  2. Hi all, I recently picked up a couple of new jig heads at a tackle store and am very happy with the performance of these and am now looking to get a mold, can anyone suggest where i might get a mold for these? Brendan
  3. Hi all, Its been a while since my last post but i have decided to pour my own jig heads and have a few questions. I really like the look of the do it gamakatsu mold but im looking for a mold/s to pour multiple 1/16,1/8 and 1/4 jigs at a time, i would also like to use 1/0 and 2/0 gama hooks and would like the ability rhe use 2x hooks from time to time. I know im asking a lot but if you could point me in the right direction that would be great. Brendan
  4. Hi all, I may have a company funded trip to Canada coming up early September and I would like to know any recommendations for tackle stores in the US that I could drop into on the back home to Australia. Looking to do some shopping Regards Brendan
  5. Hi all, I've been looking at a couple of different molds, these are completely new lures to me so would like some feedback from the guru's. The first one is the Do-It tail spinner, i notice that these are available in three different model options can anyone tell me how these differ in action? The other two I have been looking at are the shad blade or zv vibrating lure again what are the differences in the action of these? Thanks in advance.
  6. Sorry in relation to the skirtmaster pro
  7. Hi all, I have one of the bench mounted skirt tools from barlows, is this tool easier than the bench mount? Regards Brendan
  8. Thanks guys, I was referring to the BB swivels for spinner baits. Regards Brendan
  9. Hi all, I didnt know lakeland existed, so after browsing their extensive site I hace a few questions. Swivels, as far as i can tell LL and worth are the only manufacturers of quality swivels? What i am wondering is if anyone has used both brands and what are your opinions on each? LL seem to have a much bigger range of finishes and sizes any comments on the quality? Is the customer service good and would they be reccomended? Thanks in advance PS I cant wait for winter to end here I am so over the cold fingers.
  10. Thanks for your help guys, and thanks for the feedback PSV its good to hear.
  11. Hi all, Thought I would try to add some spark into the forum with this one. I am looking for a supply of fluted willow leaf blades in both brass and copper. I am looking for lacquered in sizes 4-6. Any suggestions?
  12. Hi there thanks for the great responses any chance of some links so i know im looking at the right ones?
  13. I was wondering if there is a better method to put split rings on the blades. I use the medium opening pliers from barlows but I end up with sore fingers pretty quickly twisting the swivels around . Is there a supplier who sells blades with swivels or a Beter way to do this?
  14. If you heat the hook shaft the paint will stick up the shaft as well.
  15. Doesn't that heat the hook and the wire shaft as well?
  16. Hi all, Hope everyone had a great christmas new year and for those lucky enough a bit of a break. I have been busy building my business and refining my production methods and again reading all the back posts have been a huge help I have picked up little tips and hint everywhere. The next thing I am working on to speed the process up is a way to heat multiple spinnerbaits at the same time. I was wondering if anyone has a jig or set up they would care to share. I have made jig to hold 10 at a time by using a 2 peices of aluminum "c" sections pushed together. I have capped one end off and cut slots down one of the sections for the hooks come out of and "vee's" in the top of the other section for wire to come out out the top. Then I point the heat gun up the open end and heat them. To remove the SB's one at a time by pulling the section with the vee's out and removing the heated SB. The system works but has a number of flaws, and yes i have the burnt fingers to prove it. Overall I think its ok but I need to find a way to reduce the heat transfer up the hook shaft and also to hold the baits in place but as I said it works. Anyway I look forward to seeing some other designs and as I refine this system I will repost the updates. Cheers Brendan
  17. Hi all, I have been making my own spinnerbaits for a while and would like to try my hand at some lippless crank baits. I would like to get some blanks and am looking for something around the same size as the Jackal Doozer. Can anyone tell me where I might get some larger sized blanks, also if you could advise a basic paint proceedure with these style of lures ie what sort of paint should I use? do they need priming? etc Thanks for your help in advance. Regards Brendan
  18. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone uses an alcohol burner to heat their jigs? I am currently using a heat gun but find the noise very annoying so am looking for an alternative.

  20. Ok so how do we get this happening?
  21. Hi all, Just an idea that perhaps we could start a new sticky with the different skirt tabs combination's that we are all using. I am also interested in different tab suppliers, currently I have used Barlows, Living Rubber and am about to place an order with fishing skirts and I am still looking for different skirts so if anyone can suggest other places that would be great. Have a great weekend !
  22. Firstly I want to say thanks to you guys, when I posted my question I thought it was a bit stupid but it seems as per usual the collective has come up with the goods. I will give them all a go and see what works best as I have 300 jigs to do. It is interesting to read that you guys wear protective gear when sanding the lead, I have only been wearing a mask when pouring and gloves when cleaning but I'm hearing loud and clear that lead dust obviously becomes airborne pretty easily so I will make that change straight away. Seems no point in making the lures if i'm not around to fish them. If I were to come to the states what fishing show would you guys recommend as a must see? Once again thanks for your help guys. Regards Brendan
  23. Hi all, Just thought i'd ask how people clean up the jig head after the spru has been cut off. I have been using a sanding block and putting the jig in the vice and giving them a quick clean up. It works well but I have to admit it becomes very tedious when doing bulk quantity. Does anyone do it differently? Also on a side note has anyone been to icast? I am thinking about going to the event but thought i might ask if it was worth while as a learning experience or just another tackle show? Regards Brendan
  24. Hi all,. I have been looking around for a better way to store the ever growing number of skirts and tabs and I was wondering if you guys would share the different ways you store them. I am sure that you have better ideas than my current method of plastic resealable bags and a big box.... Thanks in advance Regards Brendan PS happy Australia Day to the other aussies here ...
  25. Hi all, I am thinking about pouring my own 3,4,5" paddle tail shads, but as I have to freight the plastic to Australia I am trying to work out if it cost effective. Can anyone tell me roughly how much plastic each of the above molds will use or roughly how many baits I should expect for a Gallon of plastic? Also if anyone could suggest the best place to buy plastic both value and quality that would be great. Regards Brendan
