It is a suction gun.

I have had a couple of the Bear's ones and they shot really well. Making the "core shot" is a great addition to the baits too. More versatile than some of the other types of molds. You can do so much with swimbaits as far as eyes, core colors, paints, dipping, etc.

I say, Go Big or Go Home. I use a 16 oz one from Autozone for $13.00 that I converted for a few cents. I shoot a lot of molds with this one and the nozzle screws on too. Have not had one bit of trouble with it in 6 months of use. (Yes, I have had a few of Bear's injectors and a BT's injector, but this one for the money and size is the best.)

I had the 5.5 RWST from Del and did not have any "hairs" or any trimming to do on them. Maybe your molds were early ones. You do have to inject it s-l-o-w though. And DT is correct, no void in the bait. Although if you don't top off the sprue after shooting it can leave one for you.
