This is all great info. Why not also trying to make one yourself. I love making these baits and I overbuild them just in case a pike takes a bite. Janns netcraft sells stainless jitter lips and tbe bodies. you still have to carve a notch on the body for the lip. Play around with different angles. You can do it.

This is the small mouth I caught on Jitter Day Tripper. I caught him in a deep pool on the West River in my home town. -
I went to one of my spots in the West River after work today and caught an 18" 2+ pound smallmouth bass with this lure.I will put a pic in the trophy room soon. -
That sounds nice! The shop where I work has a copy lathe and a back knife lathe I have been nagging at my boss to make some lure bodies. I think it would happen faster if iIbuy my own machine. I have this idea that might work for your lathe being 42" , you can get 40" blanks and make a jig that would make a 3" plug every 3.5" . You will end up with lots of plugs really quick with half the effort. Good luck.

I suggest red and white cedar as well as bass and poplar. Pine will work for development or set-up purposes.What kind of lathe did you get?

Checkout lurepartsonline.com they have some nice products at decent prices and also have a catalog. I just bought some belly weight hook hanger combos from them. They even offer 2" stainless steel screw eyes! I just made my first order from them last week and was very pleased with the customer service.

I am I big fan of colored hooks,as well as dressed red hooks which are a killer attractant. I have been putting red hooks on lots of my baits and it seems to have turned the bite on for me. I like this topic and I am going to try out some of this out , Oh Yeah and save $$$. Thanks for the ideas!

I caught a smallmouth on the black one today! Great success ! I will post pics soon. -
I was fishing with j-7's when I caught the pike. It was just a little guy but he hit it like the big boys. On the same day I also caught a very large blue gill and a small mouth. That lure is like spring magic. I broke my perch pattern on a tree branch. I guess I will have to go buy more What else have you been tossin' ?
