  1. I cannot comment on that specific REVO, but I have 8 REVOs of other models and they are the best reels I have ever owned- by far.
  2. Flex Cloat, Diamonite II, Permagloss all have worked well for finishing rods in my experience. For mounting reel seats and grips I only use Rod Bond now. If you spend the time to set up the eyes right, a spiral wrap will cast a mile. I built one to use as a mini surf-style baitcaster for pier fishing on Lake Michigan, it works well. Having said that I have built 7 "normal" baitcasters since. I agree about Mudhole, great place for one stop shopping, especially since they added lure making parts recently.
  3. Are you limited as to what you can put on it after the powder?
  4. Does the Badger 260 work for painting baits, also?? I am a n00b to airbrushing, I would first like to spray powder on baits, but possibly branch out to other painting...
  5. LOL, you are right. But I never got the cast right handed and switch hands to reel thing. I cast right and reel left.
  6. Rivereyes, I assume you air brush your paint? What type of paint do you start with??? They look badass, that is the end result I am looking for.
  7. OK, I am trying to paint vibrating lures. I have spray painted vinyl then dipped or brushed. Then primed with Fusion the dipped/brushed. Then sprayed with model paint then sealed with glow paints. Holy S*it, I can not find stuff that works well together! Can someone gimme some hints as to how I should prime, paint and highlight/seal some vibrating lures (and spoons)????
  8. I am extremely biased. Abu Garcia fortehwin! I have old school C3 4601, C3 5501, C4 5601, BCX 6501; (2) Revo S-L, Revo SX-L and a REVO TORO 51. The best, nuff said. I have tried others, than sold them on Ebay.
  9. I may be a weirdo, but my color of choice for northern is black. My honey hole is a small to medium sized river, so it may be a bit more murky than everyone elses' spots. Every northern over 30" I caught last year was caught on a black 5/8 oz spinnerbait, except one. And she was caught on a red and black one.
  10. I live in Wisconsin.... I believe we are famous for our Esox fisheries:) If you would like, contact me, I will try your bait out:)
  11. Dang. One of those moments where one has to think: How the heck did I never think of that?? Good idea!
  12. I am looking for a 10 or 12' Jon Boat, that I can tie to my Tahoe. Nothing more. I will paddle:)
  13. Got it, but haven't used it yet. It does not say what is in it on the label.... It is odorless also
  14. Hey guys. I recently bought a vibrating lure mold and made a bunch of 'em. I cleaned them with denatured alcohol and painted them with nylon paint, then sealed with UV Flash seal coat. After fishing them for awhile, the paint came off. Should I use sandpaper on the brass before painting?? Anyone else had this issue??
  15. I don't know yet, but I ordered some last week:) I will let you know!
  16. I have hear graphite fibers are very bad for you, FYI. What I have done is wrap masking tape where I wanted to cut, and cut with a small, yet very sharp hack saw.
  17. I said I have made a couple blanks, I meant poles. I have a nondescript steelhead pole that works awesome. Not shiny, but functional. I working on an aesthetic replacement now:)
  18. I have a rod wrapping jig my Dad made me, with a 3rd support stand. A tool I got from Ebay to draw a straight line up and down a blank. 2 blanks covered in epoxy and abrasive for boring grips. A wood lathe. All I have so far, but I have made a couple blanks, the last one actually looks pretty badass.

I love the marbling. Van Halen fan? Or is it a coincidence? I plan on one marbled like this, too, to be my VH pole...
  20. Youtube has some cool vids on rod building, by the way. Also, rodguild.org has a bunch of info. I am in the guild, lots of helpful people in it, surf over to it...
