    Schools of Plastic

I really liked this color combo. Have had plenty of luck with Robowrm's Baby bluegill pattern. So I thought to myself maybe a swimbait in a similar color could produce for me

Did these today....took a bit but m confident they'll do the job
  3. Has anyone here ever used Harbor Freights little hand held sand blasted for powder coating jigs or other lures? I have a coupon for 40% off and thought maybe its decent enough that i could coat jigs and put patterns on spinnerbait blades. Its the little blaster that loox like an air brush. Any info would be great. Rick
  4. I've been at it for 14 years now...and i gotta tell you boys....i dont think i do anything right. Anyway JSC...sir...once i have my SACRED bait made..notice sacred not secret...i will share with my faceless friends here on this site.. which has probably accounted for a few its members trips to the divorce lawyers office. The reason i will share this design of designs is because i do this not for fun not for profit...but my sanity. I have three medications i take...fishing, making baits, and master baiting. For I am an anomoly for i have three generations of women residing with me my wife, my daughter, and...and...............my mother in law...thus the hobbies. I thought i would share my bit of misery with you boys. See one minor setback in my world could set off a major chain of events. But thank goodness for this site. It's helped.....by the way i will share said design but you will never know what plastic colors or scents i will put in them. Thanks for the therapy session fellas...and thanks for all the help you guys provide. My rant thus be complete. Rick
  5. Dave, I am with you...but you don't understand...that was the mold that was to take me to the bassmaster classic and the forrest wood cup (in the same year)...as a matter of fact that bait could have landed me the biggest marlin ever... I wish someone would have told me about the concrete coffin. I just thought it was pretty funny. M glad m not the only one. There is definitely no shame in my small game. I just needed to share and vent.
  6. You know JSC I kinda thought so. M gonna look it up and let me tell you i really appreciate all of the info i get here nothing "smart" about it. I have had nothing on this sight except people who have been willing to help.Sometimes the most minute of details go unnoticed or not addressed. And sometimes some of us just need a kick in the pants to pop our heads out that orifice. Thanks again Rick
  7. Okay....Here is the scenario....I enjoy making my spinnerbaits and vibrating jigs and have just recently delved into the realm of soft plastics. So I have bought some molds and dabbled in making some of my own based on info from you guys. Epoxy Resin, RTV, and....pop. So i made this killer creature bait out of molding clay that i heated up in the oven. I shelved it while i became more proficient with pouring plastic. So yesterday i take this this clay model and thought to my dumb self "It's time." So i decide to make the mold of this model out of POP. I mean hell m getting good at finding the right consistency amounts...etc....So i set up the whole thing and glue the model to my wife's movado watch box...w/o her knowledge (and no the watch was not in the box). But i 1st thought, and i know what you more experienced guys are thinking (dumb@$$), if i grease this thing well enough it shouldn't bond to the plaster...M stoked this thing will be killer. Cross between a toad a creature and a craw. Well i mix the POP and pour the plaster over my creme de la creme creature bait...i cant wait to throw this thing deep. I live in AZ and its just a bit warm right now, so I'm thinking one of my football heads and dragging this thing through some deep water blah blah blah.... So I have this brick of plaster that i plan on using as a topwater. 1st blow up i see m gonna chuck this thing and knock the tar out of the 1st fish i see....My wife summed it up best..............MORON.
  8. Well BH have you asked them?? Hey thanks for the tidbit...never thought of getting it from there...
  9. Can anyone tell me if there is a certain lead that has better qualities than that of others? I get my lead bars at the local bass pro shops. I am just wondering if there is a stiffer lead or is all lead just made up the same way?
  10. I have a dumb question...ok 2 dumb ones....1st can you do this same type of "recipe" for lets say CRAWS or shad? and what type of consistency does this "home Brew" make? is it liquidy..oily..thick or thin..etc. I have been toying with the desire to make my own fish scent, but dont even know how or where to start. Thx
  11. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this...I am looking for a swimbait jig head mold the likes of a big hammer 1/2 oz hammerhead....I was looking for a mold with just a little bit of a smaller eye socket. I know do it has the shad head mold but i was just looking for something a shade different. Any help is greatly appreciated Rick

    bluegill pattern

The pattern in the center of the pic has worked for me pretty well
  13. Thanks Jim i thought about making it thicker.....gonna give it another try.
  14. I figured there was I just felt like lashing out and airing my screw ups.....thanks dave...m gonna give it another whack
  15. Has anyone used hobby lobby's version of pop? I used for the 1st time today...as well as pop and it seems the stuff from hobby lobby, although better priced, didnt seem to be the quality of pop. It gave more air bubbles and seemed to mix thinner. I tried both while attempting to make a 2 piece mold of a hybrid craw/creature i created from chopped up baits laying around but i am getting pretty frustrated with it.
  16. This was the mold that messed up...as you can see one of baits made it unscathed....the other not so well.See attached...i hope it loaded
  17. Can anyone tell me the best way to anchor a bait to the bottom of a container for pouring a mold. I have tried all kinds of the adhesives ie crazy glue..glue gun..elmers...the best thus far has been the crazy glue but at times, especially when I pour a fiberglass epoxy mold a portion of the bait floats...any help would be greatly appreciated. Rick
  18. Too many baits....not enough money....aside from burning lead now i have gotten into plastics...this pattern seems to have worked for me and some friends who i made them for. This one's on .35 piano wire.
  19. It's always a sense of victory when you cath a nice one with something you make with your own hands....and a little help from your friends (TU).
  20. Makes sense.....thanks Joe. M gonna give it a try
  21. Can anyone out there tell me why i am getting a milky residue on my silicone mold? I tried to make a mold from the alumilite 3 i let it cure its alotted time, and when i tried to make some swimbait molds like the newest one i have posted in the gallery (bluegill swimmer) i get what i can only describe as dimples. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rick
  22. It's trial and error but i think i am getting the hang of making the mold. I call it my bluegill swimmer
  23. Thats exactly what i was looking for....man i love this sight....Thanks
  24. Can anyone out there tell me how to maintain an rtv mold? Like should i spray something in the mold and/or is there a way to keep the mold lubricated? Thanks Rick
