  1. I think that plastic is sort of a personal choice . Chemionics is comparable to any other plastic . I've used it worked great in the microwave or pot . I found no real difference that made it any better or worse than its competitors . I've only used one plastic I really didn't care for . Heck I've even used those plastic sticky toys kids throw at the fridge . Got a pile at an auction , melted them suckers , made baits . Guess you could say I'm easy and cheap .

    9'" Shad

What style of bait Need a pic if ya got one.
  7. Then there is this , if you have a mold already someone might trade a hand pour for your injection .
  8. Barlowes has the forms . But you will have to make them for musky and other large fish should anybody tackle this project . Haven't been in the shop in a year or I'd pitch in .
  9. Put a jig head and beetle spin on them . Hit the ponds or small streams in spring . Works for me .
  10. yep , the original ones came out of Arkansas . Can't remember who designed them . Good panfish bait .
  11. pics help to be able to price the.
  12. I have used baby powder a lot on replica molds . Just powder it heavy then blow off the excess so that there are no visible lumps or anything as a precaution . Powder the part to be molded as well . Take your time those things are tricky download the proceedure and study it . Toss it around in your mind before you jump on it .
  13. Think I have molds from 1/16 to 3oz. Haven't been in the shop in a year but I know I have the stuff to make them .
  14. I have a Boggs ,Hagens pro and a Twist Tech as well as an old Herters . They all perform with ease . Least favorite is the Twist Tech in some instances . You'll be good to go with the Boggs just order each size twist barrel cause one thing leads to another and ya might just need them . By the way there are a ton of tutorials and discussions both on TU and Youtube fore wire twisting good reads all .

    First Bucktail

It looks as good as any jig out there . Well done pard . Think you found another calling . Some people want a stream lined look some want a bunch of flare . Just go with what works for you . large northern buck tail will give you more lenght if you need it . Have fun .
  16. Lord have mercy that will take some splain'in right there . Might help if ya got a pic of the bait your trying to achieve . A lot depends on if it's a treble hook or not . Trebles are a pain in the keester . The flair which seems to be bulk is often due to using soft bucktail as opposed to stiffer harder bucktail and will give you a smaller thread wrap for a head . Gonna have to work through your question slow bit by bit cause it is somewhat intricate .
  17. You can make up tails ahead of time . Don't put scent or anything on them ,keep them covered or in a container . Do solid colors or something before you shoot the ones with premade tails . This will help the plastic remain hot enough to adhere without leaving a shear line . You may want to just preheat the mold.
  18. If you are about to make streamers get ready to use a lot of thread . Making a decent head on the fly takes some practice. Especially when you begin to taper towards the eye , then tie off . Liberally coat those heads with clear coat that will soak in . As you learn this sore fingers will probably develope because it takes quite a bit more hands on pressure than jigs.
  19. First you will have trouble with the wire being in the way of using the spout . Depending on the mold it may not fill the collar very well and the wire gets pushed off center which makes you have to bend it back to make the bait track . Be aware that hot lead can squirt out of the pour area because you will not be able to get a snug fit . Myself I prefer a 15lb electric tip ladle for jobs like that . But you can with practice pour some decent baits with a bottom pour . I always had to extend the hieght between the base and spout for better access .
  20. If your looking for good flare on the hair . Take a pair of old time eye lash curlers and pull a hank on your bucktail about the dia. of a pencil through and squeeze down . The hair will flare three four time the hank size . If it dosen't seperate it out for jig tying or to use for slimmer profiles . When I was still doing tackle I graded all my hair that way .
  21. The ebay ones work just fine . In a pinch I've purchased them from Ebay sellers . But I only get white and dye them myself which further cures the hide do to soaking in the dye salt with the dye chemicals acting as preservative as well .
  22. Mercy and You guys thought I tried to do the unusual . If you pull that off I'm going to have to come up with a toad Tony award.
  23. I'd rather use barbed wire for toilet paper than use one of those things .
