that you would use yourself!!
  13. it doesnt appear to be oil based this is my assumption just a guess it should be ok to soak baits in but not advised unless its oil based to be put into plastic
  14. contact www.lurepartsonline.com it used to be stamina tackle they spin cast all of their own jigheads and have everything tomake chatterbaits
  15. its a brown just not enough colorant to bring out the brown just the reddish pink undertones. id use brown 450 from bear because i have made several colors similar to that and the salt helps seperate the darkness out and leaves you with that redish pink
  16. from the pics of the other sizes i highly doubt they would make one size that wasnt like the others??? tails are molded in on all the others...
  17. i have heard that same thing from many many people but the only mold that has given me bubbles or i should say a bubbly was a beast mold i use somehow it just takes a different amount of pressure than the others just like it. it will leave a 3/16-1/4" elongated bubble in the top claw; so i piddled with it and piddled with it and finally got it to make consistent baits like the rest of the beast molds i have. i just believe there is that occassional mold made that for whatever reason just wants to be difficult!!
  18. alot of people have differing opinions on these areas here are mine... 1. i have found that scent added either during cooking or just in the packaging is no different unless there is salt then add during cooking and it will permeate the bait more. if no salt then just during packaging. 2. always add salt after plasisol has come up to temp and before you add colorant to the plastisol. 3. the only things i can think of adding BEFORE heating is hardener and fluoroscent colors EVERYTHING ELSE IS AFTER HEATING
  19. i use the heat stabilizer condensation off my exhaust hood and drip it onto the sides of the hinge then open mold as far as possible and work it back and forth. i had heard there were a few molds that slipped thru that were not drilled out to the correct size or something along that line but it was enough to get the pins thru it just made them extremely tight. if that doesnt help in a few days of using it i have tapped the pins back and forth a few times with a pin punch i just havent ever driven them any more than like a 1/4" either way
  20. i have 6 of dels plug craw 2 cavity molds and i use clamps on them like you said but they are a real pain to pull apart. i had local shop press in locate pins for me only charged me 20 plus the pins no big expense there it is faster to get them together that way but getting them apart i use an aluminum 1/2" rod and wedge it in the plastic in the sprue and pry but not hard enough to damage anything these molds are tough to damage
  21. cant beat that arizona sun i ecspecially like the oxbows up river from lake martinez for some good sun and desert bighorn pictures!!
  22. thing is if all of my molds were 2 cavity doesnt mean i would get twice the production. you still have to have enough plastic ready to go and you will be going back to fill your injector more often it seems it would all work out but i can give you a good example i use to have over 30 of dels 4 and 5" stick molds and i can do right at twice the baits with 9 hinged molds; now someone explain that one to me??? i cant i just know what works for me!
  23. i sue big paperclips straightneed out and rebent and stuck into the tail of my swims to allow them to hand from a rod system from the roof joist above my head and allow them to cool before i package after i have dipped them and painted and added eyes
  24. when i said 6 each i should have made it clearer we were using gangs of 6 each of those molds to be shot at 1 time there are 2 and a half full rotations as i can shoot baits faster than they can be demolded and it has come as a very big learning curve to be able to continuously do it. you have to have someone who can demold until you run out of plastic and we run 3 full presto pots when doing big runs like that. and regretfully those were all single color baits. the most we have done in 1 round of laminates was 411 in almost 90 minutes and that coulda been higher but my speed made some inferior baits but they still sold!! as for the beasts we have 18 of those molds i am trying to get rid of 6 if anyone needs a beast mold i can take less than what you can buy a new one even with the sale i have made enough money off of them to do it...let me know!!
