Thank you
No problem bud!! That is what this board is for, helping others. As the others have said, glue will work also for crackle.

Do you thin it
If your talking to me crab, no, just spray right out of the bottle. You will just have to play around with how thick you spray it on, to get the kind of crackle you want.

Here is what I use. Just spray on, spray paint over it & it will crackle to whatever color is underneath.

I painted one using Mikko's method, a few years ago, and it turned out nice. It's posted in the hardbait gallery.

Nice work!!

Make sure the Etec is mixed 50/50 and stir it for two minutes. Then let sit for 10 minutes before applying to the lure.

4. lastly, how long do you let the paint (i'm using mainly createx) dry before coating?
As long as your paint is heat set dry, you can clear right away after heat setting them.

Solar Fall shows how to do it nicely in this video at the 4:59 minute.

I use Blue Painters Tape. Goes on easy & comes off easy. I tape the front part of the bill first. Then I start under the bill, up next to the belly of the lure. Wrap around and curve around the top of the bill.

Another way to paint eyes is using an artist brush stick. Pull off the bristle end, dip in paint for the first spot, flip the stick over, dip in paint for the pupil.

Nice work!!

With Devcon, I mix for about 45 seconds, then brush onto lure. I use a big paper clip to mix my epoxy. Works great with far less bubbles. The working time with devcon is far less than the working time with etex. With devcon, I can get 3 baits cleared before going to the drying wheel. With etex, you could probably do 25-30 baits per mixing.

I used to use 4011 flash reducer by Auto Air. I now mix my own from a recipe on here http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/28898-reducer/?hl=reducer

Here is a picture of the shad color I was throwing that day. Forgot to mention, I was fishing out of the back of the boat.

Me and a friend were both throwing staysee 90 jerkbaits, a few years ago. I was throwing my custom painted threadfin shad, while he was throwing a store bought lucky craft color. I caught 25 bass, to his 10 bass. I definitely think color has a lot to do catching bass. We also won two tournaments throwing nothing but the custom shad color!! I also caught my biggest smallmouth & spotted bass on baits that I painted. Luck? Maybe so!!But I sure do have confidence when I am throwing one. If I was able, I would post every fish caught on them & let you be the judge.
Nothing like catching little green fish on something you created!!

Winter Craw!!
1. White Basecoat
2. Spray entire bait yellow
3. Add Candy Apple Red dots to the cheek areas
4. Spray the shoulders & belly red
5. Spray the black craw lines on each side
6. Spray the back black also
7. Dip a toothbrush into black paint & pull back on the bristles to get the splatter
8. Spray a light coat of High Lite Purple over the back only
9 Add eyes & clear, then place on drying wheel

I do the same as Anglinarcher!!

Bluegills!! They are a tough paint, but look great when you achieve goal of painting them to a nice finish.
-
Goes on thin, self leveling & doesn't have to be turned. Definitely have to be safe spraying it. Don't have to worry about it clogging up the joints. A lot of clears will work with different preparations. What is that, and why is it so good?

Auto clear is great to use on swimbaits.

Hey Ben,
A Helping Hands Holder works good on swimbaits. You can get them fairly cheap at Harbor Freight. Here is a link to see what they look like. http://www.adafruit.com/products/291?gclid=CI7N5ZTEjr4CFc1j7AodUFgAcA
