  1. All right, thanks guys. I think I'll try some 2 part epoxy or permagloss on a crankbait build I have coming up.
  2. Thanks for the response Bob. The varnish I'm using is advertised as varnish. Gudebrod rod varnish. Janns has rod dancer rod varnish that appears to be the same. I've been turned off by the idea of epoxy due to it's relative complexity. With rod varnish I can get a heavy build in two coats, water cleanup and it's like $1/oz. I tend to wonder if the epoxy is better, or just has a higher markup and therefore pushed by sellers more, hence my desire to learn from those who have experience with both products.
  3. Anyone who has used both varnish and epoxy to coat guide wrapping that can give me a fair assessment pro and cons of each. So far I have used Gudebrod high build rod varnish and have been happy with the results. I see most people use 1 or 2 part urethane epoxy and wonder if I'm missing the boat?
  4. So is dye a reasonable alternative to two color pouring?
  5. Search found zero results for dye or die (seems odd). How effective is the dye sold for dipping baits to add say a chartreuse tail on a worm? Is it permanent? Can it dye colors darker than the dye?
  6. Photobucket says not hosting remixes anymore. How about youtube?
  7. Yeah I tried the infrared route, shiny surfaces do not work. Owners manual recommends placing black masking tape on the surface and allowing it to heat up then measure. Somehow thinking that might not work <sarcasm>. I'll look into the rcbs thermometer vs thermocouple.
  8. I would like to get a thermometer to use when melting lead. Any suggestions for an inexpensive one?
  9. Sorry if this has been addressed already, but my searches brought back nothing. Is 302/304 music wire from Precision Wire good for spinnerbait forms? This is what I'm looking at. If not what do you suggest. I have a mold already and would like to bend my own wires. Thanks.
