  1. I'm using their medium and haven't noticed any bubbles. I heat up in a microwave. I have gotten bubbles with LC 536 after having to shake it for 5 minutes to get it all mixed up (get the sludge off the bottom and mixed in). I do usually run the microwave at 1/2 power so maybe that's the key.
  2. I recently posted a method in The Docks you might want to check out. Very strong.
  3. Finally tried the pourasol. I got Med but it feel just like lc soft. It may be tougher but that is yet to be determined. Pours great. Nice and smooth.
  4. Has anyone tried any bioplastic recipes like http://www.ehow.com/how_5352809_make-bioplastic-out-potato.html
  5. I just ordered a gallon of the pouresol. Can't wait to give it a try!
  6. I finally got a chance to try this stuff out the other day. Fished for about 15 minutes and caught a 3.5 lb bass. Obviously, this may or may not have anything to do with the garlic scent.
  7. Ah...I forgot to mention that I did add garlic powder also. It really wasn't a lot of work. I didn't peel the garlic or anything. I just threw it in the food processor. For an idea how strong this stuff is I took it to work to show a fishing buddy and just opening the container for a minute got complaints from people working around the area.
  8. Crayons have worked really well for me. I tried oil pastels but didn't get the rich color I got with crayons. Greg
  9. I've been searching forever on how to make a good attractant. I think I've got one technique figured out. Now, I haven't yet tested my recipe but I thought I would share to get your thoughts. I used the same technique to make some garlicy goodness that is used to make a form of hashish called quick wash (quiso if you use isopropyl). Here's what I did. I took 2 bulbs of garlic, tore them apart then put them in the food processor skin and all. I put the minced garlic in a mason jar with some 91% isopropyl alcohol for a few days (shaking it every now and then). I then poured the contents of the jar through a coffee filter onto a broiling pan (anything that's flat and will contain the liquid long enough for evaporation). Once the alcohol had evaporated I was left with a garlic residue that I scraped up with a razor. This stuff must be what gives garlic its smell cause holy crap is it garlicy. I took the residue and added it to some unscented vasoline and mixed it up really good. If bass truly like things that smell like garlic then they are going to love this stuff. It is STRONG! I tried the same thing with star of anise but it didn't work nearly as good. The star of anise was difficult to grind up so I think that was mostly the problem. I hope to try this out soon and will update then. Greg
  10. I'm not sure about a ratio but thinner than you think it should be seems to work best. It's worked best for me when it was almost water like in viscosity.
  11. I bought a big assortment of oil pastels today and tried them out. I didn't think they work very well at all. I used a whole one in only 75 ml of plastic and it just wouldn't darken up. IMO, the crayons worked much better and are definitely cheaper. Neither works as good as real dyes.
  12. Nova, I want to thank you for making me try epoxy again. I tried when I first started making molds but I was not thinning it nearly enough so I wasn't getting good results at all. It really does have to be thinned out pretty good. I thought my worms came out nice and shiney before but they really didn't...not compared to what I get with the epoxy coating. Another benefit is that the worms pretty much just fall out of the mold. It's nice and slick. I had extra epoxy the other day that I was using to make a fluke mold so I actually coated the outside of the mold as well. That mold should last me a good long time. Greg
  13. I've tried RTV, POP, DWP and finally got a good mold using epoxy that I just tested tonight. As good as the mold looks, I can't pour it for piss. Gonna take me some practice. Greg
  14. Did the candle color leave the plastic transparent or was it opaque? Thanks, Greg
  15. I did a test to see how it worked with dyes. The yellow/greenish part is made with part of Laser Yellow crayon and the black part is scraps from previous pours using regular dye. It worked perfectly! Sorry for the huge pictures...Greg
  16. Mine were not greasy at all. I use lurecraft plastic.
  17. Has anyone ever tried dipping just the head in harder plastic? I've been wondering if that would work but haven't gotten around to trying it.
  18. It's on Del's site. http://www.del-mart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1931 Greg
  19. I saw this thread and had to try it. I snagged a few cool colors from my kid's crayon box. I decided to try Vivid Pink and it looks awesome! Melted right in and produced a nice rich color. I'll definitely have to try this again. Greg
  20. How about that. I just searched again with some different keywords and found that gremlin makes them. Still wouldn't mind finding a mold for these though. Thanks, Greg
  21. A couple of years ago I bought some clam shell bullet sinkers that I use with plastic worms. Kind of like a split shot but in a bullet sinker shape. I'm starting to run out of these things and I can't find them anywhere. I love because I can change weights, go weightless, etc without any trouble. If you know anyone that makes these things can you let me know? I've never poured my own sinkers but if I can find a mold for these things I might have to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg
  22. I've been doing the same thing with black w/ blue tips. I actually started making a tip mold. Basically, just cut some tails to length, poured some plaster then stuck the tails into the plaster. In testing, I was able to easily pull the tips right out so no reason to make it a 2 piece. I still need to seal it but it seems like it's going to work fine. I need to get this done because I've been doing really well with the black blue tips and I'm about to run out! Greg
  23. THANK YOU, Lure--Prof!!! This has been driving me crazy for some time and I knew that inside a bait caster there are only a few places where a bearing is actually needed and it certainly isn't 9, 10, or 11.
  24. Ok, this has been bothering me for some time. What does "8 bearings" actually mean? Let me clarify. If you buy a real that says 8 bearings and look at the exploded parts view, there are only 3 (at least on the reels I've seen). I've taken my reel apart for cleaning and if there were actually 8 bearings, I have no idea where they would be. Seems like every place that needs a bearing has one and 3 pretty much does it. Can someone shed some light on this? Is it just marketing crap? Thanks, Greg
  25. The search for these forums is not very good. I usually get better results using google with some of it's lesser known features swim tube site:tackleunderground.com inurl:community or "swim tube" site:tackleunderground.com inurl:community that means search for swim tube but only on tackleunderground.com where part of the address contains "community" (the forums).
