i am going to be sarcastic here...but i have yet to see a fish so picky they wouldnt bite a bait because of some air bubbles inside the bait??? correct me if i am wrong
do yourself and customers a big service and buy them already made from bear. i made the mistake once of buying one used from someone elses design and motor and it wouldnt stir the gelled up plastic until it had thinned down some. ended up buying all the CORRECT parts from david and now own 5 of them 3 with stirrers and love them all!!
i really dont know if anyone will ever be able to make a plastisol that is compatible with every wattage power of microwave. i am curious though if anyone that is having problems with microwave bubbles has tried using a pan and a hotplate like when handpouring started?
there are lots of companies that use "fillers" other than salt because they are cheaper than plastisol mainly i believe and for no other reason then try and make up some kind of marketing gimmick to go along with it
amd also remember to use it with the grain or part of your job will look like a checkerboard and contact cement is the only way unless you want a hard surface then go with something like a truckbed spray in lining
the purple i have comes from i-spike it and it works great for injecting and less than 330 for handpouring if you keep it any hotter for any significant amount of time it will curl and look silvery
your doing just what the rest of us have had to do as each plastic and salt ratio will make you have to adjust your coloring. dont get frustrated just be patient and go slow on the drops per cup. if you are trying to do smaller batches you have to be extremely slow as the colors will change quicker. and remember just because you have lets say green pumpkin coloring you might need some green or brown or something else to match what you like. i have recipes in my head for like 30 some odd stick bait colors and then i have a guy in SC who likes twice the amount of salt and the amount of coloring is ALOT more than my others.
how many jigs are you planning on making? if you are going to buy them by the 1000 lot you are better going directly to the only manufacturer in the USA. kayser lures in IL
welcome aboard; and please understand there is a wealth of knowledge here but 1 thing will always be the same we are all individuals and everyones choices are different. there are also literally 1000's of choices on molds, plastics, colors and all their combined combinations!! when it comes to ways to make things its easier to get started after some reading of course and hopefully you get it right on the first time then if not we can direct you towards the right or better way to acheive your desired results. if you are wanting to make inexpensive but quality molds POP is by far the cheapest; then would be RTV. if you need help searching the forums scroll back to the top of the page and just under the top right hand corner of the page you will see a looking glass and the words SEARCH. type in POP or RTV and make sure it says FORUMS beside it then hit enter and you will have several days of reading and useful instruction to get you started!! good luck and hope to hear about your attempts shortly!!
if the christmas ornament hangers are too long you can cut them down and bend into "s" shape about an inch long and that should allow you to suspend them from the rack above the element
whose colorants do you use? i am sure you are aware that once you use a oil based colorant like the ones from mf, del, bear, lurecraft, janns etc. that it is no longer a "green" product.
try your normal green pumpkin recipe as the appendages get thinner gr. pumpkin should appear more yellow ecspecially with all the filler and salt they use to make the baits cheaper!!
the lureworks drums are the clamp on and supposedly you are not to turn them on their side. even if you could without the bigger stirrer for a drum you would be standing it up to stir everytime.
thats cool i grew up in springfield and spent slot of time between stockton, table rock bull shoals and LOZ growing up and as an adult. hope to be back there by the time my 6 month old starts school!! when it happens we will have to hook up and talk baits for sure!1
