my brother makes trolling baits for zander that sort of look like these but are not as tall and have a "step" styled swimming lip, they were really deadly while we were doing some midnight trolling this midsummer. im sure pikes will love them too hehe
you mean the vise ? i know sort of a late reply sorry about that i did not notice your post
anyways i have another tutorial, this time about how i foil my baits, its not very long but gets the point across i think.
i fixed up the head carvings on this last latest and greatest whatever jack pike with some glitters sprinkled under the pain layer, i have to say that this might be the most gorgeous pike i have ever made.

i think i've done one of the most beautiful baits of all of my lure building career so far. when you hold the bait in your hand it looks more beautiful than in the pictures for sure. btw if anyone is interested what kind of foil did i use its exactly the same as rapala uses in there baits
the specks are:
Length: 19cm/ 7.5in
weight: 91g/ 3.30oz
thickness: 18mm/ 0.7in
More pics of this bait and others can be found from my blog http://solarfallbaits.blogspot.com/
made these for a dude in england who wanted me to make few of these pike jerkbaits that i have done in the past. i think i still have some tweaking with the body type but i guess its something i will be doing next time around.

the plastic putty that i use is made by pakla its a domestic brand so im pretty sure they dont sell it over seas. like i said in the vid (or i think i did) any brand will do, its essentially the same stuff as is used in the car rapair shops just ask for polymer filler.
next time you should try if you can make a mouth and slap a real fish fin to the side and you've got a masterpiece, or a experiment horribly gone wrong lol
cool to see that you are having such nice results on using fish skin, very inspirational stuff, I've done few of those too when i was younger, i think roach comes out the best of all the fish I've used, perch and rainbow trout are tricky since there colors seem to fade when you dry them. maybe there is a trick for that too, if there is I've yet to discover it. anyway using the real fish heads parts is really neat I'm definitely gonna try that some time too
thanks guys they did come out pretty nice for sure. they also have a nice gliding action too, almost reminds me of a hellhound darting action. so they should work
