Hello all, I've been doing a lot of thinking about getting two poison tail molds and modifying them to accept L3886BP hooks and cutting them to accept the spoon wire forms mentioned here by another member. Thinking maybe the 30 degree hook will tangle less and on a-rigs and I know it'd be just a spinnerbait with swimbait and no skirt which I already do throw plenty I feel like I could give fish a different look so I like the option of having a weed guard. So now that you know the why I'm begging yall for the how or if it's worth it part. The modifying the hook eye part I'm ok with, but cutting for the wire forms scare me. Has anyone ever done this on a poison tail/any 30 degree jig hook before? Did it roll or even if y'all haven't tried it before do you think the difference between the normally used 90 and 30 degree hooks would make it want to roll more? I'm assuming I want the wire forms to exit the heads as close to the keeper as possible while still leaving room for plenty of lead to enclose them. What about the lengths of the forms for the blade legs. I know to make them long enough so the blade doesnt touch the belly of the bait (I'll be mostly using swing impact fat k.o.'s) but would making those longer make the bait more or less stable? I apologize for the physics exam but really would love to hear any input before I got cutting 80 dollars worth of molds opposed to just buying the herring head mold. Hello all, Ive finally gotten around to making some jigs out of silicone and the old school rubber tabs sold by fishingskirts.com. I guess the way I had the rubber tabs stored has caused some to curl on the end and it is pretty noticeable on my finished jigs. I was wondering if I could maybe dip the jigs ive tied already and the remaining tabs in hot water to straighten them back out like a swimbaits? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all! Was able to put in a more cost effective order rather than messing around with ordering sample sizes and paying shipping. Oh and i also just eliminated a tricky, somewhat costly step from my process and thats worth its weight in gold imo. Adding a third layer or powder paint was always a risky deal for me because i dip all of mine and didnt have an adequate collection system for the mini sand blaster on top of the health risks it was always costly as the micro pearl clear coat was easily contaminated. I think ill try one of these, the prices and quantities are low enough and it says it can be dusted onto a lure before a clear coat is applied but i doubt id have much consistency going that route vs mixing it with the epoxy. Ive recently began coating my jigs and spinnerbait heads with d2t and am a huge fan. Ive been playing around with some clear powder paint with glimmer effects in place of the clear powder i was using as a top coat before converting to epoxy. My supply of blue glimmer clear coat has run low and everytime i think to reorder it the seller is always away and not taking orders. So its been unreliable to obtain a steady supply and it is pricey leading me to look for something else. I know glitter can be added to epoxy after the two parts are thoroughly mixed. My question is has anyone tried mixing the glimmer highlights used in pouring soft plastics with d2t like glitter? The main colors i use are a blue, green, silver and gold glimmer clear coat and im sure ive seen all of those listed for sale somewhere as soft plastic glimmer highlights or something. Not trying to argue either but i along with a few others use soft lead and powder paint and dont have any issues or need for thousand degree lead.

Regular round bend. Dont feel that a sprout gives enough hook gap if you thread your trailers on like i normally do opposed to just hanging them on.

Torgue from the fish on the hook and the angler on the wire will ruin a bait over time if the wire hasnt broke by then.

I think powder paint reinforces the head area better than liquid paints.

Were you powder painting spinnerbaits 25 years ago?
