  1. from time to time over the years there has been a yellowing of the heat stabilizer thats used in all plastisols you may have gotten some of that as well. but if you arent making clear baits once you add the colorant you will never know it. also you dont need to heat your plastic up tquite that hot with or without salt!!
  2. order the kelly green glitter from bears baits i have found it to not bleed or turn blue. sometimes the shade of the plastic will also make your glitter appear like it has changed. you can cut 1 of your baits apart and actually look at it to tell; but i use the kelly green from bears and it never looks anything but green
  3. i currently only use bears stick bait molds and they are a little thinner taper than a GY senko. i use the old BBCp plastic bear used to sell in soft with an 1/8th cup softener and 1/4 cup salt per cup of plastic. by the way all i use for salt is the fine salt that bear sells and i havent had any problems with it yet in over a year and a half of using it. i uised to grind mine also but this is way quicker and 1 less step. as for your colorants and glitters be sure and check the pricing from everyone unless you want to just use 1 vendot for everything if it was me id go with bears all the way 1 stop shopping for all your needs!!
  4. id like to see the large paca craws me email is jon_bursey@yahoo.com
  5. when i shoot my craws, kodiaks and stick baits in black/blue i run the blue straight m-f non-bleed blue and i keep it hotter than the black and they seem to come out great when i make them and let my customers know i have a couple thousand done they are gone that weekend...pw
  6. why does your tips keep falling off? only had that happen once early last year and i learned from that 1 experience and never looked back!! the ease of cleaning the tube and tips out beofre the next round of molds is priceless thats why ill never use any other injector than bears!! they definitely arent for the begineer if they dont use some common sense beforehand!!
  7. can you make them as small as a picasso jigs wire keeper? they are small enough diameter they will fit inside a normal screw loc
  8. i still say its a pressure problem i went out and checked all of mine and the 1/1000th shim stock i have wont go in between the mandrel and the cavity of the mold but i can push on the injector hard enough to make the ends of the tail sections come out in 1 piece on the ends; but only if i push too hard they are alot easier to work with hotter plastic and just let the weight of your hand slide the plunger down!!
  9. HOTTER PLASTIC AND DONT PUSH VERY HARD AT ALL TO GET A FEEL FOR IT I HAVE A DOZEN OF THESE MOLDS AND THEY WILL ALL FLASH PER SAY IF I PUSH TOO HARD. THEIR CLEARANCE IS LESS THAN .001 THATS THE SMALLEST SHIM MATERIAL I HAVE TOO CHECK IT WITH AND IT WONT FIT IN BETWEEN THE MANDREL AND SIDES OF THE MOLD SO ITS CLOSE ENOUGH TOLERANCE UNLESS YOU PUSH YOUR INJECTOR TOO HARD!!
  10. try cast industries in springfield, illinois
  11. the only side i have found is just pumpkinseed if you can show a pic of the bottom ill help ya out
  12. hey craig i have been using bears stuff for a little over a year and a half now and in the beginning i also popped the tips off a few times until i got used to either placing the edge of the tip against the plate holding the motor on my presto pots and then purging the plastic back into the pot that i didnt use. i never went as far as you have simply because i liked the ease of which the tip came out so it was easier to clear for the next shot after demolding,,,jon/pw
  13. mister bass in skiatook is a good place to start!!
  14. well i missed it by 300.00 on the high side from what i had discussed last march with bear...oh well it wont stop me and melly from getting 1 thats for sure!!
  15. i guess 2700-3200 but me down for a 1.00 on it!!
  16. throw it away the smell will not go away no matter how much you try and dilute it...PW
  17. do yourself a favor and check out the 2 color video bobby K. put up on bearsbaits.com it will show you exactly how to use it!!
  18. at 16 you should be able to show him how to do it correctly and he should pick up on it!! lead by example here!!
  19. i agree with jig man...hold the cavity side over a candle flame and get it black with sootthen try pouring your items and see if they dont come out for you!! let us know how it goes...PW
  20. try a medium compound from like calhouns for your toughness. i use BBCP medium in the original formula and it is just a tad softer than calhouns but i think you will like it!!
  21. i use 2 medium injectors from bears baits and the blending block from basstackle and when you combine the 2 together you have magic!! as for the tips falling out of bears inejctors i have been using them since they came out over 16 months ago and i have only done that once mine just never seem to fall out for me even when i push the plastic back into the cup you just have to remember your not filling a mold and go slow and as soon as you see the tip start to move ...STOP let it cool then peel out the tip (i never open mine up) then start all over again...good luck whichever way you decide to go!!!
  22. if you have been doing this long enough you hould know that any glassware tempered or not is not made for direct heat such as a hot plate common sense tells you that. i know we have all done it put its the wrong tool for the job.
  23. 15 per cup then multiply that by 16 cups in a gallon equals 240!!!
  24. what i have noticed with bears green pumpkin colorant is what it produces is a brownish green more brown and i prefer to sell an actual green pumpkin so i add watermelon colorant to mine also at 2 parts grp to 1 part watermelon. as for your opaqueness dont use the black but if your not gonna use salt a single drop of white in 4 oz. should get you close. as for salt i use the salt bear and lc sell straight out of the jug. just remember you will have to add more colorant to wash out all the white(salt) you will be putting into the equation but with salt you wont need the white colorant!!
  25. i personally do not make hard baits but i was reading your post and i got to thinking...i sure do wish the other forums would get back to posting reports like you did in an unbiased informative method!! my hats off to you nice article and very well written!!! jon/pw
