  1. Looks great Mav. I believe you got the colors right too. I'll have to order the paint to do it with. A friend of mine is the one wanting that color scheme painted on some of his baits. Looks like he'll have to spring for the paint. Thanks a million Mav. you nailed it. RayburnGuy
  2. Thanks guys. Looks like I'm ordering more paint. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.
  3. I used a motor out of a discarded microwave. It turns at 6 rpm's and seems to do ok. I've also heard of guys using rotisserie motors designed for BBQ grills. You could probably find those at Lowe's or Home Depot.
  4. Thanks redg8r. The lure I'm trying to match is posted below. The bait is a rat-l-trap mg68 (the mg stands for magnum) and I think that particular color might have been discontinued. At least I can't find it on the Bill Lewis web site. The color I'm trying to match is the main body color. It looks a little like pumpkin to me, but being color deficient I wanted a second opinion as well as guidance in what color paint to mix to achieve the desired color. thanks, RayburnGuy
  5. Hobby Lobby has a website, but I don't think they have a search feature. At least I haven't found one. I have a store not too far from me and I always have to call and ask if they have an item I'm looking for. RayburnGuy
  6. I would like to match the color of one bait and paint it onto a different type of lure. Could someone help match the color and would it be ok to post a picture of the lure here or would I have to post it in the photo gallery? thanks guys, RayburnGuy

    Pink Sexy Shad

Most of those specks you see are dust on the mirror. Guess I shoulda cleaned it before taking the pic.
  8. Compressors must be like ice cream. They make so many flavors so everybody can get what they like. Now I'm wondering if Rookie has any relatives in Texas? Buddy of mine does like those big girls.
  9. I think so KingFisher. When I first adjusted the nut it stopped the pressure problem I was having. I didn't spray paint until later though. Then I realized I had another problem. The paint flowed whenever you pushed down on the trigger. You didn't have to pull back on it to start spraying. I then took the valve assembly completely apart to make sure it wasn't dirty or that the o-ring wasn't damaged. Everything looked fine so I put it all back together. I was then experiencing the original problem again. I then started tightening the nut a little at a time and at the moment everything seems to be working. Paasche is supposed to be sending me some parts so we will see. RayburnGuy
  10. I finally thought about contacting Paasche since the airbrush is only three weeks old. duhhhhhhhh I'm a little slow sometimes. Buckeyedave and KingFisher were on the right track. Here is the response I got back from Paasche. Hopefully it might help somebody else farther down the line. thanks guys "Check the air valve nut and see if you can screw it in further. If it is out too far the plunger ends up blocking you air passage when fully depressed"
  11. It's not the compressor or not having enough pressure. I can let up on the trigger just a little and the pressure comes right back. I can then press down firmly on the trigger again and the pressure drops. I can continue doing this with the same results so I don't think it's the compressor. I've also watched the gauge at the regulator while it's doing this and there is no fluctuation.
  12. I have a dual action Paasche VL. When I press down fully on the trigger the air pressure drops noticeably. As long as I don't press down completely on the trigger the air pressure is fine. Is this normal? RayburnGuy
  13. I have a photo program on my computer and was wondering if you could incorporate different designs or logo's when using the Testor's decal paper?
  14. The sexy shad pattern I painted on the DD22 caught fish this past weekend. That tickled me to death to say the least. I just wanted to thank everyone on this site for all the great advice and help they so readily gave. I couldn't have done it without ya'll. Thanks guys. RayburnGuy

  17. "Its not poop, but it is a turd". rofl...... Best one I've heard in a while KingFisher. Mind if I use it?
  18. If your a newbie like me and you use masking tape to cover the bill of the bait before painting, you might want to take the tape off before you apply your clear top coat. On two baits I didn't do this and the clear coat covered part of the tape where the bill meets the body. I had the dickens getting the tape off where the clear coat had covered it. RayburnGuy

Another shad pattern on a Storm Lightning Shad. These three baits were the first attempts at airbrushing anything of any kind.

  22. Thanks for the thought Rookie. I'm probably one of the least artistic people on the face of this earth. My mind just doesn't seem to work that way. I need all the help I can get.
  23. Have done a search on topcoats and haven't been able to find how many coats of Etex is recommended for baits that will be used for bass fishing. Any suggestions?
  24. Thanks BobP. You just made my life a lot easier.
  25. Thanks danderson. I forgot all about using the search forums feature. Sorry guys.
