I have bought all I have done so far from luremaking.com and I am having alot of trouble with the last batch I got so i am looking a swithching over to another company and tring. I have never tried anything but slick baits, Is the luckycraft look alikes hard to paint? I did not know since they have ridges and valleys in them. Thanks for any input and all the help everyone has already given me!
  6. I bought some from bps and they have like fabric in he joints. So tonight I was on eay and found some 4in five section blanks and made him an offer. I guess the question I have is has anyone ever painted these before and do I need to do anything differant the the popers or crankbaits I have been painting? THanks and look forward to any input anyone can give me.
  7. Alright I have a question and I am new to painting tried to paint the scale effect on but no doing what or how do you do it? I did not mean to interupted this forum but it has been something I have been wanting to do. I will look at what I got for the matterial though not sure what shape it is. I work for a tent factory so about any size sceen you can think of I can get. from very small to 1/8 in opening. If anyone wants any and would like to try let me know and I could send some usps. I can get the big stuff better than the little but I do have about one sq yard of the big stuff I can share. Thanks for the input and sorry did not mean to change the subject.
  8. Thanks to all that have helped dont know if it was the base coat that I did differant tonight or cleaning them first but something worked for me got another crank for saturday now need to fill orders this week for the guys at work, one of the best things I like about painting these is I learn what to fish with being new to the lake that I fish but so far so good a first and second in the last two tournies so wish me luck will need all I can get. And if any one has any color scems I can try send them my way waterr temp 58-68 depend on where I am at deep clear lake thanks agian to everyone!
  9. The big thing I can not understand is why the first ones turned out so great but now doing everything exactly the same I am havin troubles I am tring new base and preped them so I will paint tonight and let set then dip tomarrow and see what happens wish me luck I have a tourney this weekend and need my classic that has cought all my fish this year, For those who want to know what it is just dont use it agianst me I painted the top a dark to light purple then on the bottom put strips in a dark color any will work then went over the bottom front belly with orange to red in the back with the black beauty spot on the back part of the middle it turned out great and every time I use it the smallies love it!
  10. Alright here goes I am painting out of cheap spary paint for base then using createx out of airbrush then dipping in clearcoat I am using a polyurethain for clear coat like I said the first came out grat with no prep but tonight I rubbed down it alcochol then painted with a better base made for plastic going to try and paint and see what it does will let you all know and thanks for your help.
  11. Well I am painting them in side in my basment I will try and let them dry over night but I did a few days ago and got the same effect it is like the base coat is not sticking or something like that.
  12. I have just been painting for a little while but when I was messin around trin to learn how I painted a med diver purple that ran because I did not know how to use the airbrush then painted over the bottom with orange but you could still see wher it ran. Everyone wanted that ugly thing so my first tourney of the year I figured why not and could not believe I had four fish in less than an hour. So now I am tring to make it and did fished the last tourney and cought two fish in the first two cast then broke it off at the boat on a smallie. Next time I go out I will have a botu five of these still won but on a spinner not cranking.
  13. Alright so I have been painting crankbaits for about two months. I buy the glued baits. The first 30 I painted came out awsome after I learned my airbrush and learned how to mix paint and everything else. Well I ordered 120 baits this time and I put the base paint on standard white spraypaint out of a can just like last time, Paint the baits look good, dip in the the clear coat hang to dry just like the first 30 and while drying they start wrinkling up. Sorry for the discription but dont know how else to say it the paint just bubbles up and can not figure it out. Any advise will help I have a tourney this weekend and the last bait I had painted lost on a under one pound smallie. This is my first post of hopefully many now I have people I can talk to about this with out boring my wife to death about it. Thanks to all that replay and I am sure I will have some more questions.
