  1. Wanted to know if anyone knew of a good source or two for pics/images of different species of fish to look at while painting. I've tried Google pics ... you can find a good pic once in awhile. Thanks.
  2. 21xdc, I stopped by a craft store today and looked for some of the Folk Art Extreme Glitter. I noticed that instead of clear it is a 'milky' white color. I'm guessing that when applied it dries clear? Also, like those baits ... is that a light blue body with a bass green top?
  3. 21xdc, I take you don't have to thin the Folk Art down. What type of AB are you shooting the Folk Art thru ?
  4. I've done both with a lure coated with D2T. I have sanded down a bad spot and then re-coated with D2T with on problems. And I have airbrushed / painted on the D2T clear coat and when dried I clear coated again with D2T with no problems.
  5. The brass nozzle piece in pick with arrow pointing to it that I'm having trouble with. I've also noticed that my trigger is sticking now. Sometimes I can press it down and it will stay depressed until I manually pull it up. Just not smooth ... feels 'sticky'. I have taken the AB apart and cleaned it several times. I have soaked it in Acetone.
  6. I can get the very small nozzle piece the screws on off. The larger brass nozzle that attaches to the AB body is stuck. I soaked it in Acetone and still won't budge. If I'm not making sense ... I'll take a pic and attach.
  7. +1 on installing round rings Installing round rings is so much easier! I have scratched several finished lures trying to put on the oval rings.
  8. Want to do a good cleaning of my Iwata HP-CS but cannot get the nozzle loose. Pretty tight. Any suggestions on how to remove the nozzle without damaging it ?
  9. Mixed up some black with the thinning instructions from the video. It definitely made the black spray smoother. Wondering if you can just add Future and leave out the water in the thinning mixture. I remember reading on the Createx site about not thinning createx paints with water. Looking forward to trying this with the craft acrylic paints.
  10. Found my bottle of Future I'll use the mixture in the uTube video and shoot it tonight. Do you think this thinning method would work on the acrylic craft paints like Apple Barrel, etc. Straight out of the bottle they are to thick to shoot through and AB but with the this thinning method ???
  11. I have a bottle of Future around somewhere. If I can find it I will try it out and let ya'll know it works.
  12. redg8r, would it be possible to get the dimensions of the vacuum box, the base it is sitting in and the platen?
  13. redg8r, Thanks for the pics. What did you use to connect the platen to the metal poles allowing you to move the platen up and down?
  14. I looked up Vacuum Forming on YouTube to get info about it when I was looking into it. There are a couple of good ones there. Would like to see some pics of the vacuum former that is in the TU video. Liked how that one was designed.
  15. This unpainted RC 2.5 KO is not the Square Bill sold at Predator Bass Baits. I've seen several pictures of this one and it has NO plug in the bottom. Here is a pic of the bottom of this bait. As you can see there is no plug.
  16. Does anyone know where you can get this RC 2.5 KO ?
  17. Very NICE ! So did you use a pointed toothpick to add the brown stripes and spots to the bait ? Or did you snip the end off to make it blunt ? Thanks for sharing !!
  18. My brother uses the Testors Decal Paper (Hazmail mentioned) which he got at Hobby Lobby. Put it through his Ink Jet Printer and has no problems putting the logo decals on his baits. Applies them just like any other water decal .... lets dry ... they clear coats.
  19. I had the same problem with my Iwata when I first got it. I was in Harbor Freight one day and they had a moisture trap that connects on the compressor. Got it and it has worked great ever since. My AB hasn't spit any water in the least since. Best part was it only cost around $6.
  20. Thanks to all for the tips and help. While tying this one I was wondering if I had the wrong type of hackle. The feathers are long and I kept having to cut them down. Any of those out there that tie their own could you post a couple of hooks you've done so I could see what a good feathered hook looks like ? Thanks.
  21. Wanted to start learning how to tie my own feathered treble hooks. Here is my first. I think the feathers are a little to long. Constructive criticism and tips are appreciated
  22. I ended up going with the Hi-Line HP-BH and found a good deal on it at Dick Blick Arts. When it comes in and get to use I'll let ya'll know how I like it. Thanks for the help.
  23. RayburnGuy ... Good News ... you haven't lost your last cookie ! I was thinking about the Custom Micron when I typed that. It doesn't have the MAC valve. You are right ... the HP-BH does have it. So to be able to run a .3 mm needle I would need the needle, cap & nozzle?
  24. Thanks for the info RayburnGuy. I was leaning towards the HP-BH because of the smaller cup and it doesn't have the MAC valve. Didn't know much about how well the MAC valve would help or hurt. What is your experience with the MAC valve? Do you use it? Does it help with such things as making small lines? Thanks.
