Make sure the bait is clean of all oils. It could be fisheye that your getting. The epoxy wont stick to oils on the bait. Denatured alcohol works great for cleaning them. Welcome to TU!!

Thanks Ben!! I caught her off of a wind blown point. Not sure if she had already spawned or not. Looks like she was getting ready too, if she hadn't already. She was 23 1/2" long. Thanks Hokie!! I felt the same way for many years. Be sure to move offshore, once summer gets here. Best of luck getting your first DD!! -

I use Krylon Fusion for a base coat & have been for years, without any kind of trouble. It may not work with all clears, but works fine using BSI for clear.

Buy an empty paint bottle & pour half of the paint into it, then fill with paint reducer. It will give you two bottles of paint & good flow through your airbrush.

I went out to the shop & got the box that they came in & I ordered them from Ichiban Tackle in Japan. They are still showing 1mm gold for sale. I ordered the 3mm scales. Here is the purple ones I have left. I will eventually use them, but trying to make them last a while, since I know I can't get any more!! I guess they think that if they don't sell those foils, that you will buy the Lucky Craft baits. I own a few Lucky Crafts, but they are other types of baits that I like those foiled scales on them. I painted me up enough to last me a while, but it would be nice to add those to a few baits every now and then.

You used to could get them from Lucky Craft Japan. I ordered a couple of packs, a few years ago, but it was out of the last few they sold. I got 2 packs of silver holographic & 1 pack of purple holographic. I have used all of the silver & have just a few of the purple scales left. They no longer sell them to the public, that I am aware of!
