  1. I've read this entire thread . I would pose two questions to the microwave users having bubble issues . Have you tried heating the plastisol in a covered container . Next question have you tried heating plastisol in something other than pyrex . Say ceramic containers . Enquireing minds want to know .LOL I haven't found a plastic I hated. Some a little harder to work with for one reason or another . So having said that Please feel free to send me any plastic you hate . I'll turn it into something even if it may not be fishing related .Might just have to make a giant tude jig 12"long and 3" around or a snake lure 3' long .
  2. I have tried a number of types of hide and fur . As of yet I have not found a way to use real hide that didn't creat an undesireable effect whether it was hair loss or the treatment prevented it from adhearing to the lure master when an adhesive is applied . I finally didn't want to spend any more time fooling with it . I have a short attention span .
  3. I think I'd sell cars first . Make more money with less hassle .
  4. I've found this to be the best all around dye . Many choices http://www.aljodye.com/main.html<br /><br />Before you die a fresh deboned tail you need to degrease it .find an unscented soap and soak the tails for a couple days in a heavy solution .Rinse them very well then squeeze them out . Don't ring the tail dry .Comb them out and let them dry a day .<br />Put a cup of salt to a pound of borax mix it . Spread the borax in a flat box of some sort big enough to hold the tails . Lay them skin down work them in slightly so as to make good contact with the borax . Cover them the borax penetrates better that way . Leave until the tail is stiff . It will soften some after dyed .<br />Ready your dye bath at 140-160 degrees for fur or feathers . Higher temps will often result in curled tips . No need to boil .Follow dye mfg directions for quantity of acid dye generally about four quarts of water to a pack of dye .Add 1 cup apple cider vinegar 1 cup salt to the dye bath . Cut a piece of tail drop it in the bath for the 45 minutes you will need to dye the tails . This adds time but its the best way to make sure of what you are dealing with .Rinse it and have a look .If all is well go ahead and add your tails periodically pushing them down in the bath . I use a wooden spoon . Take them out and rinse them extremely well absolutely do not do this in your sink or use anything that belongs to wifey . Trust Me ! Comb them out let them drip dry in open air . If you like them you can put them in a dehydrater Just to be sure the drying process is complete .

    Wacky Worms

Heck I just hang a bass casting sinker off the hook for weight . When and if I ever use a wacky worm .I also use a zip tie around the bait since I have loads of them running around here. Bet I still got half of the first 2 packs of baits I ever bought .
  6. If it is made from steel it is probably ancient .
  7. Any one of those attachments will work . Looks like a trip to the shop is in order . Hope I got a junk fb mold so I can do my version .
  8. This is exactly why I didn't purchase one . I've been waiting to see what happens with them .
  9. Well now And they say I'm the mad scientist . Ha you guys are as bad as me . Just go ahead and admit it . Stop living indenial .
  10. I can only give you my 2 cents worth . Save up the money, buy one major piece of equipment at one time . I'd say a spin caster first . Why because you can make and sell plain castings for yourself and others producing a monetary return to invest in your next equipment buy . Wish I had done that years ago . An electro static spray system can be had from harbor frieght not much more expensive than the molds you buy now so I don't consider that a major expense . Concentrate on a couple lures .Work out the kinks with those before you try to add products to your line . It is easy to sink money into a bunch of stuff to find that you niether have the time nor the money to encompass all you have started .There is only one way you can throw money away quicker than in fishing tackle . That is steady trips to the casino . Cause it's a gamble any way you go .
  11. Electro static spray gun . sprays on a cold lure then straight to the oven . Just don't touch the lure or the powder turns loose . You can do a bunch at one time .
  12. Try a little folgers instant in your dark colors . Give them fish a wake up call . Can even tip it with a bit of Daylight Doughnut .
  13. First thing I thought when I saw that mold was why the form was not a quick connect so the hook goes on afterwards . So now the next best solution as far as the hook is concerned is an open eye hook you can crimp on . This only helps as far as painting is concerned .
  14. Many thanks old friend . Might just need to holler at you . I'm hoping to get a couple of the guys in on this . The vets have several activities they get to do but it makes it more personal when you can give input on your own device .
  15. Anise is my no. one choice . However you can get in trouble using it straight here in Oklahoma .I use 3 scents 2 of which can't tell cause they are in my toad sauce . Then for giggles and back woods fishermen I put Copenhagen in place of string glitter sometimes . LOL No brag just fact .
  16. There ya go the guys laid it out just about right . There is one plastic left I haven't used yet . But what I've found is alot of times there is a trade off in getting something you want from a plastic like less bubbles and then you find it will lack something not as stable a heat tolerance .Each to his own but I'll shoot any dang thing somebody sends me .
  17. I'm with SmallJaw on that . EC hooks are the way to go for the moment . Since everything and every product is being tossed back and forth between countries it is hard to say how long the quality will last for anything . Some people insist on dropping big bucks on high dollar hooks . But I'm of the opinion a hook is a hook . If it's sharp ,If it's strong ,If it's tarnish free It is a good hook . I don't care what kind of hook you have It is the guy setting the hook that most time looses the fish . I know cause I'm getting old and slow . LOL
  18. MF is good I'm using it now . Just get some hardner and add it to your plastic to suit your taste .Medium MF works for most of my baits from crappie to bass .If I want something softer or harder I just put in additives. I don't compair products because it can lead to fussing and it is sort of one of those things that fits a personal preference .
  19. OH Man way cool . Thanks Travis . Got to start investigating You Tube . It looks like I'm going to have to hand make the Rod placements and such .Will probably try velcro first to hold the system on the wheel chairs since drilling holes and such won't go over well .Also it will allow for some versatility in fitting it up .
  20. Look up Extreme Jigs they are in Brazil . May be you can find all you want to know right there quick .
  21. They do a lot of jigging for Peacock bass down there . They also use cranks . If I remember right the colors were pretty loud Flo. yellow , Chart and the like combined with orange and often blue .
  22. Hot dang Ben thanks . That solves at least one or more problems . Never would have thought of using sand in the pipe to bend it .
  23. Most of you guys know I work with disabled veterans and kids with disadvantages .I would appreciate some help if any of you fellows know where I can get PVC pipe in unusual shapes and configurations . I've seen furniture , work stations and numerous other things Made from it . What do I need it for ? I need it to make wheel chair rod holders that will allow some one to fish with only one arm and still set the hook by themselves .They will be built wheel chair specific because of the numerous differents type of power chairs and wheel chairs .If I can accomplish this it will take every bit of enginuity I posess . I entend to provide these free of charge to my vets and kids . So last request is ! Say a few prayers for me . I'm going to need special guidance .
