  1. I'm thinking of trying adding a wire (needs to be small diam. to reduce flash) on some of my tube, football head molds. I'm not interested in modifying or dremel the molds. Anybody have a reccomendation for the type of "wire" & where to buy it?? Mark
  2. REALLY COOL - like it !!!
  3. I am just getting started with an airbrush & want to understand a little more, any help is appreciated. From my understanding powder with an AB allows fading - are there any other advantages? I'd like to use the AB for powder & liquid. Will any AB gun that is designed to shoot "heavy" work for powder? or do you use the smaller needle/tip? I'm looking at double action external mix siphon guns that come with several tips - do I really need this? Currently looking at the Iwata (made in the US & spare parts avail).
  4. My decision for tools has changed some - I want to be able shoot powder, too. Barlow's sells a specific airbrush for this - is there anything special about it or do I just need a large diam needle (which)? I would like to buy 1 airbrush tool for repaints (liquid) & powder for my jigs. Any ideas would help. I looked at a airbrush paint forum but they are all doing autos ... different crowd / application. Mark
  5. I'm thinking of buying an airbrush to repaint some PLASTIC lures (herring blue on the back) & use for jigs. I am a beginner painter and have done some research on this, but still learning... do I have to sand the lure for the paint to stick? base coat needed? any suggestions for the herring blue paint? is there something that flashes like they use on rattle traps? I want to use a top coat. I use devcon on my jigs. Would this work or is there a spray on top coat? Also - anyone mix or sprinkle flakes before the top coat (added flash)? Mark
  6. It seems I am a bit confused... I've been looking at what the retailers are selling for jig painting... & you're saying I can use model paint with the hard coat on top. That seems like something to try. I guess as far as duability - it's all the same dependant on the hardener used. I will experiment - thanks again for helping.
  7. Where is a good place to buy Createx, E-tex & D2T ? Can I start by dipping? I may do the airbrush thing in the future. Is this different than what Cabela's sells?
  8. Thank you for helping ! I'm not trying to fade this time. What type of liquid paint would you suggest to put on top of the cured powder paint? I like the paint work on this site with fading & other more advanced painting - I'm thinking of moving into that. Obviously, this opens all kinds of other questions & I will not go there...yet. Will this overcoat seal 3d eyes in place ? or will the chemical eat the eye? Mark
  9. I am trying to paint a second color on my shad dart heads. I am using powder paint & it really does a sloppy job. My line where the colors meet are not clean. I've tried a small - shallow container with about an 1/8 inch of paint & it still comes out messy. I thought about using kapton tape - but that is way too time consuming... Now I'm thinking a liquid paint dip would be better with a final over coat / hardener. Anybody have input, advise or experience to help ? Mark
